1 Samuel 25
1 Then Samuel dyed, and all Israel assembled, and mourned for him, and buried him in his owne house at Ramah. And Dauid arose and went downe to the wildernes of Paran.
ശമുവേൽ മരിച്ചു. ഇസ്രായേലെല്ലാം ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി അദ്ദേഹത്തിനുവേണ്ടി വിലപിച്ചു; രാമായിലുള്ള സ്വവസതിയിൽ അവർ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ സംസ്കരിച്ചു. അതിനുശേഷം ദാവീദ് പുറപ്പെട്ട് പാരാൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പോയി താമസിച്ചു.
2 Now in Maon was a man, who had his possessio in Carmel, and the man was exceeding mightie and had three thousand sheepe, and a thousand goates: and he was shering his sheepe in Carmel.
കർമേലിൽ വസ്തുവകകളുള്ള മാവോന്യനായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം മഹാധനികനായിരുന്നു. കർമേലിൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് ആയിരം കോലാടുകളും മൂവായിരം ചെമ്മരിയാടുകളും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു, ആടുകളുടെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന സമയമായിരുന്നു അത്.
3 The name also of the man was Nabal, and the name of his wife Abigail, and she was a woman of singular wisdome, and beautifull, but the man was churlish, and euil conditioned, and was of the familie of Caleb.
അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പേര് നാബാൽ എന്നും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുടെ പേര് അബീഗയിൽ എന്നും ആയിരുന്നു. അബീഗയിൽ വിവേകവും സൗന്ദര്യവുമുള്ള ഒരു സ്ത്രീ ആയിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അവളുടെ ഭർത്താവ് ദയയില്ലാത്തവനും ദുഷ്ടനും കാലേബിന്റെ വംശജനും ആയിരുന്നു.
4 And Dauid heard in the wildernesse, that Nabal did shere his sheepe.
ദാവീദ് മരുഭൂമിയിലായിരുന്നപ്പോൾ നാബാൽ കർമേലിൽ ആടുകളുടെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നുണ്ട് എന്നു കേട്ടു.
5 Therefore Dauid sent tenne yong men, and Dauid said vnto the yong men, Go vp to Carmel, and go to Nabal, and aske him in my name how he doeth.
അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ കൂട്ടത്തിൽനിന്ന് പത്തു ചെറുപ്പക്കാരെ വിളിച്ച് അവിടേക്ക് അയച്ചു. ദാവീദ് അവരോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “കർമേലിൽ നാബാലിന്റെ അടുത്തേക്കു ചെല്ലുക. അദ്ദേഹത്തെ എന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ വന്ദനംചെയ്യുക.
6 And thus shall ye say for salutation, Both thou, and thine house, and all that thou hast, be in peace, wealth and prosperitie.
എന്നിട്ട് അദ്ദേഹത്തോട് ഇങ്ങനെ പറയണം: ‘താങ്കൾ ദീർഘായുസ്സോടെയിരിക്കട്ടെ! താങ്കൾക്കും താങ്കളുടെ ഭവനത്തിനുംമാത്രമല്ല, താങ്കൾക്കുള്ള എല്ലാവർക്കും ആയുരാരോഗ്യങ്ങൾ ലഭിക്കട്ടെ!
7 Behold, I haue heard, that thou hast sherers: now thy shepherds were with vs, and we did the no hurt, neyther did they misse any thing all the while they were in Carmel.
“‘ഇപ്പോൾ താങ്കൾക്ക് ആടുകളുടെ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്ന സമയമാണെന്നു ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. താങ്കളുടെ ഇടയന്മാർ ഞങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ ആയിരുന്നപ്പോൾ ഞങ്ങൾ അവർക്കൊരുദ്രോഹവും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല. അവർ കർമേലിൽ ആയിരുന്ന കാലത്ത് അവർക്ക് ഒന്നും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടിട്ടുമില്ല.
8 Aske thy seruants and they wil shew thee. Wherefore let these yong men finde fauour in thine eyes: (for we come in a good season) giue, I pray thee, whatsoeuer commeth to thine hand vnto thy seruants, and to thy sonne Dauid.
