2 Kings 14
1 The second yeere of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel reigned Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah.
La deuxième année de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d'Israël, régna Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda.
2 He was fiue and twentie yeere olde when he began to reigne, and reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Iehoadan of Ierusalem.
Il avait vingt-cinq ans, lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s'appelait Joadan, de Jérusalem.
3 And he did vprightly in the sight of the Lord, yet not like Dauid his father, but did according to all that Ioash his father had done.
Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, non pas toutefois comme David, son père; il se conduisit en tout comme avait Joas, son père.
4 Notwithstanding the hie places were not taken away: for as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense in the hie places.
Seulement les hauts lieux ne disparurent point; le peuple continuait d'offrir des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts lieux.
5 And when the kingdome was confirmed in his hand, he slewe his seruants which had killed the King his father.
Lorsque la royauté fut affermie dans sa main, il frappa ses serviteurs, qui avaient tué le roi, son père.
6 But the children of those that did slay him, he slewe not, according vnto that that is written in the booke of the Lawe of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children put to death for the fathers: but euery man shall be put to death for his owne sinne.
Mais il ne fit pas mourir les fils des meurtriers, selon ce qui est écrit dans le livre de la loi de Moïse, où Yahweh donne ce commandement: « Les pères ne seront pas mis à mort pour les enfants, et les enfants ne seront pas mis à mort pour les pères; mais on fera mourir chacun pour son péché. »
7 He slew also of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and tooke the citie of Sela by warre, and called the name thereof Ioktheel vnto this day.
Il battit dix mille Edomites dans la vallée du Sel, et il prit d'assaut Séla, et lui donna le nom de Jectéhel, qu'elle a conservé jusqu'à ce jour.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Iehoash the sonne of Iehoahaz, sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.
Alors Amasias envoya des messagers à Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d'Israël, pour lui dire: « Viens, et voyons-nous en face. »
9 Then Iehoash the King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon, went and trode downe the thistle.
Et Joas, roi d'Israël, envoya répondre à Amasias, roi de Juda: « L'épine qui est au Liban envoya dire au cèdre qui est au Liban: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils! Et les bêtes sauvages qui sont au Liban passèrent et foulèrent aux pieds l'épine.
10 Because thou hast smitten Edom, thine heart hath made thee proud: bragge of glory, and tary at home. why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?
Tu as, en vérité, battu les Edomites, et ton cœur s'est élevé. Glorifie-toi, et reste chez toi. Pourquoi t'engager dans le malheur, pour tomber, toi, et Juda avec toi? »
11 But Amaziah would not heare: therefore Iehoash King of Israel went vp: and he and Amaziah King of Iudah sawe one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which is in Iudah.
Mais Amasias ne l'écouta pas. Et Joas, roi d'Israël, monta, et ils se virent en face, lui et Amasias, roi de Juda, à Bethsamès, qui est à Juda.
12 And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fledde euery man to their tents.
Juda fut battu devant Israël, et chacun s'enfuit dans sa tente.
13 But Iehoash King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Iehoash the sonne of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.
Joas, roi d'Israël, prit à Bethsamès Amasias, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils d'Ochozias. Il vint à Jérusalem et fit une brèche de quatre cents coudées dans la muraille de Jérusalem, depuis la porte d'Ephraïm jusqu'à la porte de l'angle.
14 And he tooke all the gold and siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.
Il prit tout l'or et l'argent et tous les ustensiles qui se trouvaient dans la maison de Yahweh et dans les trésors de la maison du roi; il prit aussi des otages, et retourna à Samarie.
15 Concerning the rest of the acts of Iehoash which he did and his valiant deedes, and how he fought with Amaziah King of Iudah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Joas, ce qu'il a fait, et comment il combattit avec Amasias, roi de Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
16 And Iehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried at Samaria among the Kings of Israel: and Ieroboam his sonne reigned in his stead.
Joas se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Samarie, avec les rois d'Israël. Jéroboam, son fils, régna à sa place.
17 And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, liued after the death of Iehoash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel fifteene yeere.
Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut quinze ans après la mort de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d'Israël.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah?
Le reste des actes d'Amasias n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
19 But they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem, and he fled to Lachish, but they sent after him to Lachish, and slewe him there.
On ourdit contre lui une conspiration à Jérusalem, et il s'enfuit à Lachis; mais on envoya après lui des hommes à Lachis, et on l'y mit à mort.
20 And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Ierusalem with his fathers in the citie of Dauid.
On le transporta sur des chevaux, et il fut enterré à Jérusalem avec ses pères, dans la cité de David.
21 Then all the people of Iudah tooke Azariah which was sixteene yeere olde, and made him King for his father Amaziah.
Et tout le peuple de Juda prit Azarias, qui était âgé de seize ans; et on l'établit roi à la place de son père Amasias.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Iudah, after that the King slept with his fathers.
Azarias rebâtit Elath et la ramena à Juda, après que le roi fut couché avec ses pères.
23 In the fifteenth yeere of Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah, was Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash made King ouer Israel in Samaria, and reigned one and fourtie yeere.
La quinzième année d'Amasias, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, Jéroboam, fils de Joas roi d'Israël, régna à Samarie; son règne fut de quarante et un ans.
24 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord: for he departed not from all the sinnes of Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne.
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahweh; il ne se détourna d'aucun des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, qui avait fait pécher Israël.
25 He restored the coast of Israel, from the entring of Hamath, vnto the Sea of the wildernesse, according to the worde of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by his seruant Ionah the sonne of Amittai the Prophet, which was of Gath Hepher.
Il rétablit les limites d'Israël depuis l'entrée d'Emath jusqu'à la mer de l'Arabah, selon la parole de Yahweh, Dieu d'Israël, qu'il avait dite par l'organe de son serviteur Jonas, le prophète, fils d'Amathi, qui était de Geth-Chépher.
26 For the Lord saw the exceeding bitter affliction of Israel, so that there was none shutte vp, nor any left, neyther yet any that could helpe Israel.
Car Yahweh vit l'affliction très amère d'Israël, où il n'y avait plus ni homme marié, ni homme libre, ni personne pour venir au secours d'Israël.
27 Yet the Lord had not decreed to put out the name of Israel from vnder the heauen: therefore he preserued them by the hand of Ieroboam the sonne of Ioash.
Et Yahweh n'avait pas encore résolu d'effacer le nom d'Israël de dessous les cieux, mais il les délivra par la main de Jéroboam, fils de Joas.
28 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ieroboam, and all that he did, and his valiant deedes, and how he fought, and how he restored Damascus, and Hamath to Iudah in Israel, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Le reste des actes de Jéroboam, tout ce qu'il a fait, ses exploits, comment il combattit et comment il ramena à Israël Damas et Emath qui avait appartenu à Juda, cela n'est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d'Israël?
29 So Ieroboam slept with his fathers, euen with the Kings of Israel, and Zachariah his sonne reigned in his steade.
Jéroboam se coucha avec ses pères, avec les rois d'Israël; et Zacharias, son fils, régna à sa place.
