1 Samuel 14
1 Then on a day Ionathan the sonne of Saul sayde vnto the yong man that bare his armour, Come and let vs goe ouer towarde the Philistims garison, that is yonder on the other side, but he tolde not his father.
Und es geschah eines Tages, da sprach Jonathan, der Sohn Sauls, zu dem Knaben, der seine Waffen trug: Komm und laß uns hinübergehen zu der Aufstellung der Philister, die dort drüben ist. Seinem Vater aber tat er es nicht kund.
2 And Saul taried in the border of Gibeah vnder a pomegranate tree, which was in Migron, and the people that were with him, were about sixe hundreth men.
Und Saul saß am Ende von Gibea, unter dem Granatbaum, der zu Migron ist; [O. war] und des Volkes, das bei ihm war, war bei sechshundert Mann.
3 And Ahiah the sonne of Ahitub, Ichabods brother, the sonne of Phinehas, the sonne of Eli, was the Lordes Priest in Shiloh, and ware an Ephod: and the people knewe not that Ionathan was gone.
[Und Ahija, der Sohn Ahitubs, des Bruders Jkabods, des Sohnes Pinehas, des Sohnes Elis, des Priesters Jehovas zu Silo, trug das Ephod.] Und das Volk wußte nicht, daß Jonathan weggegangen war.
4 Nowe in the way whereby Ionathan sought to go ouer to the Philistims garison, there was a sharpe rocke on the one side, and a sharpe rocke on the other side: the name of the one was called Bozez, and the name of the other Seneh.
Es war aber zwischen den Pässen, durch welche Jonathan zu der Aufstellung der Philister hinüberzugehen suchte, eine Felszacke auf dieser Seite und eine Felszacke auf jener Seite: der Name der einen war Bozez, und der Name der anderen Sene;
5 The one rocke stretched from the North towarde Michmash, and the other was from the South toward Gibeah.
die eine Zacke bildet eine Säule nordwärts, Mikmas gegenüber, und die andere südwärts, Geba gegenüber.
6 And Ionathan saide to the yong man that bare his armour, Come, and let vs goe ouer vnto the garison of these vncircumcised: it may be that the Lord will worke with vs: for it is not hard to the Lord to saue with many, or with fewe.
Und Jonathan sprach zu dem Knaben, der seine Waffen trug: Komm und laß uns hinübergehen zu der Aufstellung dieser Unbeschnittenen; vielleicht wird Jehova für uns wirken, denn für Jehova gibt es kein Hindernis, durch viele zu retten oder durch wenige.
7 And he that bare his armour, saide vnto him, Doe all that is in thine heart: goe where it pleaseth thee: beholde, I am with thee as thine heart desireth.
Und sein Waffenträger sprach zu ihm: Tue alles, was in deinem Herzen ist; wende dich, wohin du willst, siehe, ich bin mit dir nach deinem Herzen.
8 Then said Ionathan, Beholde, we goe ouer vnto those men, and will shewe our selues vnto them.
Und Jonathan sprach: Siehe, wir gehen zu den Männern hinüber und wollen uns ihnen zeigen.
9 If they say on this wise to vs, Tarie vntill we come to you, then we will stand still in our place, and not goe vp to them.
Wenn sie so zu uns sprechen: Stehet still, bis wir zu euch gelangen! so wollen wir auf unserer Stelle stehen bleiben und nicht zu ihnen hinaufgehen;
10 But if they say, Come vp vnto vs, then we will goe vp: for the Lord hath deliuered them into our hande: and this shall be a signe vnto vs.
wenn sie aber so sprechen: Kommet zu uns herauf! so wollen wir hinaufgehen, denn Jehova hat sie in unsere Hand gegeben; und das soll uns das Zeichen sein.
11 So they both shewed themselues vnto the garison of the Philistims: and the Philistims said, See, the Ebrewes come out of the holes wherein they had hid themselues.
Und beide zeigten sich der Aufstellung der Philister. Da sprachen die Philister: Siehe, Hebräer kommen aus den Löchern hervor, worin sie sich versteckt haben.
12 And the men of the garison answered Ionathan, and his armour bearer, and said, Come vp to vs: for we will shewe you a thing. Then Ionathan said vnto his armour bearer, Come vp after me: for the Lord hath deliuered them into the hand of Israel.
Und die Männer der Aufstellung antworteten Jonathan und seinem Waffenträger und sprachen: Kommet zu uns herauf, so wollen wir euch etwas zu wissen tun! Da sprach Jonathan zu seinem Waffenträger: Steige hinauf, mir nach; denn Jehova hat sie in die Hand Israels gegeben.
13 So Ionathan went vp vpon his hands and vpon his feete, and his armour bearer after him: and some fell before Ionathan, and his armour bearer slewe others after him.