താങ്കളുടെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു ചോദിച്ചാലും. അവർ അതു പറയും. അതിനാൽ ഞാനയയ്ക്കുന്ന ഈ ചെറുപ്പക്കാരോടു ദയ തോന്നേണം. ഒരു പ്രത്യേകദിവസത്തിലാണല്ലോ ഞങ്ങൾ വരുന്നതും! ദയവായി താങ്കളുടെ ഈ ഭൃത്യന്മാർക്കും താങ്കളുടെ മകനായ ദാവീദിനുംവേണ്ടി എന്തുകൊടുക്കാൻ കഴിയുമോ അതു കൊടുക്കണം.’”
9 And when Dauids yong men came, they tolde Nabal all those wordes in the name of Dauid, and helde their peace.
ദാവീദിന്റെ ആളുകൾ വന്ന് ഈ സന്ദേശം ദാവീദിന്റെ നാമത്തിൽ നാബാലിനെ അറിയിച്ചു. എന്നിട്ട് അവർ കാത്തുനിന്നു.
10 Then Nabal answered Dauids seruantes, and sayd, Who is Dauid? and who is the sonne of Ishai? there be many seruantes nowe a dayes, that breake away euery man from his master.
എന്നാൽ നാബാൽ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരോടു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞത് ഇപ്രകാരമായിരുന്നു: “ദാവീദ് ആര്? യിശ്ശായിയുടെ മകനാര്? യജമാനന്മാരെ വിട്ടുപൊയ്ക്കളയുന്ന ദാസന്മാർ ഇക്കാലത്തു ധാരാളമാണ്.
11 Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I haue killed for my sherers, and giue it vnto men, whom I know not whence they be?
എവിടെനിന്നു വന്നവർ എന്നുപോലും അറിയാത്ത ആളുകൾക്കുവേണ്ടി ഞാനെന്റെ അപ്പവും വെള്ളവും, എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവർക്കുവേണ്ടി ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഇറച്ചിയും എടുത്തുകൊടുക്കുന്നതെന്തിന്?”
12 So Dauids seruants turned their way, and went againe, and came, and tolde him all those things.
ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ മടങ്ങിവന്ന് ഈ വാക്കുകളെല്ലാം ദാവീദിനെ അറിയിച്ചു.
13 And Dauid said vnto his men, Girde euery man his sword about him. And they girded euery man his sworde: Dauid also girded his sworde. And about foure hundreth men went vp after Dauid, and two hundreth abode by the cariage.
അപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് തന്റെ ആളുകളോട് ആജ്ഞാപിച്ചു: “നിങ്ങളുടെ വാൾ ധരിച്ചുകൊള്ളുക.” അതുകേട്ട് എല്ലാവരും താന്താങ്ങളുടെ വാൾ അരയ്ക്കുകെട്ടി. ഏകദേശം നാനൂറുപേർ ദാവീദിനോടൊപ്പം പോയി. ശേഷിച്ച ഇരുനൂറുപേർ സാധനസാമഗ്രികൾ കാത്തുകൊണ്ട് അവിടെത്തന്നെ കഴിഞ്ഞു.
14 Nowe one of the seruantes tolde Abigail Nabals wife, saying, Beholde, Dauid sent messengers out of the wildernesse to salute our master, and he rayled on them.
സേവകന്മാരിലൊരാൾ നാബാലിന്റെ ഭാര്യ അബീഗയിലിനെ അറിയിച്ചു: “യജമാനനെ അഭിവാദനം ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി ദാവീദ് മരുഭൂമിയിൽനിന്നു ദൂതന്മാരെ അയച്ചിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ അദ്ദേഹം അവരെ ശകാരിക്കുകയാണു ചെയ്തത്.
15 Notwithstanding the men were very good vnto vs, and we had no displeasure, neither missed we any thing as long as we were conuersant with them, when we were in the fieldes.
ആ മനുഷ്യർ ഞങ്ങൾക്ക് ഏറ്റവും നല്ലവരായിരുന്നു. അവർ ഞങ്ങളോടു ദ്രോഹം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ല. ഞങ്ങൾ വെളിമ്പ്രദേശത്ത് അവരുടെ അടുത്ത് ആയിരുന്ന നാളുകളിൽ ഒരിക്കലും നമുക്കൊന്നും നഷ്ടമായിട്ടില്ല.
