1 Samuel 22

1 Dauid therefore departed thence, and saued him selfe in the caue of Adullam: and when his brethren and all his fathers house heard it, they went downe thither to him.

Or David partit de là, et se sauva dans la caverne d'Hadullam; ce que ses frères et toute la maison de son père ayant appris, ils descendirent là vers lui.

2 And there gathered vnto him all men that were in trouble and all men that were in dette, and all those that were vexed in minde, and he was their prince, and there were with him about foure hundreth men.

Tous ceux aussi qui étaient mal dans leurs affaires, et qui avaient des créanciers [dont ils étaient tourmentés], et qui avaient le cœur plein d'amertume, s'assemblèrent vers lui, et il fut leur chef; et il y eut avec lui environ quatre cents hommes.

3 And Dauid went thence to Mizpeh in Moab, and said vnto the King of Moab, I pray thee, let my father and my mother come and abide with you, till I knowe what God wil doe for me.

Et David s'en alla de là à Mitspé de Moab; et il dit au Roi de Moab: Je te prie que mon père et ma mère se retirent vers vous jusqu'à ce que je sache ce que Dieu fera de moi.

4 And he brought them before the King of Moab, and they dwelt with him all the while that Dauid was in the holde.

Et il les amena devant le Roi de Moab, et ils demeurèrent avec lui, tout le temps que David fut dans cette forteresse.

5 And the Prophet Gad sayde vnto Dauid, Abide not in the holde, but depart and goe into the land of Iudah. Then Dauid departed and came into the forest of Hareth.

Or Gad le prophète dit à David: Ne demeure point dans cette forteresse, [mais] va-t'en, et entre dans le pays de Juda. David donc s'en alla, et vint en la forêt de Hérets.

6 And Saul heard that Dauid was discouered, and the men that were with him, and Saul remayned in Gibeah vnder a tree in Ramah, hauing his speare in his hande, and all his seruants stoode about him.

Et Saül apprit qu'on avait découvert David et les gens qui étaient avec lui. Or Saül était assis au coteau sous un chêne à Rama, ayant sa hallebarde en sa main, et tous ses serviteurs se tenaient devant lui.

7 And Saul said vnto his seruants that stood about him, Heare now, ye sonnes of Iemini, wil the sonne of Ishai giue euery one of you fields and vineyardes: will he make you all captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer hundreths:

Et Saül dit à ses serviteurs qui se tenaient devant lui: Ecoutez maintenant, Benjamites: Le fils d'Isaï vous donnera-t-il à vous tous des champs et des vignes? Vous établira-t-il tous gouverneurs sur milliers, et sur centaines?

8 That all ye haue conspired against me, and there is none that tellerh mee that my sonne hath made a couenant with the sonne of Ishai? and there is none of you that is sory for me, or sheweth mee, that my sonne hath stirred vp my seruant to lie in wayte against me, as appeareth this day?

Que vous ayez tous conspiré contre moi, et qu'il n'y ait personne qui m'avertisse que mon fils a fait alliance avec le fils d'Isaï, et qu'il n'y ait aucun de vous qui ait pitié de moi, et qui m'avertisse; car mon fils a suscité mon serviteur contre moi pour me dresser des embûches, comme il paraît aujourd'hui.

9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite (who was appoynted ouer the seruants of Saul) and sayd, I saw the sonne of Ishai when he came to Nob, to Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitub,

Alors Doëg Iduméen, qui était établi sur les serviteurs de Saül, répondit, et dit: J'ai vu le fils d'Isaï venir à Nob vers Ahimélec fils d'Ahitub;

10 Who asked counsell of the Lord for him and gaue him vitailes, and he gaue him also the sword of Goliath the Philistim.

Qui a consulté l'Eternel pour lui, et lui a donné des vivres, et l'épée de Goliath le Philistin.

11 Then the King sent to call Ahimelech the Priest the sonne of Ahitub, and all his fathers house, to wit, the Priests that were in Nob: and they came all to the King.

Alors le Roi envoya appeler Ahimélec le Sacrificateur fils d'Ahitub, et toute la famille de son père, [savoir] les Sacrificateurs qui étaient à Nob; et ils vinrent tous vers le Roi.

