1 Samuel 15
1 Afterward Samuel said vnto Saul, The Lord sent me to anoint thee King ouer his people, ouer Israel: nowe therefore obey the voyce of the wordes of the Lord.
OR Samuele disse a Saulle: Il Signore mi ha mandato per ungerti per re sopra il suo popolo, sopra Israele; ora dunque ascolta la voce delle parole del Signore.
2 Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I remember what Amalek did to Israel, howe they laide waite for the in ye way, as they came vp from Egypt.
Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Io mi son rammemorato ciò che Amalec fece ad Israele, come egli se gli oppose tra via, quando egli salì fuor di Egitto.
3 Nowe therefore goe, and sinite Amalek, and destroy ye all that perteyneth vnto them, and haue no compassion on them, but slay both man and woman, both infant and suckling, both oxe, and sheepe, both camell, and asse.
Ora va', e percuoti Amalec, e distruggete al modo dell'interdetto tutto ciò che [è] suo; e non risparmiarlo; anzi fa' morire uomini e donne, fanciulli e bambini di poppa, buoi e pecore, cammelli ed asini.
4 And Saul assembled ye people, and nombred them in Telaim, two hundreth thousande footemen, and ten thousand men of Iudah.
Saulle adunque raunò il popolo, e ne fece la rassegna in Telaim, [in numero di] dugentomila uomini a piè, e di diecimila di Giuda.
5 And Saul came to a citie of Amalek, and set watch at the riuer.
E Saulle venne fino alla città di Amalec, e pose agguati nella valle.
6 And Saul said vnto the Kenites, Goe, depart, and get you downe from among the Amalekites, least I destroy you with them: for ye shewed mercie to all the children of Israel, when they came vp from Egypt: and the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.
E Saulle disse a' Chenei: Andate, partitevi, scendete del mezzo degli Amalechiti; che talora io non vi distrugga con loro; avendo pur voi usata benignità inverso tutti i figliuoli d'Israele, quando salirono fuor di Egitto. I Chenei adunque si partirono di mezzo gli Amalechiti.
7 So Saul smote the Amalekites from Hauilah as thou commest to Shur, that is before Egypt,
E Saulle percosse gli Amalechiti da Havila fino a Sur, che [è] a fronte all'Egitto.
8 And tooke Agag the King of the Amalekites aliue, and destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
E prese vivo Agag, re degli Amalechiti; ma distrusse tutto il popolo al modo dell'interdetto, [mettendolo] a fil di spada.
9 But Saul and the people spared Agag, and the better sheepe, and the oxen, and the fat beasts, and the lambes, and all that was good, and they would not destroy them: but euery thing that was vile and nought worth, that they destroyed.
E Saulle, e il popolo, risparmiarono Agag, e il meglio delle pecore, e i buoi appaiati, e i montoni, e tutto [ciò ch'era] buono; e non vollero distruggere queste cose; ben distrussero ogni cosa vile e cattiva.
10 Then came the worde of the Lord vnto Samuel, saying,
Allora la parola del Signore fu [indirizzata] a Samuele, dicendo:
11 It repenteth me that I haue made Saul King: for he is turned from me, and hath not performed my commandements. And Samuel was mooued, and cryed vnto the Lord all night.
Io mi pento d'aver costituito re Saulle; perciocchè egli si è rivolto indietro da me, e non ha messe ad esecuzione le mie parole. E Samuele ne fu molto cruccioso, e gridò al Signore tutta quella notte.
12 And when Samuel arose early to meete Saul in the morning, one tolde Samuel, saying, Saul is gone to Carmel: and beholde, he hath made him there a place, from whence he returned, and departed, and is gone downe to Gilgal.
Poi Samuele si levò la mattina, per andare incontro a Saulle. Ed egli fu rapportato e detto a Samuele: Saulle è venuto in Carmel; ed ecco, egli si ha rizzato un trofeo; poi se n'è ritornato, ed è passato oltre, ed è disceso in Ghilgal.
