1 Kings 1
1 Now when King Dauid was olde, and striken in yeeres, they couered him with clothes, but no heate came vnto him.
Ora il re Davide era vecchio e molto attempato; e, per quanto lo coprissero di panni, non potea riscaldarsi.
2 Wherefore his seruants saide vnto him, Let there be sought for my lord ye King a yong virgin, and let her stand before the king, and cherish him: and let her lie in thy bosome, that my lord the King may get heate.
Perciò i suoi servi gli dissero: “Si cerchi per il re nostro signore una fanciulla vergine, la quale stia al servizio del re, n’abbia cura, e dorma fra le sue braccia, sì che il re nostro signore possa riscaldarsi”.
3 So they sought for a faire young maide thoroughout all the coastes of Israel, and founde one Abishag a Shunamite, and brought her to the king.
Cercaron dunque per tutto il paese d’Israele una bella fanciulla; trovarono Abishag, la Sunamita, e la menarono al re.
4 And the maid was exceeding faire, and cherished the king, and ministred to him, but the King knew her not.
La fanciulla era bellissima, avea cura del re, e lo serviva; ma il re non la conobbe.
5 Then Adoniiah the sonne of Haggith exalted himselfe, saying, I will be king. And he gate him charets and horsemen, and fiftie men to run before him.
Or Adonija, figliuolo di Hagghith, mosso dall’ambizione, diceva: “Sarò io il re!” E si preparò de’ carri, de’ cavalieri, e cinquanta uomini che corressero dinanzi a lui.
6 And his father would not displease him from his childehood, to say, Why hast thou done so? And hee was a very goodly man, and his mother bare him next after Absalom.
Suo padre non gli avea mai fatto un rimprovero in vita sua, dicendogli: “Perché fai così?” Adonija era anch’egli di bellissimo aspetto, ed era nato subito dopo Absalom.
7 And he tooke counsel of Ioab the sonne of Zeruiah, and of Abiathar the Priest: and they helped forward Adoniiah.
Egli si abboccò con Joab, figliuolo di Tseruia, e col sacerdote Abiathar, i quali seguirono il suo partito e lo favorirono.
8 But Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and Nathan the Prophet, and Shimei, and Rei, and the men of might, which were with Dauid, were not with Adoniiah.
Ma il sacerdote Tsadok, Benaia figliuolo di Jehoiada, il profeta Nathan, Scimei, Rei e gli uomini prodi di Davide non erano per Adonija.
9 Then Adoniiah sacrificed sheepe and oxen, and fat cattel by the stone of Zoheleth, which is by En-rogel, and called all his brethren the kings sonnes, and al the men of Iudah ye Kings seruants,
Adonija immolò pecore, buoi e vitelli grassi vicino al masso di Zohelet che è accanto alla fontana di Roghel, e invitò tutti i suoi fratelli, figliuoli del re, e tutti gli uomini di Giuda ch’erano al servizio del re;
10 But Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah, and the mightie men, and Salomon his brother hee called not.
ma non invitò il profeta Nathan, né Benaia, né gli uomini prodi, né Salomone suo fratello.
11 Wherefore Nathan spake vnto Bath-sheba the mother of Salomon, saying, Hast thou not heard, that Adoniiah ye sonne of Haggith doeth reigne, and Dauid our lord knoweth it not?
Allora Nathan parlò a Bath-Sceba, madre di Salomone, e le disse: “Non hai udito che Adonija, figliuolo di Hagghith, è diventato re senza che Davide nostro signore ne sappia nulla?
12 Now therefore come, and I will now giue thee counsell, howe to saue thine owne life, and the life of thy sonne Salomon.
Or dunque vieni, e permetti ch’io ti dia un consiglio, affinché tu salvi la vita tua e quella del tuo figliuolo Salomone.
13 Go, and get thee in vnto King Dauid, and say vnto him, Didest not thou, my lorde, O King, sweare vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne? why is then Adoniiah King?
Va’, entra dal re Davide, e digli: O re, mio signore, non giurasti tu alla tua serva, dicendo: Salomone, tuo figliuolo, regnerà dopo di me e sederà sul mio trono? Perché dunque regna Adonija?