Und Jonathan stieg auf seinen Händen und auf seinen Füßen hinauf, und sein Waffenträger ihm nach. Und sie fielen vor Jonathan, und sein Waffenträger tötete hinter ihm her.
14 So the first slaughter which Ionathan and his armour bearer made, was about twentie men, as it were within halfe an acre of land which two oxen plowe.
Und die erste Niederlage, welche Jonathan und sein Waffenträger anrichteten, [W. der erste Schlag, welchen schlugen] war bei zwanzig Mann, etwa auf der halben Furchenlänge eines Jucharts Ackers.
15 And there was a feare in the hoste, and in the field, and among all the people: the garison also, and they that went out to spoyle, were afraid themselues: and the earth trembled: for it was striken with feare by God.
Und ein Schrecken entstand im Lager, auf dem Felde und unter dem ganzen Volke; die Aufstellung und der Verheerungszug, auch sie erschraken; und das Land erbebte, und es wurde zu einem Schrecken Gottes.
16 Then the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Beniamin sawe: and beholde, the multitude was discomfited, and smitten as they went.
Und die Wächter Sauls zu Gibea-Benjamin sahen, und siehe, die Menge zerrann und lief dahin und dorthin. [O. zerrann und verlief und zerstreute sich]
17 Therefore saide Saul vnto the people that were with him, Search nowe and see, who is gone from vs. And when they had nombred, beholde, Ionathan and his armour bearer were not there.
Und Saul sprach zu dem Volke, das bei ihm war: Haltet doch Musterung und sehet, wer von uns weggegangen ist. Und sie hielten Musterung, und siehe, Jonathan und sein Waffenträger waren nicht da.
18 And Saul said vnto Ahiah, Bring hither the Arke of God (for the Arke of God was at that time with the children of Israel)
Da sprach Saul zu Ahija: Bringe die Lade Gottes herbei; denn die Lade Gottes war an jenem Tage unter den Kindern Israel.
19 And while Saul talked vnto the Priest, the noyse that was in the hoste of the Philistims, spred farther abroade, and encreased: therefore Saul said vnto the Priest, Withdraw thine hand.
Und es geschah, während Saul zu dem Priester redete, da nahm das Getümmel im Lager der Philister fort und fort zu; und Saul sprach zu dem Priester: Ziehe deine Hand zurück.
20 And Saul was assembled with all the people that were with him, and they came to the battell: and behold, euery mans sworde was against his fellow, and there was a very great discomfiture.
Und Saul und alles Volk, das bei ihm war, versammelten sich, und sie kamen zum Streit; und siehe, da war das Schwert des einen wider den anderen, eine sehr große Verwirrung.
21 Moreouer, the Ebrewes that were with the Philistims beforetime, and were come with them into all partes of the hoste, euen they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Ionathan.
Und es waren Hebräer bei den Philistern, wie früher, welche mit ihnen in das Lager ringsum hinaufgezogen waren; auch sie wandten sich, um mit Israel zu sein, [So die Alexandr. Übersetzung. Der hebräische Text lautet: hinaufgezogen waren ringsum: und auch sie, um mit Israel zu sein] das mit Saul und Jonathan war.
22 Also all the men of Israel which had hid themselues in mount Ephraim, when they heard, that the Philistims were fled, they followed after them in the battell.
Und alle Männer von Israel, die sich im Gebirge Ephraim versteckt hatten, hörten, daß die Philister geflohen waren; und auch sie setzten ihnen nach im Streit.
23 And so the Lord saued Israel that day: and the battell continued vnto Beth-auen.
So rettete Jehova Israel an selbigem Tage. Und der Streit ging über Beth-Awen hinaus.
24 And at that time the men of Israel were pressed with hunger: for Saul charged the people with an othe, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth foode till night, that I may be auenged of mine enemies: so none of the people tasted any sustenance.
Die Männer von Israel waren aber sehr angestrengt an jenem Tage; und Saul beschwor das Volk und sprach: Verflucht sei der Mann, der Speise essen wird bis zum Abend, und bis ich mich an meinen Feinden gerächt habe! Und das ganze Volk kostete keine Speise.
25 And all they of the land came to a wood, where hony lay vpon the ground.
Und das ganze Volk [W. das ganze Land] kam in den Wald, und Honig war auf der Fläche des Feldes.
26 And the people came into the wood, and beholde, the hony dropped, and no man mooued his hand to his mouth: for the people feared the othe.
Und als das Volk in den Wald kam: siehe da, ein Strom von Honig; aber niemand brachte seine Hand zu seinem Munde, denn das Volk fürchtete den Schwur.
