1 Samuel 11
1 Then Nahash the Ammonite came vp, and besieged Iabesh Gilead: and all the men of Iabesh saide vnto Nahash, Make a couenant with vs, and we will be thy seruants.
௧அந்தக் காலத்தில் நாகாஸ் என்னும் அம்மோனியன் வந்து, கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற யாபேசை முற்றுகையிட்டான்; அப்பொழுது யாபேசின் மனிதர்கள் எல்லோரும் நாகாசை நோக்கி: எங்களோடு உடன்படிக்கைசெய்துகொள்; அப்பொழுது உமக்கு பணிவிடை செய்வோம் என்றார்கள்.
2 And Nahash ye Ammonite answered them, On this condition will I make a couenant with you, that I may thrust out all your right eies, and bring that shame vpon all Israel.
௨அதற்கு அம்மோனியனாகிய நாகாஸ்: நான் உங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவருடைய வலது கண்ணையும் பிடுங்கி, இதினாலே இஸ்ரவேல் எல்லாவற்றின்மேலும் நிந்தைவரசெய்வதே நான் உங்களோடு செய்யும் உடன்படிக்கை என்றான்.
3 To whome the Elders of Iabesh said, Giue vs seuen daies respet, that we may sende messengers vnto all the coastes of Israel: and then if no man deliuer vs, we will come out to thee.
௩அதற்கு யாபேசின் மூப்பர்கள்: நாங்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் நாடெங்கும் தூதுவர்களை அனுப்பும்படியாக, ஏழு நாள் எங்களுக்குத் தவணைகொடும், எங்களை காப்பாற்றுகிறவர்கள் இல்லாவிட்டால், அப்பொழுது உம்மிடத்தில் வருவோம் என்றார்கள்.
4 Then came the messengers to Gibeah of Saul, and tolde these tidings in the eares of the people: and all the people lift vp their voices and wept.
௪அந்தத் தூதுவர்கள் சவுலின் ஊராகிய கிபியாவிலே வந்து, மக்களின் காது கேட்க அந்தச் செய்திகளைச் சொன்னார்கள்; அப்பொழுது மக்களெல்லோரும் சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள்.
5 And behold, Saul came following the cattell out of the fielde, and Saul saide, What aileth this people, that they weepe? And they tolde him the tidings of the men of Iabesh.
௫இதோ, சவுல் மாடுகளின் பின்னாலே வயலிலிருந்து வந்து, மக்கள் அழுகிற காரணம் என்ன என்று கேட்டான்; யாபேசின் மனிதர்கள் சொல்லிய செய்திகளை அவனுக்குத் தெரிவித்தார்கள்.
6 Then the Spirit of God came vpon Saul, when he heard those tidings, and he was exceeding angrie,
௬சவுல் இந்தச் செய்திகளைக் கேட்டவுடனே, தேவனுடைய ஆவி அவன்மேல் இறங்கியதால் அவன் மிகவும் கோபப்பட்டு,
7 And tooke a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coastes of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoeuer commeth not foorth after Saul, and after Samuel, so shall his oxen be serued. And the feare of the Lord fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
௭அவன் இரண்டு எருதுகளைப் பிடித்து, துண்டித்து அந்தத் தூதுவர்களின் கையிலே கொடுத்து, இஸ்ரவேலின் நாடுகளுக்கெல்லாம் அனுப்பி: சவுல் மற்றும் சாமுவேலின் பின்செல்லாதவன் எவனோ, அவனுடைய மாடுகளுக்கு இப்படியே செய்யப்படும் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினான்; அப்பொழுது யெகோவாவால் உண்டான பயங்கரம் மக்களின்மேல் வந்ததால், ஒருமனப்பட்டுப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தார்கள்.
8 And when he nombred them in Bezek, the children of Israel were three hundreth thousande men: and the men of Iudah thirtie thousand.
௮அவர்களைப் பேசேக்கிலே கணக்கிட்டுப் பார்த்தான்; இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களில் மூன்று லட்சம்பேரும், யூதா மனிதர்களில் முப்பதாயிரம்பேரும் இருந்தார்கள்.
9 Then they saide vnto the messengers that came, So say vnto the men of Iabesh Gilead, To morowe by then the sunne be hote, ye shall haue helpe. And the messengers came and shewed it to the men of Iabesh, which were glad.
௯அங்கே வந்த தூதுவர்களை அவர்கள் பார்த்து: நாளைக்கு வெயில் ஏறுகிறதற்கு முன்னே உங்களுக்கு மீட்புக் கிடைக்கும் என்று கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற யாபேசின் மனிதர்களுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்கள்; தூதுவர்கள் வந்து யாபேசின் மனிதர்களிடத்தில் அதை அறிவித்தார்கள்; அதற்கு அவர்கள் சந்தோஷப்பட்டார்கள்.
10 Therefore the men of Iabesh sayde, To morowe we will come out vnto you, and yee shall doe with vs all that pleaseth you.
௧0பின்பு யாபேசின் மனிதர்கள்: நாளைக்கு உங்களிடத்தில் வருவோம், அப்பொழுது உங்கள் விருப்பத்தின்படி எங்களுக்குச் செய்யுங்கள் என்றார்கள்.
11 And when the morowe was come, Saul put the people in three bandes, and they came in vpon the hoste in the morning watche, and slewe the Ammonites vntill the heate of the day: and they that remained, were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
௧௧மறுநாளிலே சவுல் மக்களை மூன்று படைகளாக பிரித்து, விடியற்காலையில் முகாமிற்குள் வந்து வெயில் ஏறும்வரைக்கும் அம்மோனியர்களை முறியடித்தான்; தப்பினவர்களில் இருவர் இருவராக சேர்ந்து ஓடிப்போகாதபடி எல்லோரும் சிதறிப்போனார்கள்.
12 Then the people said vnto Samuel, Who is he that saide, Shall Saul reigne ouer vs? bring those men that we may slaie them.
௧௨அப்பொழுது மக்கள் சாமுவேலைப் பார்த்து: சவுலா நமக்கு ராஜாவாக இருக்கப்போகிறவன் என்று சொன்னவர்கள் யார்? அந்த மனிதனை நாங்கள் கொல்லும்படி ஒப்புக்கொடுங்கள் என்றார்கள்.
13 But Saul said, There shall no man die this day: for to day the Lord hath saued Israel.
௧௩அதற்குச் சவுல்: இன்றையதினம் ஒருவரும் கொல்லப்படக்கூடாது; இன்று யெகோவா இஸ்ரவேலர்களுக்கு மீட்பைக் கொடுத்தார் என்றான்.
14 Then saide Samuel vnto ye people, Come, that we may goe to Gilgal, and renue the kingdome there.
௧௪அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் மக்களைப் பார்த்து: நாம் கில்காலுக்குப் போய், அங்கே ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்துவோம் வாருங்கள் என்றான்.
15 So all the people went to Gilgal, and made Saul King there before the Lord in Gilgal: and there they offered peace offerings before the Lord: and there Saul and all the men of Israel reioyced exceedingly.
௧௫அப்படியே மக்கள் எல்லோரும் கில்காலுக்குப் போய், அந்த இடத்திலே யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக சவுலை ராஜாவாக ஏற்படுத்தி, அங்கே யெகோவாவுக்கு முன்பாக சமாதானபலிகளைச் செலுத்தி, அங்கே சவுலும் இஸ்ரவேல் மனிதர்கள் அனைவரும் மிகவும் சந்தோஷப்பட்டார்கள்.