14 Behold, while thou yet talkest there with the King, I also will come in after thee, and confirme thy wordes.
Ed ecco che mentre tu starai ancora quivi parlando col re, io entrerò dopo di te, e confermerò le tue parole”.
15 So Bath-sheba went in vnto the King into the chamber, and the King was verie olde, and Abishag the Shunammite ministred vnto ye King.
Bath-Sceba entrò dunque nella camera del re. Il re era molto vecchio, e Abishag, la Sunamita, lo serviva.
16 And Bath-sheba bowed and made obeisance vnto the King. And the King saide, What is thy matter?
Bath-Sceba s’inchinò e si prostrò davanti al re. E il re disse: “Che vuoi?”
17 And shee answered him, My lorde, thou swarest by the Lord thy God vnto thine handmaide, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and he shall sit vpon my throne.
Essa gli rispose: “Signor mio, tu alla tua serva, giurasti per l’Eterno ch’è il tuo Dio, dicendo: Salomone, tuo figliuolo, regnerà dopo di me e sederà sul mio trono;
18 And beholde, nowe is Adoniiah king, and now, my lord, O King, thou knowest it not.
e intanto, ecco che Adonija è diventato re senza che tu, o re mio signore, ne sappia nulla.
19 And he hath offred many oxen, and fatte cattel, and sheepe, and hath called all the sonnes of the King, and Abiathar the Priest, and Ioab the captaine of the hoste: but Salomon thy seruant hath he not bidden.
Ed ha immolato buoi, vitelli grassi, e pecore in gran numero, ed ha invitato tutti i figliuoli del re e il sacerdote Abiathar e Joab, il capo dell’esercito, ma non ha invitato il tuo servo Salomone.
20 And thou, my lorde, O King, knowest that the eyes of all Israel are on thee, that thou shouldest tell them, who shoulde sit on the throne of my lord the King after him.
Ora gli occhi di tutto Israele son rivolti verso di te, o re mio signore, perché tu gli dichiari chi debba sedere sul trono del re mio signore, dopo di lui.
21 For els when my lord the King shall sleepe with his fathers, I and my sonne Salomon shalbe reputed vile.
Altrimenti avverrà che, quando il re mio signore giacerà coi suoi padri, io e il mio figliuolo Salomone sarem trattati come colpevoli”.
22 And lo, while she yet talked with the King, Nathan also the Prophet came in.
Mentr’ella parlava ancora col re, ecco arrivare il profeta Nathan.
23 And they tolde the King, saying, Beholde, Nathan the Prophet. And when he was come in to the King, hee made obeisance before the King vpon his face to the ground.
La cosa fu riferita al re, dicendo: “Ecco il profeta Nathan!” E questi venne in presenza del re, e gli si prostrò dinanzi con la faccia a terra.
24 And Nathan saide, My lorde, O King, hast thou said, Adoniiah shall reigne after mee, and he shall sit vpon my throne?
Nathan disse: “O re, mio signore, hai tu detto: Adonija regnerà dopo di me e sederà sul mio trono?
25 For hee is gone downe this day, and hath slaine many oxen, and fat cattel, and sheepe, and hath called al the Kings sonnes, and the captaines of the hoste, and Abiathar the Priest: and behold, they eate and drinke before him, and say, God saue King Adoniiah.
Giacché oggi egli è sceso, ha immolato buoi, vitelli grassi, e pecore in gran numero, ed ha invitato tutti i figliuoli del re, i capi dell’esercito e il sacerdote Abiathar; ed ecco che mangiano e bevono davanti a lui, e dicono: Viva il re Adonija!
26 But me thy seruant, and Zadok the Priest, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and thy seruant Salomon hath he not called.
Ma egli non ha invitato me, tuo servo, né il sacerdote Tsadok, né Benaia figliuolo di Jehoiada, né Salomone tuo servo.
27 Is this thing done by my lord the King, and thou hast not shewed it vnto thy seruant, who should sitte on the throne of my lorde the King after him?
