1 Samuel 19
1 Then Saul spake to Ionathan his sonne, and to all his seruantes, that they shoulde kill Dauid: but Ionathan Sauls sonne had a great fauour to Dauid.
Saul comunicò a Giònata suo figlio e ai suoi ministri di aver deciso di uccidere Davide. Ma Giònata figlio di Saul nutriva grande affetto per Davide.
2 And Ionathan told Dauid, saying, Saul my father goeth about to slay thee: nowe therefore, I pray thee, take heede vnto thy selfe vnto the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thy selfe.
Giònata informò Davide dicendo: «Saul mio padre cerca di ucciderti. Stà in guardia da domani all'alba, stà fermo in un luogo nascosto e non farti vedere.
3 And I will go out, and stand by my father in the fielde where thou art, and will commune with my father of thee, and I will see what he sayth, and will tell thee.
Io uscirò e starò al fianco di mio padre nella campagna dove sarai tu e parlerò in tuo favore a mio padre. Vedrò ciò che succede e te lo farò sapere».
4 And Ionathan spake good of Dauid vnto Saul his father, and said vnto him, Let not the King sinne against his seruat, against Dauid: for he hath not sinned against thee, but his works haue bene to thee very good.
Giònata parlò difatti a Saul suo padre in favore di Davide e gli disse: «Non si macchi il re contro il suo servo, contro Davide, che non si è macchiato contro di te, che anzi ti ha reso un servizio molto grande.
5 For he did put his life in daunger, and slew the Philistim, and the Lord wrought a great saluation for al Israel: thou sawest it, and thou reioycedst: wherefore then wilt thou sinne against innocent blood, and slay Dauid without a cause?
Egli ha esposto la vita, quando sconfisse il Filisteo, e il Signore ha concesso una grande vittoria a tutto Israele. Hai visto e hai gioito. Dunque, perché pecchi contro un innocente, uccidendo Davide senza motivo?».
6 Then Saul hearkened vnto the voyce of Ionathan, and Saul sware, As the Lord liueth, he shall not dye.
Saul ascoltò la voce di Giònata e giurò: «Per la vita del Signore, non morirà!».
7 So Ionathan called Dauid, and Ionathan shewed him all those words, and Ionathan brought Dauid to Saul, and hee was in his presence as in times past.
Giònata chiamò Davide e gli riferì questo colloquio. Poi Giònata introdusse presso Saul Davide, che rimase al suo seguito come prima.
8 Againe the warre began, and Dauid went out and fought with the Philistims, and slew them with a great slaughter, and they fled from him.
La guerra si riaccese e Davide uscì a combattere i Filistei e inflisse loro una grande sconfitta, sicché si dettero alla fuga davanti a lui.
9 And the euill spirit of the Lord was vpon Saul, as hee sate in his house hauing his speare in his hand, and Dauid played with his hand.
Ma un sovrumano spirito cattivo si impadronì di Saul. Egli stava in casa e teneva in mano la lancia, mentre Davide suonava la cetra.
10 And Saul intended to smite Dauid to the wall with the speare: but hee turned aside out of Sauls presence, and he smote the speare against the wall: but Dauid fled, and escaped the same night.
Saul tentò di colpire Davide con la lancia contro il muro. Ma Davide si scansò da Saul, che infisse la lancia nel muro. Davide fuggì e quella notte fu salvo.
11 Saul also sent messengers vnto Dauids house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal Dauids wife told it him, saying, If thou saue not thy selfe this night, to morowe thou shalt be slayne.
Saul mandò messaggeri alla casa di Davide per sorvegliarlo e ucciderlo il mattino dopo. Mikal moglie di Davide lo avvertì dicendo: «Se non metti al sicuro la tua vita questa notte, domani sarai ucciso».
12 So Michal let Dauid downe through a window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
Mikal calò Davide dalla finestra e quegli partì di corsa e si mise in salvo.
13 Then Michal tooke an image, and layde it in the bed, and put a pillow stuffed with goates heare vnder the head of it, and couered it with a cloth.
Mikal prese allora i terafim e li pose presso il letto. Mise dalla parte del capo un tessuto di pelo di capra e coprì il letto con una coltre.
14 And when Saul sent messengers to take Dauid, she sayd, He is sicke.
Saul mandò dunque messaggeri a prendere Davide ma essa disse: «E' malato».
15 And Saul sent the messengers againe to see Dauid, saying, Bring him to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
Saul rimandò i messaggeri a vedere Davide con questo ordine: «Portatelo qui da me nel suo letto, perché lo faccia morire».
16 And when the messengers were come in, behold, an image was in the bed, with a pillow of goates heare vnder the head of it.
Tornarono i messaggeri ed ecco presso il letto c'erano i terafim e il tessuto di pelo di capra dalla parte del capo.
17 And Saul said vnto Michal, Why hast thou mocked me so, and sent away mine enemie, that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said vnto me, Let me go, or els I will kill thee.
Saul disse a Mikal: «Perché mi hai ingannato a questo modo e hai fatto fuggire il mio nemico, perché si mettesse in salvo?». Rispose Mikal a Saul: «Egli mi ha detto: Lasciami fuggire, altrimenti ti uccido».
18 So Dauid fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him: and he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.
Davide dunque fuggì e si mise in salvo. Andò da Samuele in Rama e gli narrò quanto gli aveva fatto Saul; poi Davide e Samuele andarono ad abitare a Naiot.
19 But one tolde Saul, saying, Beholde, Dauid is at Naioth in Ramah.
La cosa fu riferita a Saul: «Ecco, Davide sta a Naiot presso Rama».
20 And Saul sent messengers to take Dauid: and when they sawe a company of Prophets prophecying, and Samuel standing as appoynted ouer them, the Spirit of God fell vpon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophecied.
Allora Saul spedì messaggeri a catturare Davide, ma quando videro profetare la comunità dei profeti, mentre Samuele stava in piedi alla loro testa, lo spirito di Dio investì i messaggeri di Saul e anch'essi fecero i profeti.
21 And when it was tolde Saul, he sent other messengers, and they prophecied likewise: againe Saul sent the third messengers, and they prophecied also.
Annunziarono a Saul questa cosa ed egli spedì altri messaggeri, ma anch'essi fecero i profeti. Saul mandò di nuovo messaggeri per la terza volta, ma anch'essi fecero i profeti.
22 Then went he himselfe to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu, and he asked, and sayd, Where are Samuel and Dauid? and one sayd, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah.
Allora venne egli stesso a Rama e si portò alla grande cisterna che si trova a Secu e domandò: «C'è qui forse Samuele con Davide?». Gli risposero: «Eccoli: sono a Naiot di Rama».
23 And he went thither, euen to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God came vpon him also, and he went prophecying vntill hee came to Naioth in Ramah.
Egli si incamminò verso Naiot di Rama, ma cadde anche su di lui lo spirito di Dio e andava avanti facendo il profeta finché giunse a Naiot di Rama.
24 And he stript off his clothes, and he prophesied also before Samuel, and fell downe naked all that day and all that night: therefore they say, Is Saul also among the Prophets?
Anch'egli si tolse gli abiti e continuò a fare il profeta davanti a Samuele; poi crollò e restò nudo tutto quel giorno e tutta la notte. Da qui è venuto il detto: «Anche Saul è tra i profeti?».
