2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter a seruant and an Apostle of Iesus Christ, to you which haue obteined like precious faith with vs by the righteousnesse of our God and Sauiour Iesus Christ:
Simón Pedro, siervo y apóstol de Jesucristo, a los que han alcanzado fe, no menos preciosa que la nuestra, en la justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you, through the acknowledging of God, and of Iesus our Lord,
la gracia y la paz sean multiplicadas en vosotros por el conocimiento de Dios y de Jesús nuestro Señor.
3 According as his diuine power hath giuen vnto vs all things that perteine vnto life and godlinesse, through the acknowledging of him that hath called vs vnto glory and vertue.
Pues, mediante ese conocimiento de Aquel que nos llamó para su gloria y virtud, su divino poder nos ha dado todas las cosas conducentes a la vida y a la piedad,
4 Whereby most great and precious promises are giuen vnto vs, that by them ye should be partakers of the diuine nature, in that ye flee the corruption, which is in the worlde through lust.
por medio de las cuales nos han sido obsequiados los preciosos y grandísimos bienes prometidos, para que merced a ellos llegaseis a ser partícipes de la naturaleza divina, huyendo de la corrupción del mundo que vive en concupiscencias.
5 Therefore giue euen all diligence thereunto: ioyne moreouer vertue with your faith: and with vertue, knowledge:
Por tanto, poned todo vuestro empeño en unir a vuestra fe la rectitud, a la rectitud el conocimiento,
6 And with knowledge, temperance: and with temperance, patience: and with patience, godlines:
al conocimiento la templanza, a la templanza la paciencia, a la paciencia la piedad,
7 And with godlines, brotherly kindnes: and with brotherly kindnes, loue.
a la piedad el amor fraternal, y al amor fraternal la caridad.
8 For if these things be among you, and abound, they will make you that ye neither shalbe idle, nor vnfruitfull in the acknowledging of our Lord Iesus Christ:
Porque si estas cosas están en vosotros y crecen, os impiden estar ociosos y sin fruto en el conocimiento de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
9 For he that hath not these things, is blinde, and can not see farre off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his olde sinnes.
En cambio, quien no las posee está ciego y anda a tientas, olvidado de la purificación de sus antiguos pecados.
10 Wherefore, brethren, giue rather diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye doe these things, ye shall neuer fall.
Por lo cual, hermanos, esforzaos más por hacer segura vuestra vocación y elección; porque haciendo esto no tropezaréis jamás.
11 For by this meanes an entring shalbe ministred vnto you aboundantly into the euerlasting kingdome of our Lord and Sauiour Iesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
Y de este modo os estará ampliamente abierto el acceso al reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. (aiōnios g166)
12 Wherefore, I will not be negligent to put you alwayes in remembrance of these things, though that ye haue knowledge, and be stablished in the present trueth.
Por esto me empeñaré siempre en recordaros estas cosas, aunque las conozcáis y estéis firmes en la verdad actual.
13 For I thinke it meete as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stirre you vp by putting you in remembrance,
Porque creo de mi deber, mientras estoy en esta tienda de campaña, despertaros con amonestaciones,
14 Seeing I knowe that the time is at hand that I must lay downe this my tabernacle, euen as our Lord Iesus Christ hath shewed me.
ya que sé que pronto vendrá el despojamiento de mi tienda, como me lo hizo saber el mismo Señor nuestro Jesucristo.
15 I will endeuour therefore alwayes, that ye also may be able to haue remembrance of these things after my departing.
Procuraré, sin embargo, que, aun después de mi partida, tengáis siempre cómo traeros a la memoria estas cosas.
16 For we followed not deceiuable fables when we opened vnto you the power, and comming of our Lord Iesus Christ, but with our eyes we saw his maiestie:
Porque no os hemos dado a conocer el poder y la Parusía de nuestro Señor Jesucristo según fábulas inventadas, sino como testigos oculares que fuimos de su majestad.
17 For he receiued of God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voyce to him from that excellent glory, This is my beloued Sonne, in whom I am well pleased.
Pues Él recibió de Dios Padre honor y gloria cuando de la Gloria majestuosísima le fue enviada aquella voz: “Este es mi Hijo amado en quien Yo me complazco”;
18 And this voyce we heard when it came from heauen, being with him in the Holy mount.
Y esta voz enviada del cielo la oímos nosotros, estando con Él en el monte santo.
19 We haue also a most sure worde of the Prophets, to the which ye doe well that yee take heede, as vnto a light that shineth in a darke place, vntill the day dawne, and the day starre arise in your hearts.
Y tenemos también, más segura aún, la palabra profética, a la cual bien hacéis en ateneros —como a una lámpara que alumbra en un lugar oscuro hasta que amanezca el día y el astro de la mañana se levante en vuestros corazones—
20 So that yee first knowe this, that no prophecie of the Scripture is of any priuate interpretation.
entendiendo esto ante todo: que ninguna profecía de la Escritura es obra de propia iniciativa;
21 For the prophecie came not in olde time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moued by the holy Ghost.
porque jamás profecía alguna trajo su origen de voluntad de hombre, sino que impulsados por el Espíritu Santo hablaron hombres de parte de Dios.