Questa cosa è ella proprio stata fatta dal re mio signore, senza che tu abbia dichiarato al tuo servo chi sia quegli che deve sedere sul trono del re mio signore dopo di lui?”
28 Then King Dauid answered, and saide, Call me Bath-sheba. And shee came into ye Kings presence, and stoode before the King.
Il re Davide, rispondendo, disse: “Chiamatemi Bath-Sceba”. Ella entrò alla presenza del re, e si tenne in piedi davanti a lui.
29 And the King sware, saying, As the Lord liueth, who hath redeemed my soule out of all aduersitie,
E il re giurò e disse: “Com’è vero che vive l’Eterno il quale ha liberato l’anima mia da ogni distretta,
30 That as I sware vnto thee by the Lord God of Israel, saying, Assuredly Salomon thy sonne shall reigne after me, and hee shall sit vpon my throne in my place, so will I certainely doe this day.
io farò oggi quel che ti giurai per l’Eterno, per l’Iddio d’Israele, dicendo: Salomone tuo figliuolo regnerà dopo di me e sederà sul mio trono in vece mia”.
31 Then Bath-sheba bowed her face to the earth, and did reuerence vnto the King, and said, God saue my lord King Dauid for euer.
Bath-Sceba s’inchinò con la faccia a terra, si prostrò dinanzi al re, e disse: “Possa il re Davide mio signore vivere in perpetuo!”
32 And King Dauid saide, Call mee Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada. And they came before the King.
Poi il re Davide disse: “Chiamatemi il sacerdote Tsadok, il profeta Nathan e Benaia, figliuolo di Jehoiada”. Essi vennero in presenza del re, e il re disse loro:
33 Then the King said vnto them, Take with you the seruants of your lorde, and cause Salomon my sonne to ride vpon mine owne mule, and carie him downe to Gihon.
“Prendete con voi i servi del vostro signore, fate montare Salomone mio figliuolo sulla mia mula, e menatelo giù a Ghihon.
34 And let Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anoint him there King ouer Israel, and blowe ye the trumpet, and say, God saue king Salomon.
E quivi il sacerdote Tsadok e il profeta Nathan lo ungano re d’Israele. Poi sonate la tromba e dite: Viva il re Salomone!
35 Then come vp after him, that hee may come and sit vpon my throne: and hee shall bee King in my steade: for I haue appointed him to be prince ouer Israel and ouer Iudah.
Voi risalirete al suo séguito, ed egli verrà, si porrà a sedere sul mio trono, e regnerà in mia vece. Io costituisco lui come principe d’Israele e di Giuda”.
36 Then Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada answered the King, and said, So be it, and the Lord God of my lord the King ratifie it.
Benaia, figliuolo di Jehoiada, rispose al re: “Amen! Così voglia l’Eterno, l’Iddio del re mio signore!
37 As the Lord hath bene with my lorde the King, so be he with Salomon, and exalt his throne aboue the throne of my lorde king Dauid.
Come l’Eterno è stato col re mio signore, così sia con Salomone, e innalzi il suo trono al di sopra del trono del re Davide, mio signore!”
38 So Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites went downe and caused Salomon to ride vpon king Dauids mule, and brought him to Gihon.
Allora il sacerdote Tsadok, il profeta Nathan, Benaia figliuolo di Jehoiada, i Kerethei e i Pelethei scesero, fecero montare Salomone sulla mula del re Davide, e lo menarono a Ghihon.
39 And Zadok the Priest tooke an horne of oyle out of the Tabernacle, and anointed Salomon: and they blewe the trumpet, and all the people said, God saue king Salomon.
Il sacerdote Tsadok prese il corno dell’olio dal tabernacolo e unse Salomone. Sonaron la tromba, e tutto il popolo disse: “Viva il re Salomone!”
40 And all the people came vp after him, and the people piped with pipes, and reioyced with great ioye, so that the earth rang with the sound of them.
E tutto il popolo risalì al suo séguito sonando flauti e abbandonandosi a una gran gioia, si che la terra rimbombava delle loro grida.
41 And Adoniiah and all the ghestes that were with him, heard it: (and they had made an ende of eating) and when Ioab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, What meaneth this noise and vprore in the citie?