27 But Ionathan heard not when his father charged the people with the othe: wherefore he put foorth the ende of the rod that was in his hand, and dipt it in an hony combe, and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes receiued sight.
Jonathan aber hatte es nicht gehört, als sein Vater das Volk beschwor; und er streckte das Ende seines Stabes [O. Spießes] aus, der in seiner Hand war, und tauchte ihn in den Honigseim und brachte seine Hand wieder zu seinem Munde, und seine Augen wurden hell.
28 Then answered one of the people, and said, Thy father made the people to sweare, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth sustenance this day: and the people were faint.
Und einer von dem Volke hob an und sprach: Dein Vater hat das Volk feierlich beschworen und gesagt: Verflucht sei der Mann, der heute Speise essen wird! und so ist das Volk ermattet. [O. und doch war das Volk ermattet]
29 Then said Ionathan, My father hath troubled the land: see nowe howe mine eyes are made cleare, because I haue tasted a litle of this honie:
Und Jonathan sprach: Mein Vater hat das Land in Trübsal gebracht; sehet doch, daß meine Augen hell geworden sind, weil ich ein wenig von diesem Honig gekostet habe.
30 Howe much more, if the people had eaten to day of the spoyle of their enemies which they found? for had there not bene nowe a greater slaughter among the Philistims?
Was wäre es gewesen, wenn das Volk heute ungehindert von der Beute seiner Feinde gegessen hätte, die es gefunden hat! denn wäre dann nicht [O. wenn nun gar das Volk, wäre denn nicht jetzt usw.] die Niederlage der Philister [O. unter den Philistern] groß gewesen?
31 And they smote the Philistims that day, from Michmash to Aiialon: and the people were exceeding faint.
Und sie schlugen die Philister an jenem Tage von Mikmas bis nach Ajjalon; und das Volk war sehr ermattet.
32 So the people turned to the spoile, and tooke sheepe, and oxen, and calues, and slewe them on the ground, and the people did eate them with the blood.
Und das Volk fiel über die Beute her, und sie nahmen Kleinvieh und Rinder und Kälber und schlachteten sie auf die Erde hin; und das Volk aß mit dem Blute.
33 Then men tolde Saul, saying, Beholde, the people sinne against the Lord, in that they eate with the blood. And he saide, Ye haue trespassed: roule a great stone vnto me this day.
Und man berichtete es Saul und sprach: Siehe, das Volk sündigt gegen Jehova, indem es mit dem Blute ißt. Und er sprach: Ihr habt treulos gehandelt! Wälzet sofort einen großen Stein zu mir her.
34 Againe Saul said, Goe abroade among the people, and bid them bring me euery man his oxe, and euery man his sheepe, and slay them here, and eate and sinne not against the Lord in eating with the blood. And ye people brought euery man his oxe in his hand that night, and slew them there.
Und Saul sprach: Zerstreuet euch unter das Volk und sprechet zu ihnen: Bringet her zu mir, ein jeder sein Rind und ein jeder sein Kleinvieh, und schlachtet sie hier und esset; und sündiget nicht gegen Jehova, indem ihr mit dem Blute esset. Und in jener Nacht brachte das ganze Volk ein jeder sein Rind an seiner Hand; und sie schlachteten sie daselbst.
35 Then Saul made an altar vnto the Lord, and that was the first altar that he made vnto the Lord.
Und Saul baute Jehova einen Altar; mit diesem fing er an, Jehova einen Altar zu bauen.
36 And Saul saide, Let vs goe downe after the Philistims by night, and spoyle them vntill the morning shine, and let vs not leaue a man of them. And they saide, Doe whatsoeuer thou thinkest best. Then saide the Priest, Let vs drawe neere hither vnto God.
Und Saul sprach: Laßt uns bei der Nacht hinabziehen, den Philistern nach, und unter ihnen plündern, bis der Morgen hell wird, und keinen Mann unter ihnen übriglassen! Und sie sprachen: Tue alles, was gut ist in deinen Augen. Und der Priester sprach: Laßt uns hier zu Gott nahen!
37 So Saul asked of God, saying, Shall I goe downe after ye Philistims? wilt thou deliuer them into the hands of Israel? But he answered him not at that time.
Und Saul fragte Gott: Soll ich hinabziehen, den Philistern nach? wirst du sie in die Hand Israels geben? Aber er antwortete ihm nicht an jenem Tage.
38 And Saul said, All ye chiefe of the people, come ye hither, and knowe, and see by whom this sinne is done this day.
Da sprach Saul: Tretet hierher, alle Häupter des Volkes, und erkennet und sehet, wodurch [And. l.: durch wen] diese Sünde heute geschehen ist.
39 For as the Lord liueth, which saueth Israel, though it be done by Ionathan my sonne, he shall dye the death. But none of all the people answered him.