13 Then Samuel came to Saul, and Saul said vnto him. Blessed be thou of the Lord, I haue fulfilled the commandement of the Lord.
Samuele adunque venne a Saulle. E Saulle disse a Samuele: [Sii] tu benedetto appo il Signore; io ho messa ad esecuzione la parola del Signore.
14 But Samuel saide, What meaneth then the bleating of the sheepe in mine eares, and the lowing of the oxen which I heare?
E Samuele disse: Che belar di pecore dunque [è] questo [che] mi [viene] agli orecchi? e [che] mugghiar di buoi [è questo] che io odo?
15 And Saul answered, They haue brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheepe, and of the oxen to sacrifice them vnto the Lord thy God, and the remnant haue we destroyed.
E Saulle disse: Queste [bestie] sono state menate [dal paese] degli Amalechiti; perciocchè il popolo ha risparmiato il meglio delle pecore e de' buoi, per farne sacrificio al Signore Iddio tuo; ma abbiamo distrutto il rimanente al modo dell'interdetto.
16 Againe Samuel saide to Saul, Let me tell thee what the Lord hath saide to me this night. And he said vnto him, Say on.
E Samuele disse a Saulle: Permetti che io ti dichiari ciò che il Signore mi ha detto questa notte. Ed egli gli disse: Parla pure.
17 Then Samuel saide, When thou wast litle in thine owne sight, wast thou not made the head of the tribes of Israel? for the Lord anointed thee King ouer Israel.
E Samuele disse: Non [è egli così], che, quando tu ti sei reputato piccolo, tu [sei stato costituito] capo delle tribù d'Israele, e il Signore ti ha unto per re sopra Israele?
18 And the Lord sent thee on a iourney, and saide, Goe, and destroy those sinners the Amalekites, and fight against them, vntill thou destroy them.
Ora il Signore ti avea mandato a questa impresa, e ti avea detto: Va', distruggi que' peccatori, gli Amalechiti, e fa' loro guerra finchè sieno consumati.
19 Nowe wherefore hast thou not obeyed the voyce of the Lord, but hast turned to the pray, and hast done wickedly in the sight of the Lord?
Perchè dunque non hai tu ubbidito alla voce del Signore? anzi ti sei rivolto alla preda, ed hai fatto ciò che dispiace al Signore?
20 And Saul saide vnto Samuel, Yea, I haue obeyed the voyce of the Lord, and haue gone the way which the Lord sent me, and haue brought Agag the King of Amalek, and haue destroyed the Amalekites.
E Saulle disse a Samuele: Io ho pure ubbidito alla voce del Signore, e sono andato all'impresa, alla quale il Signore mi ha mandato, e ne ho menato Agag, re di Amalec, ed ho distrutti gli Amalechiti al modo dell'interdetto.
21 But the people tooke of the spoyle, sheepe, and oxen, and the chiefest of the things which shoulde haue bene destroyed, to offer vnto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
Ma il popolo ha preso, d'infra la preda, buoi e pecore, il meglio dell'interdetto, per farne sacrificio al Signore Iddio tuo, in Ghilgal.
22 And Samuel saide, Hath the Lord as great pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as when the voyce of the Lord is obeyed? beholde, to obey is better then sacrifice, and to hearken is better then the fatte of rammes.
E Samuele disse: Il Signore ha egli a grado gli olocausti e i sacrificii, come che si ubbidisca alla sua voce? Ecco, ubbidire val meglio che sacrificio; [e] prestare attenzione [val meglio] che grasso di montoni.
23 For rebellion is as the sinne of withcraft, and transgression is wickednesse and idolatrie. Because thou hast cast away the worde of the Lord, therefore hee hath cast away thee from being King.