Adonija e tutti i suoi convitati, come stavano per finir di mangiare, udirono questo rumore; e quando Joab udì il suon della tromba, disse: “Che vuol dire questo strepito della città in tumulto?”
42 And as he yet spake, beholde, Ionathan the sonne of Abiathar the Priest came: and Adoniiah said, Come in: for thou art a worthie man, and bringest good tidings.
E mentre egli parlava ancora, ecco giungere Gionathan, figliuolo del sacerdote Abiathar. Adonija gli disse: “Entra, poiché tu sei un uomo di valore, e devi recar buone novelle”.
43 And Ionathan answered, and said to Adoniiah, Verely our lord King Dauid hath made Salomon King.
E Gionathan, rispondendo a Adonija, disse: “Tutt’altro! Il re Davide, nostro signore, ha fatto re Salomone.
44 And the King hath sent with him Zadok the Priest, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaiah the sonne of Iehoiada, and the Cherethites, and the Pelethites, and they haue caused him to ride vpon the Kings mule.
Egli ha mandato con lui il sacerdote Tsadok, il profeta Nathan, Benaia figliuolo di Jehoiada, i Kerethei e i Pelethei, i quali l’hanno fatto montare sulla mula del re.
45 And Zadok the Priest, and Nathan ye Prophet haue anointed him King in Gihon: and they are gone vp from thence with ioy, and the citie is moued: this is the noise that ye haue heard.
Il sacerdote Tsadok e il profeta Nathan l’hanno unto re a Ghihon, e di là son risaliti abbandonandosi alla gioia, e la città n’è tutta sossopra. Questo è lo strepito che avete udito.
46 And Salomon also sitteth on the throne of the kingdome.
E c’è di più: Salomone s’è posto a sedere sul trono reale.
47 And moreouer the Kings seruantes came to blesse our lord King Dauid, saying, God make the name of Salomon more famous then thy name, and exalt his throne aboue thy throne: therefore the King worshipped vpon the bed.
E i servi del re son venuti a benedire il re Davide signor nostro, dicendo: Renda Iddio il nome di Salomone più glorioso del tuo, e innalzi il suo trono al di sopra del tuo! E il re si è prostrato sul suo letto, poi il re ha detto così:
48 And thus sayd the King also, Blessed bee the Lord God of Israel, who hath made one to sit on my throne this day, euen in my sight.
Benedetto sia l’Eterno, l’Iddio d’Israele, che m’ha dato oggi uno che segga sui mio trono, e m’ha permesso di vederlo coi miei propri occhi!”
49 Then all the ghestes that were with Adonijah, were afraide, and rose vp, and went euery man his way.
Allora tutti i convitati di Adonija furono presi da spavento, si alzarono, e se ne andarono ciascuno per il suo cammino.
50 And Adonijah fearing the presence of Salomon, arose and went, and tooke holde on the hornes of the altar.
E Adonija, avendo timore di Salomone, si levò e andò ad impugnare i corni dell’altare
51 And one tolde Salomon, saying, Beholde, Adonijah doeth feare King Salomon: for lo, he hath caught holde on the hornes of the altar, saying, Let King Salomon sweare vnto me this day, that he will not slay his seruant with the sword.
E vennero a dire a Salomone: “Ecco, Adonija ha timore del re Salomone, ed ha impugnato i corni dell’altare, dicendo: Il re Salomone mi giuri oggi che non farà morir di spada il suo servo”.
52 Then Salomon sayd, If he will shewe him selfe a worthy man, there shall not an heare of him fall to the earth, but if wickednes be found in him, he shall dye.
Salomone rispose: “S’egli si addimostra uomo dabbene, non cadrà in terra neppure uno dei suoi capelli; ma, se sarà trovato in fallo, morrà”.
53 Then King Salomon sent, and they brought him from the altar, and he came and did obeisance vnto King Salomon. And Salomon sayde vnto him, Go to thine house.
E il re Salomone mandò gente a farlo scendere dall’altare. Ed egli venne a prostrarsi davanti al re Salomone; e Salomone gli disse: “Vattene a casa tua”.
