< 1 Samuel 24 >

1 When Saul was turned from ye Philistims, they told him, saying, Behold, Dauid is in the wildernes of En-gedi.
2 Then Saul tooke three thousande chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seeke Dauid and his men vpon the rocks among the wilde goates.
Katahi ka takiritia e Haora etahi tangata, e toru mano, he hunga whiriwhiri roto i a Iharaira katoa, a haere ana ki te rapu i a Rawiri ratou ko ana tangata ki nga kamaka o nga koati mohoao.
3 And hee came to the sheepecoates by the way where there was a caue, and Saul went in to do his easement: and Dauid and his men sate in the inward parts of the caue.
A ka tae ki nga taiepa hipi i te ara, he ana hoki kei reira, a ka haere atu a Haora ki te uhi i ona waewae, heoi i nga wahi i roto rawa o te ana a Rawiri ratou ko ana tangata e noho ana.
4 And the men of Dauid said vnto him, See, the day is come, whereof the Lord sayde vnto thee, Beholde, I will deliuer thine enemie into thine hande, and thou shalt doe to him as it shall seeme good to thee. Then Dauid arose and cut off the lap of Sauls garment priuily.
Na ka mea nga tangata a Rawiri ki a ia, Na, ko te ra tenei i mea ai a Ihowa ki a koe, Nana, ka hoatu e ahau tou hoariri ki tou ringa, a ka meatia e koe ki a ia ta tou hinengaro e pai ai. Katahi ka whakatika a Rawiri, a tapahia pukutia ana e ia te pito o te koroka o Haora.
5 And afterward Dauid was touched in his heart, because he had cut off the lappe which was on Sauls garment.
A muri iho ka whakawiri te ngakau o Rawiri i roto i a ia, mona i tapahi i te pito o te koroka o Haora.
6 And he said vnto his men, The Lord keepe mee from doing that thing vnto my master the Lords Anoynted, to lay mine hand vpon him: for he is the Anoynted of the Lord.
Na ka mea ia ki ana tangata, Ma Ihowa ahau e arai kei meatia tenei mea ki toku ariki, ki ta Ihowa i whakawahi ai, kia totoro atu toku ringa ki a ia, ko ta Ihowa hoki ia i whakawahi ai.
7 So Dauid ouercame his seruants with these words, and suffered them not to arise against Saul: so Saul rose vp out of the caue and went away.
Ko nga kupu enei a Rawiri i haukotia ai e ia ana tangata, a kihai i tukua kia whakatika ki a Haora. Na whakatika ana a Haora i roto i te ana, a haere ana i tona ara.
8 Dauid also arose afterward, and went out of the caue, and cryed after Saul, saying, O my lorde the King. And when Saul looked behinde him, Dauid inclined his face to the earth, and bowed himselfe.
Ka whakatika a Rawiri i muri, a puta ana ano i te ana, ka karanga i muri i a Haora, ka mea, E toku ariki, e te kingi. A, i te tirohanga o Haora ki muri i a ia, ka tuohu te mata o Rawiri, a piko ana ki te whenua.
9 And Dauid saide to Saul, Wherefore giuest thou an eare to mens words, that say, Behold, Dauid seeketh euill against thee?
Na ka mea a Rawiri ki a Haora, He aha koe i whakarongo ai ki nga kupu a te tangata ina mea, Kei te rapu a Rawiri i te he mou?
10 Behold, this day thine eyes haue seene, that the Lord had deliuered thee this day into mine hand in the caue, and some bade me kill thee, but I had compassion on thee, and said, I will not lay mine hande on my master: for he is the Lordes Anoynted.
Na kua kite nei ou kanohi i tenei ra i ta Ihowa homaitanga i a koe inaianei ki toku ringa i roto i te ana; a i ki mai etahi kia patua koe; otiia i tohu toku kanohi i a koe; i mea hoki ahau, E kore toku ringa e totoro ki toku ariki; ko ta Ihowa i a i whakawahi ai.
11 Moreouer my father, behold: behold, I say, the lappe of thy garment in mine hand: for when I cut off the lappe of thy garment, I killed thee not. Vnderstad and see, that there is neither euil nor wickednesse in mee, neither haue I sinned against thee, yet thou huntest after my soule to take it.
Titiro mai ano hoki, e toku papa, ae ra, tirohia mai te pito o tou koroka i toku ringa nei; ta te mea i ahau nei i tapahi ai i te pito o tou koroka, a kihai i patu i a koe, na ka mohio koe, ka kite, kahore he kino, he tutu ranei i toku ringa; ka hore ano oku hara ki a koe; heoi e whaia nei ahau e koe kia whakamatea.
12 The Lord be iudge betweene thee and me, and the Lord auenge me of thee, and let not mine hand be vpon thee.
Ma Ihowa e whakarite ta taua whakawa, me Ihowa ano e rapu he utu moku i a koe; ko toku ringa ia e kore e pa ki a koe.
13 According as the olde prouerbe sayeth, Wickednesse proceedeth from the wicked, but mine hand be not vpon thee.
14 After whom is the King of Israel come out? after whome doest thou pursue? after a dead dog, and after a flea?
He whai i a wai i puta mai ai te kingi o Iharaira? ko wai tenei te arumia nei e koe? he kuri mate, he puruhi.
15 The Lord therfore be iudge, and iudge betweene thee and me, and see, and pleade my cause, and deliuer me out of thine hand.
Ma Ihowa e whakarongo, e whakarite ta taua whakawa, mana e titiro mai, e tohe taku tohe, e whakaora hoki ahau i roto i tou ringa.
16 Whe Dauid had made an end of speaking these words to Saul, Saul sayd, Is this thy voyce, my sonne Dauid? and Saul lift vp his voice, and wept,
17 And sayd to Dauid, Thou art more righteous then I: for thou hast rendred me good, and I haue rendred thee euill.
Na ka mea ia ki a Rawiri, Tika rawa koe i ahau; he pai hoki tau utu ki ahau, ko taku utu ia ki a koe he kino.
18 And thou hast shewed this day, that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the Lord had closed me in thine hands, thou killedst me not.
19 For who shall finde his enemie, and let him depart free? wherefore the Lord render thee good for that thou hast done vnto me this day.
20 For now behold, I know that thou shalt be King, and that the kingdome of Israel shall be stablished in thine hand.
21 Sweare now therfore vnto me by the Lord, that thou wilt not destroy my seede after me, and that thou wilt not abolish my name out of my fathers house.
Na oatitia mai a Ihowa ki ahau e kore e hautopea atu e koe oku uri i muri i ahau, e kore ano hoki e huna e koe toku ingoa i roto i te whare o toku papa.
22 So Dauid sware vnto Saul, and Saul went home: but Dauid and his men went vp vnto ye hold.
