2 Samuel 2
1 After this, Dauid asked counsel of the Lord, saying, Shall I go vp into any of the cities of Iudah? And the Lord sayd vnto him, Goe vp. And Dauid sayd Whither shall I goe? Hee then answered, Vnto Hebron.
Después de esto, David consultó a Yahvé, diciendo: “¿Debo subir a alguna de las ciudades de Judá?”. Yahvé le dijo: “Sube”. David dijo: “¿Adónde subiré?” Dijo: “A Hebrón”.
2 So Dauid went vp thither, and his two wiues also, Ahinoam the Izreelite, and Abigail Nabals wife the Carmelite.
David subió allí con sus dos mujeres, Ahinoam la jezreelita y Abigail la mujer de Nabal el carmelita.
3 And Dauid brought vp the men that were with him, euery man with his houshold, and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.
David hizo subir a sus hombres que estaban con él, cada uno con su familia. Vivían en las ciudades de Hebrón.
4 Then the men of Iudah came, and there they anoynted Dauid King ouer the house of Iudah. And they tolde Dauid, saying, that the men of Iabesh Gilead buried Saul.
Vinieron los hombres de Judá y allí ungieron a David como rey de la casa de Judá. Le dijeron a David: “Los hombres de Jabes de Galaad fueron los que enterraron a Saúl”.
5 And Dauid sent messengers vnto the men of Iabesh Gilead, and said vnto them, Blessed are ye of the Lord, that yee haue shewed such kindenes vnto your lord Saul, that you haue buried him.
David envió mensajeros a los hombres de Jabes de Galaad y les dijo: “Benditos seáis por Yahvé, porque habéis mostrado esta bondad con vuestro señor, con Saúl, y lo habéis enterrado.
6 Therefore now the Lord shewe mercie and trueth vnto you: and I will recompence you this benefite, because ye haue done this thing.
Que el Señor les muestre su bondad y su verdad. Yo también te recompensaré por esta bondad, porque has hecho esto.
7 Therefore nowe let your handes be strong, and be you valiant: albeit your master Saul bee dead, yet neuerthelesse the house of Iudah hath anoynted me King ouer them.
Ahora, pues, fortalece tus manos y sé valiente, porque Saúl, tu señor, ha muerto, y también la casa de Judá me ha ungido como rey sobre ellos.”
8 But Abner the sonne of Ner that was captaine of Sauls hoste, tooke Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul, and brought him to Mahanaim,
Abner, hijo de Ner, capitán del ejército de Saúl, había capturado a Isboset, hijo de Saúl, y lo había llevado a Mahanaim.
9 And made him King ouer Gilead, and ouer the Ashurites, and ouer Izreel, and ouer Ephraim, and ouer Beniamin, and ouer al Israel.
Lo hizo rey de Galaad, de los asuritas, de Jezreel, de Efraín, de Benjamín y de todo Israel.
10 Ish-bosheth Sauls sonne was fourtie yeere olde when he began to reigne ouer Israel, and reigned two yeere: but the house of Iudah followed Dauid.
Isboset, hijo de Saúl, tenía cuarenta años cuando comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, y reinó dos años. Pero la casa de Judá siguió a David.
11 (And the time which Dauid reigned in Hebron ouer the house of Iudah, was seuen yeere and sixe moneths)
El tiempo que David fue rey en Hebrón sobre la casa de Judá fue de siete años y seis meses.
12 And Abner the sonne of Ner, and the seruantes of Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul went out of Mahanaim to Gibeon.
Abner hijo de Ner, y los siervos de Isboset hijo de Saúl, salieron de Mahanaim a Gabaón.
13 And Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah, and the seruants of Dauid went out and met one another by the poole of Gibeon: and they sate downe, the one on the one side of the poole, and the other on the otherside of the poole.
Joab, hijo de Sarvia, y los siervos de David salieron a su encuentro junto al estanque de Gabaón, y se sentaron, el uno a un lado del estanque y el otro al otro.
14 Then Abner saide to Ioab, Let the yong men nowe arise, and play before vs. And Ioab said, Let them arise.
Abner dijo a Joab: “¡Por favor, que los jóvenes se levanten y compitan ante nosotros!” Joab dijo: “¡Que se levanten!”
15 Then there arose and went ouer twelue of Beniamin by number, which perteined to Ish-bosheth the sonne of Saul, and twelue of the seruants of Dauid.
Entonces se levantaron y pasaron por número: doce por Benjamín y por Isboset, hijo de Saúl, y doce de los siervos de David.
16 And euery one caught his fellowe by the head, and thrust his sword in his fellowes side, so they fell downe together: wherefore ye place was called Helkath-hazzurim, which is in Gibeon.
Cada uno de ellos agarró a su adversario por la cabeza y le clavó la espada en el costado a su compañero; así cayeron juntos. Por eso aquel lugar de Gabaón se llamó Helkath Hazzurim.