Perciocchè la ribellione [è pari al] peccato dell'indovinare; e il trasgredire [è pari al peccato che si commette intorno agl'] idoli ed alle immagini. Perciocchè tu hai sdegnata la parola del Signore, egli altresì ha sdegnato te, acciocchè tu non [sii più] re.
24 Then Saul sayde vnto Samuel, I haue sinned: for I haue transgressed the commandement of the Lord, and thy wordes, because I feared the people, and obeyed their voyce.
Allora Saulle disse a Samuele: Io ho peccato; conciossiachè io abbia trasgredito il comandamento del Signore, e le tue parole; perciocchè io temeva del popolo, onde io acconsentii a ciò ch'egli disse.
25 Nowe therefore I pray thee, take away my sinne, and turne againe with mee, that I may worship the Lord.
Ma ora, perdonami, ti prego, il mio peccato, e ritorna meco; ed io adorerò il Signore.
26 But Samuel saide vnto Saul, I will not returne with thee: for thou hast cast away the word of the Lord, and the Lord hath cast away thee, that thou shalt not be King ouer Israel.
E Samuele disse a Saulle: Io non ritornerò teco; perciocchè tu hai sdegnata la parola del Signore, e il Signore altresì ha sdegnato te, acciocchè tu non sii [più] re sopra Israele.
27 And as Samuel turned himselfe to goe away, he caught the lappe of his coate, and it rent.
E come Samuele si fu voltato per andarsene, [Saulle] prese il lembo del manto di esso, il quale si stracciò.
28 Then Samuel saide vnto him, The Lord hath rent the kingdome of Israel from thee this day, and hath giuen it to thy neighbour, that is better then thou.
E Samuele gli disse: Il Signore ha oggi stracciato d'addosso a te il regno d'Israele, e l'ha dato ad un tuo prossimo, ch'[è] miglior di te.
29 For in deede the strength of Israel will not lye nor repent: for hee is not a man that hee should repent.
Ed anche [egli, che è] la Vittoria d'Israele, non mentirà, e non si pentirà; perciocchè egli non [è] un uomo, per pentirsi.
30 Then he saide, I haue sinned: but honour mee, I pray thee, before the Elders of my people, and before Israel, and turne againe with mee, that I may worship the Lord thy God.
E [Saulle] disse: Io ho peccato: deh! onorami ora in presenza degli Anziani del mio popolo, ed in presenza d'Israele, e ritorna meco, ed io adorerò il Signore Iddio tuo.
31 So Samuel turned againe, and followed Saul: and Saul worshipped the Lord.
Samuele adunque se ne ritornò dietro a Saulle; e Saulle adorò il Signore.
32 Then saide Samuel, Bring yee hither to me Agag ye King of the Amalekites: and Agag came vnto him pleasantly, and Agag saide, Truely the bitternesse of death is passed.
Poi Samuele disse: Menatemi qua Agag, re di Amalec; ed Agag se ne andò a lui con dilicatezze. Ed Agag diceva: Certo l'amaritudine della morte è passata.
33 And Samuel sayde, As thy sworde hath made women childlesse, so shall thy mother bee childelesse among other women. And Samuel hewed Agag in pieces before the Lord in Gilgal.
Ma Samuele [gli] disse: Siccome la tua spada ha orbate le donne [di figliuoli], così sarà tua madre orbata [di figliuoli] fra le donne. E Samuele fece squartare Agag nel cospetto del Signore, in Ghilgal.
34 So Samuel departed to Ramah, and Saul went vp to his house to Gibeah of Saul.
Poi Samuele se ne andò in Rama. E Saulle salì a casa sua in Ghibea di Saulle.
35 And Samuel came no more to see Saul vntill the day of his death: but Samuel mourned for Saul, and the Lord repented that hee made Saul King ouer Israel.
E Samuele non vide più Saulle, fino al giorno della sua morte; benchè Samuele facesse cordoglio di Saulle; ma il Signore s'era pentito d'aver costituito Saulle re sopra Israele.
