2 Kings 23
1 Then the King sent, and there gathered vnto him all the Elders of Iudah and of Ierusalem.
Vua triệu tập tất cả trưởng lão Giu-đa và kinh thành Giê-ru-sa-lem lại.
2 And the King went vp into the house of the Lord, with all the men of Iudah and all the inhabitants of Ierusalem with him, and the Priests and Prophets, and all the people both small and great: and he reade in their eares all the wordes of the booke of the couenant, which was found in the house of the Lord.
Họ theo vua lên Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu với các thầy tế lễ, tiên tri, và với tất cả người Giu-đa, cả dân cư Giê-ru-sa-lem, cả lớn lẫn bé. Vua đọc cho họ nghe quyển Sách Giao Ước vừa tìm được trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
3 And the King stood by the pillar, and made a couenant before the Lord, that they shoulde walke after the Lord, and keepe his commandements, and his testimonies, and his statutes with all their heart, and with all their soule, that they might accomplish the wordes of this couenant written in this booke. And all the people stood to the couenant.
Vua đứng bên trụ cột, hứa nguyện trung thành với Chúa Hằng Hữu, hết lòng tuân giữ điều răn, luật lệ chép trong sách. Toàn dân cũng hứa nguyện như thế.
4 Then the King commanded Hilkiah the hie Priest and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the doore, to bring out of ye Temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the groue, and for all the hoste of heauen, and he burnt them without Ierusalem in the fieldes of Kedron, and caryed the pouder of them into Beth-el.
Vua ra lệnh cho thầy thượng tế Hinh-kia, các thầy tế lễ, và những người coi giữ đền của Chúa Hằng Hữu lấy những vật dùng cho việc cúng tế Ba-anh, A-sê-ra, và các tinh tú trên trời đem ra Đồng Kít-rôn, bên ngoài thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, thiêu hủy hết, rồi lấy tro bỏ tại Bê-tên.
5 And he put downe the Chemarims, whom the Kings of Iudah had founded to burne incense in the hie places, and in the cities of Iudah, and about Ierusalem, and also them that burnt incense vnto Baal, to the sunne and to the moone, and to the planets, and to all the hoste of heauen.
Vua cũng phế bỏ chức tế lễ cho các tà thần do các vua đời trước lập lên để lo việc cúng tế, đốt hương trong các miếu trên đồi, khắp nước Giu-đa và chung quanh Giê-ru-sa-lem, là những người đã đốt hương cho Ba-anh, mặt trời, mặt trăng, và các tinh tú.
6 And he brought out the groue from the Temple of the Lord without Ierusalem vnto the valley of Kedron, and burnt it in the valley Kedron, and stampt it to pouder, and cast the dust thereof vpon the graues of the children of the people.
Vua sai đem tượng A-sê-ra trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu ra bên Suối Kít-rôn, ngoài thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, thiêu hủy, nghiền nát, rồi đem tro bỏ trên mồ thường dân.
7 And hee brake downe the houses of the Sodomites, that were in the house of the Lord, where the women woue hangings for the groue.
Giô-si-a phá các nhà chứa mãi dâm nam và nữ trong khuôn viên Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu, là nơi các phụ nữ đã dệt áo cho thần A-sê-ra.
8 Also he brought all the priests out of the cities of Iudah, and defiled the hie places where the Priests had burnt incense, euen from Geba to Beer-sheba, and destroyed the hie places of the gates, that were in the entring in of the gate of Ioshua the gouernour of the citie, which was at the left hand of the gate of the citie.
Giô-si-a tập trung các thầy tế lễ tà thần từ khắp nơi trong xứ Giu-đa lại một chỗ, triệt hạ các miếu trên đồi, nơi trước kia họ đã từng đốt hương, từ Ghê-ba cho đến Bê-e-sê-ba. Vua cũng phá hủy các miếu nơi cổng ra vào dinh Giô-suê, tổng trấn Giê-ru-sa-lem. Dinh này ở bên trái cổng thành, nếu nhìn từ bên ngoài vào.
9 Neuerthelesse the Priests of the hie places came not vp to the altar of the Lord in Ierusalem, saue onely they did eate of the vnleauened bread among their brethren.
Tuy các thầy tế lễ của các miếu trên đồi không được đến gần bàn thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, nhưng họ được ăn bánh không men với các anh em mình.
10 He defiled also Topheth, which was in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man shoulde make his sonne or his daughter passe through the fire to Molech.
Giô-si-a phá hủy bàn thờ Tô-phết tại thung lũng Bên Hi-nôm, để không ai còn thiêu sống con trai mình làm của lễ tế thần Mô-lóc nữa.
11 He put downe also the horses that the Kings of Iudah had giuen to the sunne at the entring in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nethan-melech the eunuche, which was ruler of the suburbes, and burnt the charets of the sunne with fire.
Vua bỏ đi các tượng ngựa dựng gần cổng đền thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu, trước dinh của Thái giám Nê-than Mê-léc; còn các xe ngựa vua cũng đốt hết. Tượng ngựa và các xe này được các vua Giu-đa đời trước dâng cho thần mặt trời.
