2 Kings 7

1 Then Elisha saide, Heare ye the worde of the Lord: thus saith the Lord, To morowe this time a measure of fine floure shalbe solde for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria.

Então disse Eliseo: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor: assim diz o Senhor: amanhã, quase a este tempo, uma medida de farinha haverá por um siclo, e duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, à porta de Samaria.

2 Then a prince, on whose hande the King leaned, answered the man of God, and saide, Though the Lord would make windowes in the heauen, could this thing come to passe? And he said, Beholde, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not eate thereof.

Porém um capitão, em cuja mão o rei se encostava, respondeu ao homem de Deus e disse: Eis que ainda que o Senhor fizesse janelas no céu, poder-se-ia fazer isso? E ele disse: Eis que o verás com os teus olhos, porém daí não comerás.

3 Nowe there were foure leprous men at the entring in of the gate: and they saide one to an other, Why sitte we here vntill we die?

E quatro homens leprosos estavam à entrada da porta, os quais disseram uns aos outros: Para que estaremos nós aqui até morrermos?

4 If we say, We will enter into the citie, the famine is in the citie, and we shall die there: and if we sit here, we dye also. Nowe therefore come, and let vs fall into the campe of the Aramites: if they saue our liues, we shall liue: and if they kill vs, we are but dead.

Se dissermos: Entremos na cidade, há fome na cidade, e morreremos ai; e se ficarmos aqui, também morreremos: vamos nós pois agora, e demos conosco no arraial dos siros: se nos deixarem viver, viveremos, e se nos matarem, tão somente morreremos.

5 So they rose vp in the twilight, to goe to the campe of the Aramites: and when they were come to the vtmost part of the campe of the Aramites, loe, there was no man there.

E levantaram-se ao crepúsculo, para se irem ao arraial dos siros: e, chegando à entrada do arraial dos siros, eis que não havia ali ninguém.

6 For the Lord had caused the campe of the Aramites to heare a noyse of charets and a noise of horses, and a noise of a great armie, so that they sayde one to another, Beholde, the King of Israel hath hired against vs the Kings of the Hittites, and the Kings of the Egyptians to come vpon vs.

Porque o Senhor fizera ouvir no arraial dos siros ruído de carros e ruído de cavalos, como o ruído dum grande exército; de maneira que disseram uns aos outros: Eis que o rei de Israel alugou contra nós os reis dos heteus e os reis dos egípcios, para virem contra nós.

7 Wherefore they arose, and fled in the twilight, and left their tentes and their horses, and their asses, euen the campe as it was, and fledde for their liues.

Pelo que se levantaram, e fugiram no crepúsculo, e deixaram as suas tendas, e os seus cavalos, e os seus jumentos, e o arraial como estava: e fugiram para salvarem a sua vida.

8 And when these lepers came to the vtmost part of the campe, they entred into one tent, and did eate and drinke, and caryed thence siluer and golde, and raiment, and went and hid it: after they returned, and entred into another tent, and caryed thence also, and went and hid it.

Chegando pois estes leprosos à entrada do arraial, entraram numa tenda, e comeram e beberam e tomaram dali prata, e ouro, e vestidos, e foram e os esconderam: então voltaram, e entraram em outra tenda, e dali também tomaram, e o esconderam.

9 Then saide one to another, We doe not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we holde our peace. if we tary till day light, some mischiefe will come vpon vs. Nowe therefore, come, let vs goe, and tell the Kings housholde.

Então disseram uns para os outros: Não fazemos bem: este dia é dia de boas novas, e nos calamos; se esperarmos até à luz da manhã, algum mal nos sobrevirá; pelo que agora vamos, e o anunciemos à casa do rei.

10 So they came, and called vnto the porters of the citie, and tolde them, saying, We came to the campe of the Aramites, and loe, there was no man there, neither voyce of man, but horses tyed and asses tyed: and the tents are as they were.

Vieram pois, e bradaram aos porteiros da cidade, e lhes anunciaram, dizendo: Fomos ao arraial dos siros e eis que lá não havia ninguém, nem voz de homem, porém só cavalos atados, e jumentos atados, e as tendas como estavam de antes.

11 And the porters cryed and declared to the Kings house within.

E chamaram os porteiros, e o anunciaram dentro da casa do rei.

12 Then the King arose in the night, and saide vnto his seruants, I wil shew you now, what the Aramites haue done vnto vs. They know that we are affamished, therefore they are gone out of the campe to hide them selues in the fielde, saying, When they come out of the citie, we shall catch them aliue, and get into the citie.

E o rei se levantou de noite, e disse a seus servos: Agora vos farei saber o que é que os siros nos fizeram: bem sabem eles que esfaimados estamos, pelo que sairam do arraial, a esconder-se pelo campo, dizendo: Quando sairem da cidade, então os tomaremos vivos, e entraremos na cidade.

13 And one of his seruants answered, and said, Let me take now fiue of the horses that remaine, and are left in the citie, (behold, they are euen as all the multitude of Israel that are left therein: beholde, I say, they are as the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed) and we wil send to see.

Então um dos seus servos respondeu e disse: Tomem-se pois cinco dos cavalos do resto que ficaram aqui dentro (eis que são como toda a multidão dos israelitas que ficaram aqui de resto, e eis que são como toda a multidão dos israelitas que já pereceram) e enviemo-los, e vejamos.

14 So they tooke two charets of horses, and the King sent after the hoste of the Aramites, saying, Goe and see.

Tomaram pois dois cavalos de carro; e o rei os enviou após o exército dos siros, dizendo: Ide, e vede.

15 And they went after them vnto Iorden, and loe, all the way was full of clothes and vessels which the Aramites had cast from them in their hast: and the messengers returned, and told ye King.

E foram após eles até ao Jordão, e eis que todo o caminho estava cheio de vestidos e de aviamentos, que os siros, apressando-se, lançaram fora: e voltaram os mensageiros, e o anunciaram ao rei:

16 Then the people went out and spoyled the campe of the Aramites: so a measure of fine floure was at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel according to the word of the Lord.

Então saiu o povo, e saqueou o arraial dos siros: e havia uma medida de farinha por um siclo, e duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, conforme a palavra do Senhor.

17 And the King gaue the prince (on whose hande he leaned) the charge of the gate, and the people trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed, as the man of God had saide, which spake it, when the King came downe to him.

E pusera o rei à porta o capitão em cuja mão se encostava; e o povo o atropelou na porta, e morreu, como falara o homem de Deus, o que falou quando o rei descera a ele.

18 And it came to passe, as the man of God had spoken to the King, saying, Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine floure shall be at a shekel, to morowe about this time in the gate of Samaria.

Porque assim sucedeu como o homem de Deus falara ao rei dizendo: amanhã, quase a este tempo, haverá duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, e uma medida de farinha por um siclo, à porta de Samaria.

19 But the prince had answered the man of God, and saide, Though the Lord would make windowes in the heauen, coulde it come so to passe? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not eate thereof.

E aquele capitão respondeu ao homem de Deus, e disse: Eis que ainda que o Senhor fizesse janelas no céu, poder-se-ia isso fazer conforme essa palavra? E ele disse: Eis que o verás com os teus olhos, porém daí não comerás.

20 And so it came vnto him: for the people trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed.

E assim lhe sucedeu, porque o povo o atropelou à porta, e morreu.
