2 Chronicles 11
1 And when Rehoboam was come to Ierusalem, he gathered of the house of Iudah and Beniamin nine score thousande chosen men of warre to fight against Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam.
Roboam, étant arrivé à Jérusalem, assembla la maison de Juda et de Benjamin, cent quatre-vingt mille hommes de guerre choisis, pour combattre contre Israël, pour ramener le royaume à Roboam.
2 But the worde of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Mais la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée à Shémaeja, homme de Dieu, en ces termes:
3 Speake vnto Rehoboam, the sonne of Salomon King of Iudah, and to all Israel that are in Iudah, and Beniamin, saying,
Parle à Roboam, fils de Salomon, roi de Juda, et à tout Israël en Juda et en Benjamin, et dis-leur:
4 Thus sayth the Lord, Ye shall not goe vp, nor fight against your brethren: returne euery man to his house: for this thing is done of me. They obeyed therfore the word of the Lord, and returned from going against Ieroboam.
Ainsi dit l'Éternel: Vous ne monterez point, et vous ne combattrez point contre vos frères; retournez- vous-en, chacun dans sa maison; car ceci vient de moi. Et ils obéirent aux paroles de l'Éternel, et s'en retournèrent, renonçant à marcher contre Jéroboam.
5 And Rehoboam dwelt in Ierusalem, and buylt strong cities in Iudah.
Roboam demeura donc à Jérusalem, et il bâtit des villes fortes en Juda.
6 Hee buylt also Beth-lehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
Il bâtit Bethléhem, Étam, Thékoa,
7 And Beth-zur, and Shoco, and Adullam,
Beth-Tsur, Soco, Adullam,
8 And Gath, and Maresha, and Ziph,
Gath, Marésha, Ziph,
9 And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
Adoraïm, Lakis, Azéka,
10 And Zorah, and Aialon, and Hebron, which were in Iudah and Beniamin, strong cities.
Tsoréa, Ajalon et Hébron, qui étaient en Juda et en Benjamin, et en fit des villes fortes.
11 And he repaired the strong holdes and put captaines in them, and store of vitaile, and oyle and wine.
Il les fortifia, et y mit des gouverneurs et des provisions de vivres, d'huile et de vin,
12 And in all cities he put shieldes and speares, and made them exceeding strong: so Iudah and Beniamin were his.
Et, dans chacune de ces villes, des boucliers et des lances, et il les rendit très fortes. Ainsi Juda et Benjamin furent à lui.
13 And the Priests and the Leuites that were in all Israel, resorted vnto him out of all their coastes.
Les sacrificateurs et les Lévites, qui étaient dans tout Israël, vinrent de toutes parts se ranger auprès de lui.
14 For the Leuites left their suburbes and their possession, and came to Iudah and to Ierusalem: for Ieroboam and his sonnes had cast them out from ministring in the Priestes office vnto the Lord.
Car les Lévites abandonnèrent leurs banlieues et leurs propriétés et vinrent en Juda et à Jérusalem, parce que Jéroboam, avec ses fils, les avaient rejetés des fonctions de sacrificateurs à l'Éternel,
15 And he ordeyned him Priests for the hie places, and for the deuils and for the calues which he had made.
Et s'était établi des sacrificateurs pour les hauts lieux et les démons, et pour les veaux qu'il avait faits.
16 And after the Leuites there came to Ierusalem of all the tribes of Israel, such as set their heartes to seeke the Lord God of Israel, to offer vnto the Lord God of their fathers.
Et à leur suite, de toutes les tribus d'Israël, ceux qui avaient à cœur de chercher l'Éternel, le Dieu d'Israël, vinrent à Jérusalem pour sacrifier à l'Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères.
17 So they strengthened the kingdome of Iudah, and made Rehoboam the sonne of Salomon mightie, three yeere long: for three yeere they walked in in the way of Dauid and Salomon.
Et ils fortifièrent le royaume de Juda et affermirent Roboam, fils de Salomon, pendant trois ans; car on suivit les voies de David et de Salomon pendant trois ans.
18 And Rehoboam tooke him Mahalath ye daughter of Ierimoth the sonne of Dauid to wife, and Abihail the daughter of Eliab the sonne of Ishai,
Or Roboam prit pour femme Mahalath, fille de Jérimoth, fils de David, et d'Abichaïl, fille d'Éliab, fils d'Isaï.
19 Which bare him sonnes Ieush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
Elle lui enfanta des fils: Jéush, Shémaria et Zaham.
20 And after her he tooke Maakah ye daughter of Absalom which bare him Abiiah, and Atthai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
Après elle, il prit Maaca, fille d'Absalom, qui lui enfanta Abija, Atthaï, Ziza et Shélomith.
21 And Rehoboam loued Maakah ye daughter of Absalom aboue all his wiues and his concubines: for he tooke eighteene wiues, and three score concubines, and begate eyght and twentie sonnes, and three score daughters.
Et Roboam aima Maaca, fille d'Absalom, plus que toutes ses femmes et ses concubines. Car il prit dix-huit femmes et soixante concubines, et il engendra vingt-huit fils et soixante filles.
22 And Rehoboam made Abiiah the sonne of Maakah the chiefe ruler among his brethren: for he thought to make him King.
Roboam établit pour chef Abija, fils de Maaca, comme prince entre ses frères; car il voulait le faire roi;
23 And he taught him: and dispersed all his sonnes throughout all the countreis of Iudah and Beniamin vnto euery strong citie: and hee gaue them aboundance of vitaile, and desired many wiues.
Et il agit prudemment et dispersa tous ses fils dans toutes les contrées de Juda et de Benjamin, dans toutes les villes fortes; il leur donna abondamment de quoi vivre, et demanda pour eux une multitude de femmes.