12 And the altars that were on the top of the chamber of Ahaz, which the Kings of Iudah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord did the King breake downe, and hasted thence, and cast the dust of them in the brooke Kedron.
Vua phá những bàn thờ các vua Giu-đa đời trước xây trên nóc lầu A-cha; còn các bàn thờ Ma-na-se đã xây trong hai hành lang Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu vua cũng đập tan nát rồi đem bụi đổ xuống Trũng Kít-rôn.
13 Moreouer the King defiled the hie places that were before Ierusalem and on the right hand of the mount of corruption (which Salomon the King of Israel had buylt for Ashtoreth the idole of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the idole of the Moabites, and for Milchom the abomination of the children of Ammon)
Vua cũng phá hủy các miếu trên đồi về phía đông Giê-ru-sa-lem và phía nam đồi Tham Nhũng. Các miếu này được Vua Sa-lô-môn cất để thờ Át-tạt-tê, Kê-mốt, Minh-côm, là các thần đáng tởm của người Si-đôn, Mô-áp, và Am-môn,
14 And he brake the images in pieces, and cut downe the groues and filled their places with the bones of men.
Vua nghiền nát các trụ thờ, đốn ngã tượng A-sê-ra, lấy xương người chết bỏ đầy các nơi này.
15 Furthermore the altar that was at Beth-el, and the hie place made by Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, both this altar and also the hie place, brake he downe, and burnt the hie place, and stampt it to powder and burnt the groue.
Giô-si-a phá tan bàn thờ và miếu trên đồi Bê-tên do Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát, là người đã khiến cho Ít-ra-ên phạm tội, xây lên. Vua nghiền tượng đá nát ra như cám, còn tượng A-sê-ra vua đốt đi.
16 And as Iosiah turned himselfe, he spied the graues, that were in the mount, and sent and tooke the bones out of the graues, and burnt them vpon the altar and polluted it, according to the word of the Lord, that the man of God proclaimed, which cryed the same wordes.
Khi Giô-si-a nhìn quanh thấy trên đồi có những nấm mồ, liền sai người đào lấy xương, đem đốt trên bàn thờ để làm nó ô uế. (Đúng như lời Chúa Hằng Hữu dùng người của Đức Chúa Trời loan báo trước khi Giê-rô-bô-am đứng bên bàn thờ trong kỳ lễ).
17 Then he sayde, What title is that which I see? And the men of the citie sayd vnto him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Iudah, and tolde these things that thou hast done to the altar of Beth-el.
Rồi Giô-si-a quay lại nhìn mộ người của Đức Chúa Trời. Vua hỏi: “Đằng kia có cái bia gì thế?” Những người ở thành này đáp: “Đó là mộ người của Đức Chúa Trời, từ Giu-đa đến, nói tiên tri về những việc vua vừa mới làm cho bàn thờ Bê-tên này!”
18 Then sayde he, Let him alone: let none remooue his bones. So his bones were saued with the bones of the Prophet that came from Samaria.
Vua ra lệnh: “Không ai được đụng đến mộ ấy.” Vì thế không ai đụng đến mồ này cũng như mồ của tiên tri già ở Sa-ma-ri.
19 Iosiah also tooke away all the houses of the hie places, which were in the cities of Samaria, which the Kings of Israel had made to anger the Lord, and did to them according to all the factes that he had done in Beth-el.
Ngoài ra, Giô-si-a còn phá hủy các miếu trên đồi tại các thành thuộc xứ Sa-ma-ri mà các vua Ít-ra-ên trước kia đã xây cất và chọc Chúa Hằng Hữu giận. Cũng như các miếu tại Bê-tên, các miếu ấy bị Giô-si-a phá tan sạch.
20 And he sacrificed all the Priests of the hie places, that were there vpon the altars, and burnt mens bones vpon them, and returned to Ierusalem.
Vua bắt các thầy tế lễ tà thần phục vụ tại các miếu này và đem giết hết trên bàn thờ của họ. Ngoài ra, vua còn lấy xương người chết đốt trên bàn thờ. Xong việc, vua trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.
21 Then the king commanded all the people, saying, Keepe the passeouer vnto the Lord your God, as it is written in the booke of this couenant.
Vua truyền cho toàn dân phải giữ lễ Vượt Qua theo đúng lệnh của Chúa Hằng Hữu được chép trong Sách Giao Ước.
22 And there was no Passeouer holden like that from the dayes of the Iudges that iudged Israel, nor in all the dayes of the Kinges of Israel, and of the Kings of Iudah.
Từ đời các phán quan cũng như dưới đời các vua Ít-ra-ên và vua Giu-đa từ trước đến nay mới có một lễ Vượt Qua cử hành long trọng như thế.
23 And in the eightenth yere of King Iosiah was this Passeouer celebrated to the Lord in Ierusalem.
Lễ Vượt Qua này được cử hành cho Chúa Hằng Hữu tại Giê-ru-sa-lem vào năm thứ mười tám đời vua Giô-si-a.
24 Iosiah also tooke away them that had familiar spirits, and the soothsayers, and the images, and the idoles, and al the abominations that were espied in the lande of Iudah and in Ierusalem, to performe the wordes of the Lawe, which were written in the booke that Hilkiah the Priest found in the house of the Lord.