17 And the battel was exceeding sore that same day: for Abner and the men of Israel fell before the seruants of Dauid.
La batalla fue muy dura aquel día, y Abner y los hombres de Israel fueron derrotados ante los servidores de David.
18 And there were three sonnes of Zeruiah there, Ioab, and Abishai, and Asahel. And Asahel was as light on foote as a wilde roe.
Los tres hijos de Sarvia estaban allí: Joab, Abisai y Asael. Asael era ligero de pies como una gacela salvaje.
19 And Asahel followed after Abner, and in going he turned neither to the right hand nor to the left from Abner.
Asael persiguió a Abner. No se volvió ni a la derecha ni a la izquierda de seguir a Abner.
20 Then Abner looked behind him, and said, Art thou Asahel? And he answered, Yea.
Entonces Abner miró detrás de él y dijo: “¿Eres tú, Asahel?” Respondió: “Lo es”.
21 Then Abner said, Turne thee either to the right hande, or to the left, and take one of the yong men, and take thee his weapons: and Asahel would not depart from him.
Abner le dijo: “Vuélvete a tu derecha o a tu izquierda, agarra a uno de los jóvenes y toma su armadura”. Pero Asahel no quiso dejar de seguirlo.
22 And Abner saide to Asahel, Depart from me: wherefore shoulde I smite thee to the grounde? howe then shoulde I be able to holde vp my face to Ioab thy brother?
Abner le dijo de nuevo a Asael: “Apártate de seguirme. ¿Por qué habría de tirarte al suelo? ¿Cómo podría entonces mirar a la cara a tu hermano Joab?”
23 And when he woulde not depart, Abner with the hinder ende of the speare smote him vnder the fift ryb, that the speare came out behind him: and he fell downe there, and dyed in his place. And as many as came to the place where Asahel fell downe and dyed, stoode still.
Sin embargo, él se negó a apartarse. Entonces Abner, con el extremo posterior de la lanza, lo golpeó en el cuerpo, de modo que la lanza salió por detrás de él; y allí cayó y murió en el mismo lugar. Todos los que llegaron al lugar donde cayó y murió Asael se detuvieron.
24 Ioab also and Abishai pursued after Abner: and the sunne went downe, when they were come to the hill Ammah, that lieth before Giah, by the way of the wildernesse of Gibeon.
Pero Joab y Abisai persiguieron a Abner. El sol se puso cuando llegaron a la colina de Amma, que está frente a Giah por el camino del desierto de Gabaón.
25 And the children of Beniamin gathered them selues together after Abner, and were on an heape and stoode on the top of an hill.
Los hijos de Benjamín se reunieron en pos de Abner y se convirtieron en un solo grupo, y se pusieron en la cima de la colina.
26 Then Abner called to Ioab, and said, Shall the sworde deuoure for euer? knowest thou not, that it will be bitternesse in the latter ende? howe long then shall it be, or thou bid the people returne from following their brethren?
Entonces Abner llamó a Joab y le dijo: “¿La espada va a devorar para siempre? ¿No sabes que al final será amarga? ¿Cuánto tiempo pasará entonces, antes de que pidas al pueblo que vuelva de seguir a sus hermanos?”
27 And Ioab sayde, As God liueth, if thou haddest not spoken, surely euen in the morning the people had departed euery one backe from his brother.
Joab dijo: “Vive Dios, si no hubieras hablado, seguramente por la mañana el pueblo se habría ido, y no habría seguido cada uno a su hermano”.
28 So Ioab blew a trumpet, and all the people stoode still, and pursued after Israel no more, neither fought they any more.
Así que Joab tocó la trompeta, y todo el pueblo se detuvo y no persiguió más a Israel, y no lucharon más.
29 And Abner and his men walked all that night through the plaine, and went ouer Iorden, and past through all Bithron till they came to Mahanaim.
Abner y sus hombres recorrieron toda aquella noche el Arabá, y pasaron el Jordán, atravesaron todo Bitrón y llegaron a Mahanaim.
30 Ioab also returned backe from Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of Dauids seruants nineteene men and Asahel.
Joab regresó de seguir a Abner, y cuando reunió a todo el pueblo, faltaban diecinueve hombres de David y Asael.
31 But the seruants of Dauid had smitten of Beniamin, and of Abners men, so that three hundreth and threescore men dyed.
Pero los siervos de David habían herido a los hombres de Abner, de modo que murieron trescientos sesenta hombres.
32 And they tooke vp Asahel, and buried him in the sepulchre of his father, which was in Bethlehem: and Ioab and his men went all night, and when they came to Hebron, the day arose.
Recogieron a Asael y lo enterraron en la tumba de su padre, que estaba en Belén. Joab y sus hombres pasaron toda la noche, y el día amaneció en Hebrón.
