2 Peter 3

1 This seconde Epistle I nowe write vnto you, beloued, wherewith I stirre vp, and warne your pure mindes,

Amados, escrevo-vos agora esta segunda carta, em ambas as quaes desperto com exhortação o vosso animo sincero;

2 To call to remembrance the wordes, which were tolde before of the holy Prophetes, and also the commandement of vs the Apostles of the Lord and Sauiour.

Para que vos lembreis das palavras que d'antes foram ditas pelos sanctos prophetas, e do mandamento do Senhor e Salvador, mediante vossos apostolos.

3 This first vnderstande, that there shall come in the last dayes, mockers, which wil walke after their lustes,

Sabendo primeiro isto: que nos ultimos dias virão escarnecedores, andando segundo as suas proprias concupiscencias,

4 And say, Where is the promise of his comming? for since the fathers died, all things continue alike from the beginning of the creation.

E dizendo: Onde está a promessa da sua vinda? porque desde que os paes dormiram todas as coisas permanecem como desde o principio da creação.

5 For this they willingly know not, that the heauens were of olde, and the earth that was of the water and by the water, by the word of God.

Porque voluntariamente ignoram isto, que pela palavra de Deus já desde a antiguidade foram os céus, e a terra, que foi tirada da agua e no meio da agua subsiste.

6 Wherefore the worlde that then was, perished, ouerflowed with the water.

Pelas quaes coisas pereceu o mundo de então, coberto com as aguas do diluvio.

7 But the heauens and earth, which are nowe, are kept by the same word in store, and reserued vnto fire against the day of condemnation, and of the destruction of vngodly men.

Mas os céus e a terra que agora são pela mesma palavra se reservam como thesouro e se guardam para o fogo, até o dia do juizo, e da perdição dos homens impios.

8 Dearely beloued, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord, as a thousande yeeres, and a thousande yeeres as one day.

Porém, amados, não ignoreis uma coisa: que um dia para com o Senhor é como mil annos, e mil annos como um dia.

9 The Lord of that promise is not slacke (as some men count slackenesse) but is pacient toward vs, and would haue no man to perish, but would all men to come to repentance.

O Senhor não retarda a sua promessa, como alguns a teem por tardia; mas é longanimo para comnosco, não querendo que alguns se percam, senão que todos venham a arrepender-se.

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thiefe in the night, in the which the heauens shall passe away with a noyse, and the elements shall melt with heate, and the earth with the workes that are therein, shalbe burnt vp.

Mas o dia do Senhor virá como o ladrão de noite; no qual os céus passarão com grande estrondo, e os elementos, ardendo, se desfarão, e a terra, e as obras que n'ella ha, se queimarão.

11 Seeing therefore that all these thinges must be dissolued, what maner persons ought ye to be in holy conuersation and godlinesse,

Havendo pois de perecer todas estas coisas, quaes vos convém a vós ser em sancto trato, e piedade,

12 Looking for, and hasting vnto the comming of that day of God, by the which the heauens being on fire, shall be dissolued, and the elements shall melt with heate?

Aguardando, e apressando-vos para a vinda do dia de Deus, em que os céus, incendidos, se desfarão, e os elementos, ardendo, se fundirão?

13 But wee looke for newe heauens, and a newe earth, according to his promise, wherein dwelleth righteousnesse.

Porém, segundo a sua promessa, aguardamos novos céus e nova terra, em que habita a justiça.

14 Wherefore, beloued, seeing that yee looke for such thinges, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blamelesse.

Pelo que, amados, aguardando estas coisas, procurae que d'elle sejaes achados immaculados e irreprehensiveis em paz.

15 And suppose that the long suffering of our Lord is saluation, euen as our beloued brother Paul according to the wisedome giuen vnto him wrote to you,

E tende por salvação a longanimidade de nosso Senhor; como tambem o nosso amado irmão Paulo vos escreveu, segundo a sabedoria que lhe foi dada;

16 As one, that in all his Epistles speaketh of these thinges: among the which some thinges are hard to be vnderstand, which they that are vnlearned and vnstable, wrest, as they do also other Scriptures vnto their owne destruction.

Como tambem em todas as suas epistolas, fallando n'ellas d'estas coisas, entre as quaes ha algumas difficeis de entender, que os indoutos e inconstantes torcem, como tambem as outras Escripturas, para sua propria perdição.

17 Ye therefore beloued, seeing ye know these thinges before, beware, lest ye be also plucked away with the errour of the wicked, and fall from your owne stedfastnesse.

Vós, portanto, amados, sabendo isto d'antes, guardae-vos de que, pelo engano dos homens abominaveis, sejaes juntamente arrebatados, e descaiaes da vossa firmeza;

18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ: to him be glory both now and for euermore. Amen. (aiōn g165)

Antes crescei na graça e conhecimento de nosso Senhor e Salvador, Jesus Christo. A elle seja a gloria, assim agora, como no dia da eternidade. Amen. (aiōn g165)
