2 Kings 1
1 Then Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab:
Sau khi A-háp băng hà, dân Mô-áp phản nghịch cùng Y-sơ-ra-ên.
2 And Ahaziah fell thorow the lattesse windowe in his vpper chamber which was in Samaria: so he was sicke: then he sent messengers, to whome he saide, Goe, and enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron, if I shall recouer of this my disease.
A-cha-xia té ngang qua song lầu mình tại Sa-ma-ri và vì cớ ấy mang bịnh. Người bèn sai sứ giả đi, mà dặn rằng: hãy đi cầu vấn Ba-anh-Xê-bụt, thần của Éc-rôn, đặng cho biết ta sẽ lành bịnh này chăng?
3 Then the Angel of the Lord said to Eliiah the Tishbite, Arise, and goe vp to meete the messengers of the King of Samaria, and say vnto them, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that ye goe to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?
Nhưng thiên sứ của Ðức Giê-hô-va phán với Ê-li, người Thi-sê-be, rằng: Hãy chổi dậy, đi lên đón các sứ giả của vua Sa-ma-ri, và nói với họ rằng: Trong Y-sơ-ra-ên há không có Ðức Chúa Trời sao, nên ngươi đi cầu vấn Ba-anh-Xê-bụt, thần của Éc-rôn?
4 Wherefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come downe from the bed on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death. So Eliiah departed.
Bởi cớ đó, Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Ngươi sẽ không xuống khỏi giường mà ngươi đã lên, nhưng hẳn sẽ chết. Ðoạn, Ê-li đi.
5 And the messengers returned vnto him, to whome he said, Why are ye nowe returned?
Các sứ giả trở về cùng A-cha-xia, người hỏi rằng: Vì sao các ngươi trở về?
6 And they answered him, There came a man and met vs, and saide vnto vs, Goe, and returne vnto the King which sent you, and say vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Is it not because there is no God in Israel, that thou sendest to enquire of Baal-zebub the God of Ekron? Therefore thou shalt not come downe from the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die ye death.
Chúng thưa rằng: Có một người đi lên đón chúng tôi, và nói với chúng tôi rằng: Hãy trở về cùng vua đã sai các ngươi, và nói với người rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va đã phán như vầy: Trong Y-sơ-ra-ên há không có Ðức Chúa Trời sao, nên ngươi sai đi cầu vấn Ba-anh-Xê-bụt, thần của Éc-rôn? Bởi cớ đó, ngươi sẽ không xuống khỏi giường mà ngươi đã lên, nhưng hẳn sẽ chết.
7 And he saide vnto them, What maner of man was he which came and met you, and tolde you these wordes?
Vua bèn hỏi họ rằng: Người đi lên đón các ngươi và nói những lời ấy ra sao?
8 And they said vnto him, He was an hearie man, and girded with a girdle of lether about his loynes. Then sayde he, It is Eliiah the Tishbite.
Chúng thưa: Người đó mặc áo lông, và thắt lưng bằng dây da. Vua nói rằng: Ấy là Ê-li, người Thi-sê-be.
9 Therefore the King sent vnto him a captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie men, who went vp vnto him: for beholde, he sate on the toppe of a mountaine, and he saide vnto him, O man of God, the King hath commanded that thou come downe.
Vua bèn sai một quan cai năm mươi lính đi với năm mươi lính mình lên cùng Ê-li Vả, Ê-li đương ngồi trên chót gò. Quan cai nói với người rằng: Hỡi người của Ðức Chúa Trời, vua đòi ông xuống.
10 But Eliiah answered, and saide to the captaine ouer the fiftie, If that I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Nhưng Ê-li đáp cùng quan cai năm mươi lính rằng: Nếu ta là người của Ðức Chúa Trời, nguyện lửa từ trên trời giáng xuống thiêu đốt ngươi, luôn với năm mươi lính của ngươi đi! Lửa từ trên trời liền giáng xuống thiêu đốt quan cai và năm mươi lính của người.
11 Againe also he sent vnto him another captaine ouer fiftie, with his fiftie. Who spake, and saide vnto him, O man of God, thus the King commandeth, Come downe quickely.
A-cha-xia lại sai đến Ê-li một quan cai năm mươi lính khác đi với năm mươi lính người. Qua này nói với Ê-li rằng:" Hỡi người của Ðức Chúa Trời, vua phán như vầy: Hãy mau mau xuống.
12 But Eliiah answered, and saide vnto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come downe from the heauen, and deuoure thee and thy fiftie. So fire came downe from the heauen, and deuoured him and his fiftie.
Nhưng Ê-li đáp với người rằng: Nếu ta là người của Ðức Chúa Trời, nguyện lửa từ trên trời giáng xuống thiêu đốt ngươi với năm mươi lính của ngươi. Lửa của Ðức Chúa Trời liền từ trời giáng xuống thiêu đốt quan cai với năm mươi lính của người.
13 Yet againe he sent the third captaine ouer fiftie with his fiftie. And the thirde captaine ouer fiftie went vp, and came, and fell on his knees before Eliiah, and besought him, and saide vnto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life and the life of these thy fiftie seruants be precious in thy sight.
A-cha-xia lại sai một quan cai năm mươi lính đi với năm mươi lính mình. Quan cai này lên đến, quì gối xuống trước mặt Ê-li, cầu xin người rằng: Hỡi người của Ðức Chúa Trời, xin ông xem quí trọng mạng sống của tôi và mạng sống của năm mươi người này, là kẻ tôi tớ ông.
14 Beholde, there came fire downe from the heauen and deuoured the two former captaines ouer fiftie with their fifties: therefore let my life nowe be precious in thy sight.
Kìa, lửa đã giáng từ trời, thiêu nuốt hai quan cai năm mươi lính trước, và năm mươi lính của họ; nhưng bây giờ, xin xem mạng sống tôi là quí trọng trước mặt ông.
15 And the Angel of the Lord said vnto Eliiah, Goe downe with him, be not afraide of his presence. So he arose, and went downe with him vnto the King.
Thiên sứ của Ðức Giê-hô-va nói cùng Ê-li rằng: Hãy đi xuống với người, chớ sợ chi. Vậy, Ê-li chổi dậy đi xuống với quan cai đến cùng vua.
16 And he saide vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Because thou hast sent messengers to enquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, (was it not because there was no God in Israel to inquire of his worde?) therefore thou shalt not come downe off the bed, on which thou art gone vp, but shalt die the death.
Người nói với vua rằng: Ðức Giê-hô-va phán như vầy: Bởi vì ngươi có sai sứ giả đến cầu vấn Ba-anh-Xê-bụt, thần của Éc-rôn, (há trong Y-sơ-ra-ên chẳng có Ðức Chúa Trời để cầu vấn sao?) nên ngươi sẽ không xuống khỏi giường ngươi đã trèo lên, vì ngươi chắc sẽ quả chết.
17 So he dyed according to the worde of the Lord which Eliiah had spoken. And Iehoram began to reigne in his steade, in the seconde yeere of Iehoram the sonne of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, because he had no sonne.
Vậy, A-cha-xia thác, theo như lời Ðức Giê-hô-va đã cậy Ê-li mà phán ra. Giô-ram kế vị người, nhằm năm thứ nhì của Giô-ram, con trai Giô-sa-phát, vua Giu-đa; bởi vì A-cha-xia không có con trai.
18 Concerning the rest of the actes of Ahaziah, that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
Các công việc khác của A-cha-xia đã làm đều chép trong sách sử ký về các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên. Ê-li được cất lên trời
