1 Thessalonians 5
1 Bvt of the times and seasons, brethren, yee haue no neede that I write vnto you.
Porém, irmãos, ácerca dos tempos e das estações, não necessitaes de que se vos escreva;
2 For ye your selues knowe perfectly, that the day of the Lord shall come, euen as a thiefe in the night.
Porque vós mesmos sabeis muito bem que o dia do Senhor virá como o ladrão de noite;
3 For when they shall say, Peace, and safetie, then shall come vpon them sudden destruction, as the trauaile vpon a woman with childe, and they shall not escape,
Pois que, quando disserem: Ha paz e segurança; então lhes sobrevirá repentina destruição, como as dôres de parto áquella que está gravida; e de modo algum escaparão.
4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkenes, that that day shall come on you, as it were a thiefe.
Mas vós, irmãos, já não estaes em trevas, para que aquelle dia vos surprehenda como um ladrão.
5 Yee are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, neither of darkenesse.
Todos vós sois filhos da luz e filhos do dia: nós não somos da noite nem das trevas.
6 Therefore let vs not sleepe as do other, but let vs watch and be sober.
Não durmamos pois, como os demais, mas vigiemos, e sejamos sobrios.
7 For they that sleepe, sleepe in the night, and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night.
Porque os que dormem dormem de noite, e os que se embebedam embebedam-se de noite.
8 But let vs which are of the day, be sober, putting on the brest plate of faith and loue, and of the hope of saluation for an helmet.
Mas nós, que somos do dia, sejamos sobrios, vestindo-nos da couraça da fé e da caridade, e tendo por capacete a esperança da salvação.
9 For God hath not appointed vs vnto wrath, but to obtaine saluation by the meanes of our Lord Iesus Christ,
Porque Deus não nos tem designado para a ira, mas para a acquisição da salvação, por nosso Senhor Jesus Christo.
10 Which died for vs, that whether we wake or sleepe, we should liue together with him.
O qual morreu por nós, para que, quer vigiemos, quer durmamos, vivamos juntamente com elle.
11 Wherefore exhort one another, and edifie one another, euen as ye doe.
Pelo que exhortae-vos uns aos outros, e edificae-vos uns aos outros, como tambem o fazeis.
12 Nowe we beseeche you, brethren, that ye acknowledge them, which labour among you, and are ouer you in the Lord, and admonish you,
E rogamo-vos, irmãos, que reconheçaes os que trabalham entre vós e que presidem sobre vós no Senhor, e vos admoestam:
13 That yee haue them in singular loue for their workes sake. Bee at peace among your selues.
E tende-os em grande estima e amor, por causa da sua obra. Tende paz entre vós.
14 We desire you, brethren, admonish them that are out of order: comfort ye feeble minded: beare with the weake: be pacient toward all men.
Rogamo-vos tambem, irmãos, que admoesteis os desordeiros, consoleis os de pouco animo, sustenteis os fracos, e sejaes pacientes para com todos.
15 See that none recompense euil for euil vnto any man: but euer follow that which is good, both toward your selues, and toward all men.
Vêde que ninguem dê a outrem mal por mal, mas segui sempre o bem, assim uns para com os outros, como para com todos.
16 Reioyce euermore.
Regozijae-vos sempre.
17 Pray continually.
Orae sem cessar.
18 In all thinges giue thankes: for this is the will of God in Christ Iesus toward you.
Em tudo dae graças; porque esta é a vontade de Deus em Christo Jesus para comvosco.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
Não apagueis o Espirito.
20 Despise not prophecying.
Não desprezeis as prophecias.
21 Try all things, and keepe that which is good.
Examinae todas as coisas; retende o bem.
22 Absteine from all appearance of euill.
Abstende-vos de toda a apparencia do mal.
23 Nowe the very God of peace sanctifie you throughout: and I pray God that your whole spirite and soule and body, may be kept blamelesse vnto the comming of our Lord Iesus Christ.
E o mesmo Deus de paz vos sanctifique em tudo; e todo o vosso sincero espirito, e alma, e corpo, sejam conservados irreprehensiveis para a vinda de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo.
24 Faithfull is hee which calleth you, which will also doe it.
Fiel é o que vos chama, o qual tambem o fará.
25 Brethren, pray for vs.
Irmãos, orae por nós.
26 Greete all the brethren with an holy kisse.
Saudae a todos os irmãos em osculo sancto.
27 I charge you in the Lord, that this Epistle be read vnto all the brethren the Saintes.
Pelo Senhor vos conjuro que esta epistola se leia a todos os sanctos irmãos.
28 The grace of our Lord Iesus Christ be with you, Amen. ‘The first Epistle vnto the Thessalonians written from Athens.’
A graça de nosso Senhor Jesus Christo seja comvosco. Amen.