12 And Saul said, Heare now thou sonne of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

Et Saül dit: Ecoute maintenant, fils d'Ahitub; et il répondit: Me voici, mon Seigneur.

13 Then Saul sayde vnto him, Why haue yee conspired against me, thou and the sonne of Ishai, in that thou hast giuen him vitaile, and a sworde, and hast asked counsell of God for him, that he should rise against me, and lye in wayte as appeareth this day?

Alors Saül lui dit: Pourquoi avez-vous conspiré contre moi, toi et le fils d'Isaï, vu que tu lui as donné du pain, et une épée, et que tu as consulté Dieu pour lui, afin qu'il s'élevât contre moi pour me dresser des embûches, comme il paraît aujourd'hui.

14 And Ahimelech answered the King, and sayde, Who is so faithfull among all thy seruants as Dauid, being also the Kings sonne in lawe, and goeth at thy commandement, and is honourable in thine house?

Et Ahimélec répondit au Roi, et dit: Entre tous tes serviteurs y en a-t-il un comme David, qui est fidèle, et gendre du Roi, et qui est parti par ton commandement, et qui est si honoré en ta maison?

15 Haue I this day first begun to aske counsell of God for him? be it farre from mee, let not the King impute any thing vnto his seruant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy seruant knew nothing of all this, lesse nor more.

Ai-je commencé aujourd'hui à consulter Dieu pour lui? A Dieu ne plaise! Que le Roi ne charge donc d'aucune chose son serviteur, ni toute la maison de mon père; car ton serviteur ne sait chose ni petite ni grande de tout ceci.

16 Then the King sayd, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy fathers house.

Et le Roi lui dit: Certainement tu mourras, Ahimélec, et toute la famille de ton père.

17 And the King sayde vnto the sergeantes that stoode about him, Turne, and slay the Priestes of the Lord, because their hand also is with Dauid, and because they knewe when he fled, and shewed it not vnto mee. But the seruantes of the King would not moue their hands to fall vpon the Priests of the Lord.

Alors le Roi dit aux archers qui se tenaient devant lui: Tournez-vous, et faites mourir les Sacrificateurs de l'Eternel; car ils sont aussi de la faction de David parce qu'ils ont bien su qu'il s'enfuyait, et qu'ils ne m'en ont point averti. Mais les serviteurs du Roi ne voulurent point étendre leurs mains, pour se jeter sur les Sacrificateurs de l'Eternel.

18 Then the King sayde to Doeg, Turne thou and fall vpon the Priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and ran vpon the Priestes, and slewe that same daye foure score and fiue persons that did weare a linen Ephod.

Alors le Roi dit à Doëg: Tourne-toi, et te jette sur les Sacrificateurs; et Doëg Iduméen se tourna, et se jeta sur les Sacrificateurs; et il tua en ce jour-là quatre vingt cinq hommes qui portaient l'Ephod de lin.

19 Also Nob the citie of the Priestes smote he with the edge of the sword, both man and woman, both childe and suckling, both oxe and asse, and sheepe with the edge of the sword.

Et il fit passer Nob, ville des Sacrificateurs, au fil de l'épée, les hommes et les femmes, les grands et ceux qui tètent, même [il fit passer] les bœufs, les ânes, et le menu bétail au fil de l'épée.

20 But one of the sonnes of Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitub (whose name was Abiathar) escaped and fled after Dauid.

Toutefois un des fils d'Ahimélec, fils d'Ahitub, qui avait nom Abiathar, se sauva, et s'enfuit auprès de David.

21 And Abiathar shewed Dauid, that Saul had slayne the Lords Priestes.

Et Abiathar rapporta à David, que Saül avait tué les Sacrificateurs de l'Eternel.

22 And Dauid sayd vnto Abiathar, I knewe it the same day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would tell Saul. I am the cause of the death of all the persons of thy fathers house.

Et David dit à Abiathar: Je connus bien en ce jour-là, puisque Doëg Iduméen était là, qu'il ne manquerait pas de le rapporter à Saül; je suis cause [de ce qui est arrivé] à toutes les personnes de la famille de ton père.

23 Abide thou with me, and feare not: for he that seeketh my life, shall seeke thy life also: for with me thou shalt be in safegard.

Demeure avec moi, ne crains point; car celui qui cherche ma vie, cherche la tienne; certainement tu seras gardé avec moi.