16 They were as a wall vnto vs both by night and by day, all the while we were with them keeping sheepe.
ഞങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ അടുത്ത് ആടുകളെ മേയിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന കാലത്തെല്ലാം രാപകൽ അവർ ഞങ്ങൾക്കുചുറ്റും ഒരു കോട്ടയായിരുന്നു.
17 Nowe therefore take heede, and see what thou shalt doe: for euill will surely come vpon our master, and vpon all his familie: for he is so wicked that a man can not speake to him.
ആകയാൽ എന്തുചെയ്യാൻ കഴിയുമെന്നു ചിന്തിച്ച് പ്രവർത്തിച്ചാലും! എന്തെന്നാൽ നമ്മുടെ യജമാനനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സകലഭവനത്തിനും നാശം അടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്ന കാര്യം ഉറപ്പാണ്. യജമാനനോട് ആർക്കും ഒന്നും മിണ്ടിക്കൂടാ. അത്രയ്ക്കു വികടസ്വഭാവിയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം.”
18 Then Abigail made haste, and tooke two hundreth cakes, and two bottels of wine, and fiue sheepe ready dressed, and fiue measures of parched corne, and an hundreth frailes of raisins, and two hundreth of figs, and laded them on asses.
അബീഗയിൽ സമയം ഒട്ടും നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ല. അവൾ തിടുക്കത്തിൽ ഇരുനൂറ് അപ്പവും രണ്ടു തുരുത്തി വീഞ്ഞും പാകംചെയ്ത അഞ്ച് ആടും അഞ്ചു സേയാ മലരും നൂറ് ഉണക്കമുന്തിരിയടയും ഇരുനൂറ് അത്തിപ്പഴക്കട്ടയും എടുത്ത് കഴുതകളുടെ പുറത്തു കയറ്റി.
19 Then she said vnto her seruants, Go ye before me: beholde, I will come after you: yet she tolde not her husband Nabal.
“നിങ്ങൾ എനിക്കുമുമ്പേ പോകുക. ഞാൻ പിന്നാലെ വരുന്നുണ്ട്,” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവൾ ദാസന്മാരെ അയച്ചു. എന്നാൽ അവൾ തന്റെ ഭർത്താവായ നാബാലിനോട് ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞതുമില്ല.
20 And as shee rode on her asse, shee came downe by a secret place of the mountaine, and beholde, Dauid and his men came downe against her, and she met them.
അവൾ കഴുതപ്പുറത്ത് ഒരു മലയിടുക്കിലൂടെ ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുമ്പോൾ ദാവീദും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ആളുകളും അവളുടെനേരേ വരികയായിരുന്നു; അവൾ അവരെക്കണ്ടു.
21 And Dauid said, In deede I haue kept all in vaine that this fellow had in the wildernesse, so that nothing was missed of all that pertained vnto him: for he hath requited me euill for good.
എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ്: “ഈ മനുഷ്യന്റെ സമ്പത്തിൽ യാതൊന്നും നഷ്ടമാകാതിരിക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം ഞാൻ അവയെ കാത്തുരക്ഷിച്ചതെല്ലാം ഇന്നു വ്യർഥമായിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അവനെനിക്ക്, നന്മയ്ക്കുപകരം തിന്മ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
22 So and more also doe God vnto the enemies of Dauid: for surely I will not leaue of all that he hath, by the dawning of the day, any that pisseth against the wall.
അവന്റെ സന്തതിയിൽ ഒരാണിനെയെങ്കിലും ഞാൻ പുലരുംവരെ ജീവനോടെ ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചാൽ ദൈവം ദാവീദിനോട് തക്കവണ്ണവും അധികവും ചെയ്യട്ടെ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു.
23 And when Abigail sawe Dauid, she hasted and lighted off her asse, and fell before Dauid on her face, and bowed her selfe to the ground,
അബീഗയിൽ ദാവീദിനെക്കണ്ടപ്പോൾ വേഗം കഴുതപ്പുറത്തുനിന്നിറങ്ങി അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെമുമ്പിൽ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചു.
