2 Chronicles 11
1 And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered of the house of Iudah and Beniamin nine score thousande chosen men of warre to fight against Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam.
Då Rehabeam kom till Jerusalem, församlade han Juda hus och BenJamin, hundradetusend, och åttatiotusend unga män, som stridsamme voro, till att strida emot Israel, att de måtte komma åter riket under Rehabeam.
2 But the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Men Herrans ord kom till Semaja, den Guds mannen, och sade:
3 Speake vnto Rehoboam, the sonne of Salomon King of Iudah, and to all Israel that are in Iudah, and Beniamin, saying,
Tala till Rehabeam, Salomos son, Juda Konung, och till hela Israel, som under Juda och BenJamin är, och säg:
4 Thus sayth the Lord, Ye shall not goe vp, nor fight against your brethren: returne euery man to his house: for this thing is done of me. They obeyed therfore the word of the Lord, and returned from going against Ieroboam.
Detta säger Herren: I skolen icke draga upp, ej heller strida emot edra bröder; hvar och en gånge åter hem, förty det är skedt af mig. De lydde Herrans ord, och vände igen att draga emot Jerobeam.
5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Ierusalem, and buylt strong cities in Iudah.
Men Rehabeam bodde i Jerusalem, och byggde de städer fasta i Juda;
6 Hee buylt also Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
Nämliga BethLehem, Etham, Thekoa,
7 And Beth-zur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
Bethzur, Socho, Adullam,
8 And Gath, and Maresha, and Ziph,
Gath, Maresa, Siph,
9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
Adoraim, Lachis, Aseka,
10 And Zorah, and Aialon, and Hebron, which were in Iudah and Beniamin, strong cities.
Zorga, Ajalon och Hebron; hvilke voro de fastaste städer i Juda och BenJamin.
11 And he repaired the strong holdes and put captaines in them, and store of vitaile, and oyle and wine.
Och han gjorde dem fasta, och satte der öfverstar in, och besörjde dem med spisning, oljo och vin.
12 And in all cities he put shieldes and speares, and made them exceeding strong: so Iudah and Beniamin were his.
Och i alla städer skaffade han sköldar och spjut, och gjorde dem ganska fasta. Och Juda och BenJamin voro under honom.
13 And the Priests and the Leuites that were in all Israel, resorted vnto him out of all their coastes.
Och gåfvo sig till honom Presterna och Leviterna utaf hela Israel, och alla deras gränsor.
14 For the Leuites left their suburbes and their possession, and came to Iudah and to Ierusalem: for Ieroboam and his sonnes had cast them out from ministring in the Priestes office vnto the Lord.
Och de öfvergåfvo alla deras förstäder och håfvor, och kommo till Juda i Jerusalem; förty Jerobeam och hans söner fördrefvo dem, att de icke kunde bruka Herranom Presterskapet.
15 And he ordeyned him Priests for the hie places, and for the deuils and for the calues which he had made.
Men han stiktade sig Prester till höjderna, och till djeflar, och kalfvar, som han göra lät.
16 And after the Leuites there came to Ierusalem of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their heartes to seeke the Lord God of Israel, to offer vnto the Lord God of their fathers.
Och efter dem kommo, utaf all Israels slägter, de som sitt hjerta gåfvo till att fråga efter Herran Israels Gud, till Jerusalem, att de måtte offra Herranom sina fäders Gud;
17 So they strengthened the kingdome of Iudah, and made Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon mightie, three yeere long: for three yeere they walked in in the way of Dauid and Salomon.
Och förstärkte alltså Juda rike, och styrkte Rehabeam, Salomos son, i tre år; ty de vandrade på Davids och Salomos väg i tre år.
18 And Rehoboam tooke him Mahalath ye daughter of Ierimoth the sonne of Dauid to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the sonne of Ishai,
Och Rehabeam tog Mahalath, Jerimoths dotter, Davids sons, till hustru, och Abihail, Eliabs dotter, Isai sons.
19 Which bare him sonnes Ieush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
Hon födde honom dessa söner: Jehus, Semaria och Saham.
20 And after her he tooke Maakah ye daughter of Absalom which bare him Abiiah, and Atthai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Derefter tog han Maacha, Absaloms dotter. Hon födde honom Abia, Attai, Sisa och Selomith.
21 And Rehoboam loued Maakah ye daughter of Absalom aboue all his wiues and his concubines: for he tooke eighteene wiues, and three score concubines, and begate eyght and twentie sonnes, and three score daughters.
Men Rehabeam hade Maacha, Absaloms dotter, kärare, än alla sina hustrur och frillor; ty han hade aderton hustrur, och sextio frillor, och födde åtta och tjugu söner, och sextio döttrar.
22 And Rehoboam made Abiiah the sonne of Maakah the chiefe ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him King.
Och Rehabeam satte Abia, Maachas son, till ett hufvud och Första öfver hans bröder; ty han hade i sinnet göra honom till Konung.
23 And he taught him: and dispersed all his sonnes throughout all the countreis of Iudah and Beniamin vnto euery strong citie: and hee gaue them aboundance of vitaile, and desired many wiues.
Och han växte till, och yppade sig för alla hans söner i Juda och BenJamins land, i alla fasta städer. Och han gaf dem spisning en stor hop; och han tog många hustrur.