Ngoài ra, Giô-si-a còn trừ diệt những bọn đồng bóng, phù thủy, cấm thờ các thần trong nhà, các thần tượng khác trong thành Giê-ru-sa-lem, và cả nước Giu-đa. Vua triệt để thi hành từng điều khoản chép trong sách luật mà Thầy Tế lễ Hinh-kia đã tìm thấy trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
25 Like vnto him was there no King before him, that turned to the Lord with al his heart, and with all his soule, and with all his might according to all the Lawe of Moses, neither after him arose there anie like him.
Những đời vua trước cũng như các đời vua sau, không một vua nào hết lòng, hết tâm hồn, hết sức, hướng về Chúa Hằng Hữu và triệt để tuân hành luật Môi-se như Giô-si-a.
26 Notwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fiercenesse of his great wrath wherewith he was angrie against Iudah, because of all the prouocatios wherwith Manasseh had prouoked him.
Tuy nhiên, vì tội lỗi của Ma-na-se đã khiêu khích Chúa Hằng Hữu quá độ, nên Ngài vẫn không nguôi cơn thịnh nộ trên Giu-đa.
27 Therefore the Lord saide, I will put Iudah also out of my sight, as I haue put away Israel, and will cast off this citie Ierusalem, which I haue chosen, and the house whereof I said, My name shalbe there.
Ngài phán: “Ta sẽ đuổi Giu-đa đi khỏi mặt Ta, như Ta đã đuổi Ít-ra-ên. Ta sẽ loại bỏ Giê-ru-sa-lem Ta đã chọn, loại bỏ cả Đền Thờ, nơi Danh Ta được tôn vinh.”
28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Iosiah, and all that hee did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Các việc khác của Giô-si-a đều được chép trong Sách Lịch Sử Các Vua Giu-đa.
29 In his dayes Pharaoh Nechoh King of Egypt went vp against the King of Asshur to the riuer Perath. And King Iosiah went against him, whome when Pharaoh sawe, he slewe him at Megiddo.
Lúc ấy, Nê-cô, Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô, vua Ai Cập đi đánh vua A-sy-ri tại Sông Ơ-phơ-rát. Vua Giô-si-a đến gặp vua Ai Cập. Nhưng khi vừa trông thấy, Nê-cô liền giết chết Giô-si-a tại chỗ.
30 Then his seruants caryed him dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Ierusalem, and buried him in his owne sepulchre. And the people of the lande tooke Iehoahaz the sonne of Iosiah, and anointed him, and made him King in his fathers steade.
Các bầy tôi chở xác Giô-si-a từ Mê-ghi-đô về Giê-ru-sa-lem, và chôn trong ngôi mộ của vua. Toàn dân tôn Giô-a-cha, con Giô-si-a, lên làm vua kế vị.
31 Iehoahaz was three and twentie yeere olde when he beganne to reigne, and reigned three moneths in Ierusalem. His mothers name also was Hamutal the daughter of Ieremiah of Libnah.
Giô-a-cha được hai mươi ba tuổi lúc lên ngôi, và cai trị ba tháng tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là Ha-mu-ta, con Giê-rê-mi, ở Líp-na.
32 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
Vua làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu giống như các vua đời trước.
33 And Pharaoh Nechoh put him in bondes at Riblah in the lande of Hamath, while he reigned in Ierusalem, and put the lande to a tribute of an hundreth talents of siluer, and a talent of golde.
Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô, vua Ai Cập bắt Giô-a-cha giam tại Ríp-la thuộc đất Ha-mát, không cho làm vua tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, và bắt Giu-đa phải nạp cống 3.400 ký bạc và 34 ký vàng.
34 And Pharaoh Nechoh made Eliakim the sonne of Iosiah King in steade of Iosiah his father, and turned his name to Iehoiakim, and tooke Iehoahaz away, which when he came to Egypt, dyed there.
Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô lập một người con khác của Giô-si-a là Ê-li-a-kim lên làm vua, và đổi tên ra Giê-hô-gia-kim. Nê-cô cũng đem Giô-a-cha về Ai Cập, và giam giữ cho đến chết.
35 And Iehoiakim gaue the siluer and the golde to Pharaoh, and taxed the land to giue the money, according to the commadement of Pharaoh: he leuyed of euery man of the people of the lande, according to his value, siluer and golde to giue vnto Pharaoh Nechoh.
Giê-hô-gia-kim đánh thuế dân, lấy vàng, bạc, nạp cho Pha-ra-ôn Nê-cô, vua Ai Cập.
36 Iehoiakim was fiue and twentie yere olde, when he began to reigne, and he reigned eleuen yeeres in Ierusalem. His mothers name also was Zebudah the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
Giê-hô-gia-kim được hai mươi lăm tuổi lúc lên ngôi, và cai trị mười một năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Mẹ vua là Xê-bu-đa, con Phê-đa-gia, ở Ru-ma.
37 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
Vua làm điều ác trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu như các vua đời trước đã làm.