24 And fel at his feete, and sayd, Oh, my lord, I haue committed the iniquitie, and I pray thee, let thine handmayde speake to thee, and heare thou the wordes of thine handmayde.
അവൾ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കാൽക്കൽവീണു പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്റെ പ്രഭോ, കുറ്റം എന്റെമേൽമാത്രമായിരിക്കട്ടെ! അങ്ങയുടെ ഈ ദാസിയെ അങ്ങയോടു സംസാരിക്കാൻ അനുവദിച്ചാലും! ഈ ദാസിക്ക് പറയാനുള്ളത് ഒന്നു കേൾക്കണേ!
25 Let not my lorde, I pray thee, regard this wicked man Nabal: for as his name is, so is he: Nabal is his name, and follie is with him: but I thine handmayde sawe not the yong men of my lord whom thou sentest.
എന്റെ പ്രഭോ! അങ്ങ് ആ ദുഷ്ടമനുഷ്യനായ നാബാലിനെ ഗണ്യമാക്കരുതേ! അവൻ തന്റെ പേരുപോലെതന്നെയാണ്. നാബാലെന്നാണല്ലോ അവന്റെ പേര്. ഭോഷത്തം അവന്റെ കൂടപ്പിറപ്പാണ്. അടിയനോ, യജമാനൻ അയച്ച ആളുകളെ കണ്ടിരുന്നില്ല.
26 Now therefore my lord, as the Lord liueth, and as thy soule liueth (the Lord, I say, that hath withholden thee from comming to shedde blood, and that thine hand should not saue thee) so now thine enemies shall be as Nabal, and they that intend to doe my lord euill.
ഇന്ന് യഹോവ രക്തപാതകത്തിൽനിന്നും സ്വന്തം കൈകൾകൊണ്ടുള്ള പകപോക്കലിൽനിന്നും ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവമായ യഹോവയാണെ, അങ്ങാണെ, എന്റെ യജമാനനെ തടഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു. അങ്ങയുടെ ശത്രുക്കളും എന്റെ യജമാനനു ദ്രോഹം നിരൂപിക്കുന്ന ഏവരും ആ നാബാലിനെപ്പോലെ ആയിത്തീരട്ടെ!
27 And now, this blessing which thine handmaid hath brought vnto my lorde, let it be giuen vnto the yong men, that follow my lord.
അങ്ങയുടെ ഈ ദാസി എന്റെ യജമാനനുവേണ്ടി കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കാഴ്ചകൾ അങ്ങയുടെ അനുയായികൾക്കു നൽകിയാലും.
28 I pray thee, forgiue the trespasse of thine handmaide: for the Lord will make my lorde a sure house, because my lord fighteth the battels of the Lord, and none euill hath bene found in thee in all thy life.
“ദയതോന്നി അങ്ങയുടെ ഈ ദാസിയുടെ കുറ്റം ക്ഷമിക്കണമേ. യഹോവ എന്റെ യജമാനനുവേണ്ടി ശാശ്വതമായൊരു ഭവനം പണിയും. യഹോവയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടിയുള്ള യുദ്ധങ്ങളാണല്ലോ അങ്ങ് നടത്തുന്നത്. അങ്ങു ജീവനോടിരിക്കുന്ന കാലത്തൊരിക്കലും ഒരു കുറ്റകൃത്യം അങ്ങയിൽ കാണാൻ ഇടവരാതിരിക്കട്ടെ.
29 Yet a man hath risen vp to persecute thee, and to seeke thy soule, but the soule of my lorde shall be bounde in the bundel of life with the Lord thy God: and the soule of thine enemies shall God cast out, as out of the middle of a sling.
അങ്ങയുടെ ജീവൻ അപഹരിക്കാനായി ഏതെങ്കിലും ഒരുവൻ അങ്ങയെ പിൻതുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നാലും, എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ജീവൻ അങ്ങയുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ പക്കൽ ജീവഭാണ്ഡത്തിൽ ഭദ്രമായി കെട്ടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കും. എന്നാൽ അങ്ങയുടെ ശത്രുക്കളുടെ ജീവനോ, കവിണത്തടത്തിലെ കല്ലുപോലെ യഹോവ ചുഴറ്റിയെറിഞ്ഞുകളയും.
