2 Kings 14

1 The second yeere of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel reigned Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah.

Im zweiten Jahre Joas', des Sohnes Joahas', des Königs von Israel, ward Amazja König, der Sohn Jehoas', des Königs von Juda.

2 He was fiue and twentie yeere olde when he began to reigne, and reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iehoadan of Ierusalem.

Fünfundzwanzig Jahre war er alt, als er König ward, und neunundzwanzig Jahre regierte er zu Jerusalem. Seine Mutter aber hieß Joadin und stammte aus Jerusalem.

3 And he did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, yet not like Dauid his father, but did according to all that Ioash his father had done.

Und er that, was Jahwe wohlgefiel, jedoch nicht ganz, wie sein Ahnherr David; vielmehr that er ganz, wie sein Vater Jehoas gethan hatte.

4 Notwithstanding the hie places were not taken away: for as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense in the hie places.

Nur wurden die Höhen nicht abgeschafft; das Volk opferte und räucherte noch immer auf den Höhen.

5 And when the kingdome was confirmed in his hand, he slewe his seruants which had killed the King his father.

Sobald er aber die königliche Macht fest in den Händen hatte, ließ er seine Diener, die den König, seinen Vater, erschlagen hatten, töten.

6 But the children of those that did slay him, he slewe not, according vnto that that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers: but euery man shall be put to death for his owne sinne.

Die Kinder der Totschläger ließ er jedoch nicht hinrichten, nach dem Gebote Jahwes, das im Gesetzbuche Moses geschrieben steht und so lautet: Es sollen nicht Väter um der Kinder willen und Kinder um der Väter willen mit dem Tode bestraft werden; sondern ein jeder soll nur wegen seines eigenen Vergehens getötet werden dürfen.

7 He slew also of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and tooke the citie of Sela by warre, and called the name thereof Ioktheel vnto this day.

Er war es, der die Edomiter, zehntausend Mann, im Salzthale schlug und die Stadt Sela eroberte; und er nannte sie Joktheel, und so heißt sie bis auf den heutigen Tag.

8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz, sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.

Damals sandte Amazja Boten an Joas, den Sohn Joahas', des Sohnes Jehus, den König von Israel, und er ließ ihm sagen: Wohlan, wir wollen uns miteinander messen!

9 Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle.

Da ließ Joas: der König von Israel, Amazja, dem Könige von Juda, Folgendes entbieten: Die Distel auf dem Libanon sandte zur Ceder auf dem Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gieb deine Tochter meinem Sohne zum Weibe! Aber das Wild auf dem Libanon lief über die Distel und zertrat sie.

10 Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?

Weil du glücklich die Edomiter geschlagen hast, so reißt dich nun dein Hochmut fort. Habe den Ruhm und bleibe daheim! Warum willst du nur das Unglück herausfordern, daß du zu Falle kommest und Juda mit dir?

11 But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.

Aber Amazja wollte nicht hören. Da rückte Joas, der König von Israel, heran, und sie maßen sich miteinander, er und Amazja, der König von Juda, zu Bethsemes, welches zu Juda gehört.

12 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fledde euery man to their tents.

Und die Judäer wurden von den Israeliten geschlagen, so daß ein jeder in seine Heimat floh.

13 But Iehoash King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Iehoash the sonne of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.

Amazja aber, den König von Juda, den Sohn Jehoas', des Sohnes Ahasjahus, nahm Joas, der König von Israel, zu Bethsemes gefangen und brachte ihn nach Jerusalem. Und er legte in die Mauer Jerusalems eine Bresche vom Ephraimthhor an bis an das Eckthor, eine Strecke von vierhundert Ellen.

14 And he tooke all the gold and siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.

Und er nahm alles Gold und Silber und alles Geräte, die sich im Tempel Jahwes und in den Schatzkammern des königlichen Palastes vorfanden, dazu die Geiseln und kehrte nach Samaria zurück.

15 Concerning the rest of the acts of Iehoash which he did and his valiant deedes, and how he fought with Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Joas zu sagen ist, was er ausgeführt hat und seine tapferen Thaten, und wie er mit Amazja, dem Könige von Juda, Krieg geführt hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

16 And Iehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried at Samaria among the Kings of Israel: and Ieroboam his sonne reigned in his stead.

Und Joas legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward zu Samaria bei den Königen von Israel begraben. Und sein Sohn Jerobeam ward König an seiner Statt.

17 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, liued after the death of Iehoash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel fifteene yeere.

Amazja aber, der Sohn Jehoas', der König von Juda, lebte nach dem Tode Joas', des Sohnes Joahas', des Königs von Israel, noch fünfzehn Jahre.

18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?

Was aber sonst noch von Amazja zu sagen ist, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Juda.

19 But they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewe him there.

Und sie zettelten zu Jerusalem eine Verschwörung gegen ihn an. Da floh er nach Lachis; aber man sandte hinter ihm drein nach Lachis und ließ ihn daselbst ermorden.

20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Ierusalem with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.

Sodann hob man ihn auf den Wagen, und er ward zu Jerusalem bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids begraben.

21 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Azariah which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King for his father Amaziah.

Darauf nahm das ganze Volk von Juda den Asarja, obwohl er erst sechzehn Jahre alt war, und machten ihn an seines Vaters Amazja Statt zum Könige.

22 He built Elath, and restored it to Iudah, after that the King slept with his fathers.

Dieser befestigte Elath und brachte es wieder an Juda, nachdem sich der König zu seinen Vätern gelegt hatte.

23 In the fifteenth yeere of Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, was Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash made King ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned one and fourtie yeere.

Im fünfzehnten Jahre Amazjas, des Sohnes Jehoas', des Königs von Juda, ward Jerobeam, der Sohn Joas', des Königs von Israel, König zu Samaria und regierte einundvierzig Jahre.

24 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.

Und er that, was Jahwe mißfiel; er ließ nicht von allen Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, zu denen er Israel verführt hatte.

25 He restored the coast of Israel, from the entring of Hamath, vnto the Sea of the wildernesse, according to the worde of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by his seruant Ionah the sonne of Amittai the Prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.

Derselbe eroberte das israelitische Gebiet zurück, von da an, wo es nach Hamath hineingeht, bis zum Meere der Steppe, nach dem Wort Jahwes, des Gottes Israels, das er durch seinen Knecht, den Propheten Jona, den Sohn Amithais von Gath-Hahepher, geredet hatte.

26 For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.

Denn Jahwe hatte das bittere Elend Israels wahrgenommen, und Unmündige wie Mündige waren dahin, und es gab keinen Helfer für Israel.

27 Yet the Lord had not decreed to put out the name of Israel from vnder the heauen: therefore he preserued them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash.

Davon aber hatte Jahwe nicht geredet, daß er den Namen Israels austilgen wolle unter dem Himmel, und so half er ihnen durch Jerobeam, den Sohn Joas'.

28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ieroboam, and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Hamath to Iudah in Israel, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Was aber sonst noch von Jerobeam zu sagen ist und alles, was er ausgeführt hat, und seine tapferen Thaten, wie er Krieg geführt und wie er den einstigen jüdischen Anteil an Damaskus und Hamath an Israel zurückgebracht hat, das ist ja aufgezeichnet im Buche der Geschichte der Könige von Israel.

29 So Ieroboam slept with his fathers, euen with the Kings of Israel, and Zachariah his sonne reigned in his steade.

Und Jerobeam legte sich zu seinen Vätern und ward zu Samaria bei den Königen von Israel begraben. Und sein Sohn Sacharja ward König an seiner Statt.