Denn so wahr Jehova lebt, der Israel gerettet hat, wenn sie an meinem Sohne Jonathan wäre, so sollte er gewißlich sterben! Und niemand antwortete ihm aus dem ganzen Volke.
40 Then he saide vnto all Israel, Be ye on one side, and I and Ionathan my sonne will be on the other side. And the people saide vnto Saul, Doe what thou thinkest best.
Und er sprach zu dem ganzen Israel: Seid ihr auf der einen Seite, und ich und mein Sohn Jonathan wollen auf der anderen Seite sein. Und das Volk sprach zu Saul: Tue, was gut ist in deinen Augen.
41 Then Saul said vnto the Lord God of Israel, Giue a perfite lot. And Ionathan and Saul were taken, but the people escaped.
Und Saul sprach zu Jehova, dem Gott Israels: Gib ein vollkommenes Los! [O. Gib Wahrheit!] Und Jonathan und Saul wurden getroffen, und das Volk ging frei aus.
42 And Saul saide, Cast lot betweene me and Ionathan my sonne. And Ionathan was taken.
Und Saul sprach: Werfet das Los zwischen mir und meinem Sohne Jonathan! Und Jonathan wurde getroffen.
43 Then Saul said to Ionathan, Tell me what thou hast done. And Ionathan tolde him, and said, I tasted a litle hony with the ende of the rod, that was in mine hand, and loe, I must die.
Da sprach Saul zu Jonathan: Tue mir kund, was du getan hast. Und Jonathan tat es ihm kund und sprach: Mit dem Ende des Stabes, der in meiner Hand war, habe ich ein wenig Honig nur gekostet: Siehe, ich muß sterben!
44 Againe Saul answered, God doe so and more also, vnlesse thou die the death, Ionathan.
Und Saul sprach: So tue mir Gott, und so füge er hinzu, du mußt gewißlich sterben, Jonathan!
45 And the people said vnto Saul, Shall Ionathan die, who hath so mightily deliuered Israel? God forbid. As the Lord liueth, there shall not one heare of his head fall to the ground: for he hath wrought with God this day. So the people deliuered Ionathan that he dyed not.
Aber das Volk sprach zu Saul: Sollte Jonathan sterben, der diese große Rettung [O. diesen großen Sieg] in Israel geschafft hat? Das sei ferne! So wahr Jehova lebt, wenn von den Haaren seines Hauptes eines auf die Erde fällt! denn er hat mit Gott gehandelt an diesem Tage. So erlöste das Volk Jonathan, daß er nicht starb.
46 Then Saul came vp from the Philistims: and the Philistims went to their owne place.
Und Saul zog von der Verfolgung der Philister herauf, und die Philister zogen an ihren Ort.
47 So Saul helde the kingdome ouer Israel, and fought against all his enemies on euery side, against Moab, and against the children of Ammon, and against Edom, and against the Kings of Zobah, and against the Philistims: and whithersoeuer he went, he handled them as wicked men.
Und Saul nahm das Königtum ein über Israel; und er stritt ringsum wider alle seine Feinde, wider Moab und wider die Kinder Ammon und wider Edom und wider die Könige von Zoba und wider die Philister; und überall, wohin er sich wandte, übte er Strafe. [And. l.: siegte er]
48 He gathered also an hoste and smote Amalek, and deliuered Israel out of the handes of them that spoyled them.
Und er tat Mächtiges und schlug Amalek, und errettete Israel aus der Hand seines Plünderers.
49 Nowe the sonnes of Saul were Ionathan, and Ishui, and Malchishua: and the names of his two daughters, the elder was called Merab, and the yonger was named Michal.
Und die Söhne Sauls waren: Jonathan und Jischwi und Malkischua. Und die Namen seiner zwei Töchter: der Name der erstgeborenen war Merab, und der Name der jüngeren Michal.
50 And the name of Sauls wife was Ahinoam the daughter of Ahimaaz: and the name of his chiefe captaine was Abner the sonne of Ner, Sauls vncle.
Und der Name des Weibes Sauls war Achinoam, die Tochter Achimaaz. Und der Name seines Heerobersten war Abner, der Sohn Ners, des Oheims Sauls;
51 And Kish was Sauls father: and Ner the father of Abner was the sonne of Abiel.
denn Kis, der Vater Sauls, und Ner, der Vater Abners, waren Söhne Abiels.
52 And there was sore warre against the Philistims all the dayes of Saul: and whomsoeuer Saul sawe to be a strong man, and meete for the warre, he tooke him vnto him.
Und der Streit war heftig wider die Philister alle Tage Sauls; und wenn Saul irgend einen streitbaren Mann und irgend einen Tapferen sah, so gesellte er ihn sich zu.