30 And when the Lord shall haue done to my lord al the good that he hath promised thee, and shall haue made thee ruler ouer Israel,
യഹോവ എന്റെ യജമാനനായ അങ്ങേക്കുവേണ്ടി വാഗ്ദാനംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്ന നന്മകളെല്ലാം ചെയ്തുതന്ന് അങ്ങയെ ഇസ്രായേലിനു നായകനായി അവരോധിക്കുമ്പോൾ,
31 Then shall it be no griefe vnto thee, nor offence of minde vnto my lord, that he hath not shed blood causelesse, nor that my lorde hath not preserued him selfe: and when the Lord shall haue dealt well with my lorde, remember thine handmaide.
അകാരണമായി രക്തം ചിന്തിയതുകൊണ്ടോ സ്വന്തം കൈയാൽ പകപോക്കിയതുകൊണ്ടോ ഉള്ള മനസ്സാക്ഷിക്കുത്തലും വ്യഥാഭാരവും യജമാനന് ഉണ്ടാകുകയുമില്ല. യഹോവ എന്റെ യജമാനനു വിജയം നൽകുമ്പോൾ ഈ എളിയ ദാസിയെയും ഓർത്തുകൊള്ളണമേ!”
32 Then Dauid said to Abigail, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meete me.
ദാവീദ് അബീഗയിലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്നെ എതിരേൽക്കാനായി ഇന്നു നിന്നെ അയച്ച, ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയ്ക്കു സ്തോത്രം!
33 And blessed be thy counsel, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from comming to shed blood, and that mine hand hath not saued me.
നിന്റെ വിവേകം സ്തുത്യർഹംതന്നെ. രക്തപാതകവും സ്വന്തം കൈകൊണ്ടു പ്രതികാരവും ചെയ്യാതെ എന്നെ ഇന്നു തടഞ്ഞ നിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തിയും പ്രശംസനീയംതന്നെ. അതിനാൽ നീ അനുഗൃഹീതയായിരിക്കട്ടെ!
34 For in deede, as the Lord God of Israel liueth, who hath kept me backe from hurting thee, except thou haddest hasted and met mee, surely there had not bene left vnto Nabal by the dawning of the day, any that pisseth against the wall.
നിന്നോടു ദ്രോഹം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെത്തടഞ്ഞ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ ജീവനുള്ള യഹോവയാണെ, നീ എന്നെ എതിരേൽക്കാൻ തിടുക്കത്തിൽ വന്നില്ലായിരുന്നെങ്കിൽ നാളത്തെ പുലരിയിൽ നാബാലിന്റെ വംശത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഒരൊറ്റ പുരുഷപ്രജപോലും ജീവനോടെ ശേഷിക്കുമായിരുന്നില്ല.”
35 Then Dauid receiued of her hande that which she had brought him, and said to her, Goe vp in peace to thine house: beholde, I haue heard thy voyce, and haue graunted thy petition.
അവൾ കൊണ്ടുവന്നിരുന്നത് ദാവീദ് അവളുടെ കൈയിൽനിന്നു സ്വീകരിച്ചു. പിന്നെ അദ്ദേഹം അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “സമാധാനത്തോടെ വീട്ടിലേക്കു പൊയ്ക്കൊള്ളൂ! ഞാൻ നിന്റെ വാക്കു കൈക്കൊണ്ട് നിന്റെ മുഖം ആദരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
36 So Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he made a feast in his house, like the feast of a King, and Nabals heart was merie within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore shee tolde him nothing, neither lesse nor more, vntil the morning arose.
അബീഗയിൽ നാബാലിന്റെ അടുത്ത് എത്തിയപ്പോൾ അയാൾ സ്വഭവനത്തിൽ രാജകീയമായ ഒരു വിരുന്നു നടത്തുകയായിരുന്നു. അയാൾ ഏറ്റവും ഉല്ലാസഭരിതനും മദ്യപിച്ചു മദോന്മത്തനും ആയിത്തീർന്നു. അതിനാൽ പിറ്റേദിവസം പ്രഭാതംവരെ അവൾ അയാളോടു യാതൊന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.
37 Then in the morning when the wine was gone out of Nabal, his wife tolde him those wordes, and his heart died within him, and he was like a stone.
പ്രഭാതത്തിൽ നാബാൽ അയാളുടെ മദ്യലഹരി ഒഴിഞ്ഞ സമയത്ത് സകലകാര്യങ്ങളും ഭാര്യ അയാളോടു പറഞ്ഞു. ഇതു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ അയാളുടെ ഹൃദയം നിർജീവമായി; അയാൾ മരവിച്ചിരുന്നുപോയി.
38 And about ten dayes after, the Lord smote Nabal, that he dyed.
ഏകദേശം പത്തുദിവസം കഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ യഹോവ നാബാലിനെ പ്രഹരിക്കുകയാൽ അയാൾ മരിച്ചുപോയി.
39 Now when Dauid heard, that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the Lord that hath iudged the cause of my rebuke of ye hand of Nabal, and hath kept his seruant from euil: for the Lord hath recompensed the wickednesse of Nabal vpon his owne head. Also Dauid sent to commune with Abigail to take her to his wife.
നാബാൽ മരിച്ചു എന്നു കേട്ടപ്പോൾ ദാവീദ് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “എന്നോടു നിന്ദാപൂർവം പെരുമാറിയതിന് എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി നാബാലിനോടു വാദിച്ച യഹോവയ്ക്കു സ്തോത്രം! അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസനെ തിന്മ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിൽനിന്നു തടയുകയും നാബാലിന്റെ അകൃത്യം അവന്റെ തലമേൽത്തന്നെ വീഴ്ത്തുകയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.” ഇതിനുശേഷം അബീഗയിൽ തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായിത്തീരുന്നതിനുള്ള താത്പര്യം അറിയിക്കുന്നതിനായി ദാവീദ് അവൾക്കു സന്ദേശംനൽകി.
40 And whe the seruants of Dauid were come to Abigail to Carmel, they spake vnto her, saying, Dauid sent vs to thee, to take thee to his wife.
ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാർ കർമേലിൽ വന്ന് അബീഗയിലിനോടു പറഞ്ഞു: “തന്റെ ഭാര്യയായിരിക്കാൻ നിന്നെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു ചെല്ലുന്നതിനായി ദാവീദ് ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
41 And she arose, and bowed her selfe on her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let thine handmayde be a seruant to wash the feete of the seruants of my lord.
അവൾ സാഷ്ടാംഗം വീണു നമസ്കരിച്ചിട്ടു പറഞ്ഞു: “ഇതാ, അങ്ങയുടെ ദാസി, അങ്ങയെ സേവിപ്പാനും എന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ ഭൃത്യരുടെ പാദങ്ങൾ കഴുകാനും സന്നദ്ധയായവൾ!”
42 And Abigail hasted, and arose, and rode vpon an asse, and her fiue maides folowed her, and she went after the messengers of Dauid, and was his wife.
അബീഗയിൽ വേഗം എഴുന്നേറ്റ് കഴുതപ്പുറത്തുകയറി. അഞ്ചു പരിചാരികകളും അവളെ അനുഗമിച്ചു. അവൾ ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭൃത്യന്മാരുടെകൂടെപ്പോയി അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു ഭാര്യയായിത്തീർന്നു.
43 Dauid also tooke Ahinoam of Izreel, and they were both his wiues.
ദാവീദ് യെസ്രീൽക്കാരിയായ അഹീനോവമിനെയും വിവാഹംകഴിച്ചിരുന്നു; ഇരുവരും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യമാരായിരുന്നു.
44 Now Saul had giuen Michal his daughter Dauids wife to Phalti the sonne of Laish, which was of Gallim.
എന്നാൽ ശൗൽ തന്റെ മകളും ദാവീദിന്റെ ഭാര്യയുമായ മീഖളിനെ ഗാല്ലീമ്യനായ ലയീശിന്റെ മകൻ ഫൽതിക്കു കൊടുത്തിരുന്നു.
