1 Kings 9

1 When Salomon had finished the building of the house of ye Lord, and the kings palace, and all that Salomon desired and minded to do,

Cuando Salomón hubo terminado de construir la Casa de Yahvé, la casa del rey y todo lo que deseaba hacer según sus designios,

2 Then the Lord appeared vnto Salomon the second time, as he appeared vnto him at Gibeon.

se apareció Yahvé a Salomón por segunda vez, como se le había aparecido en Gabaón;

3 And the Lord sayd vnto him, I haue heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I haue halowed this house (which thou hast built) to put my Name there for euer, and mine eyes, and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

y le dijo Yahvé: “He oído tu oración y tu súplica que has proferido delante de Mí. He santificado esta Casa que has edificado, para poner allí mi Nombre para siempre, y mis ojos y mi corazón estarán allí en todo tiempo.

4 And if thou wilt walke before mee (as Dauid thy father walked in purenesse of heart and in righteousnesse) to doe according to al that I haue commanded thee, and keepe my statutes, and my iudgements,

Si tú andas en mi presencia como anduvo David, tu padre, con sinceridad de corazón y con rectitud, haciendo todo lo que te tengo mandado, y guardando mis mandamientos y mis preceptos,

5 Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdome vpon Israel for euer, as I promised to Dauid thy father, saying, Thou shalt not want a man vpon the throne of Israel.

aseguraré el trono de tu reino sobre Israel para siempre, según prometí a tu padre David, diciendo: «Nunca te faltará varón sobre el trono de Israel.»

6 But if ye and your children turne away from mee, and wil not keepe my commandements, and my statutes (which I haue set before you) but go and serue other gods, and worship them,

Pero, si vosotros y vuestros hijos os apartáis de Mí, y no guardáis mis leyes y mis mandamientos, que he puesto delante de vosotros, y os vais a servir a otros dioses, postrándoos ante ellos,

7 Then will I cutte off Israel from the lande, which I haue giuen them, and the house which I haue halowed for my Name, will I cast out of my sight, and Israel shall be a prouerbe, and a common talke among all people.

extirparé a Israel de la tierra que les he dado; y esta Casa que he santificado para mi Nombre, la echaré lejos de mi vista. Israel vendrá a ser objeto de proverbio y burla entre todos los pueblos;

8 Euen this hie house shall bee so: euery one that passeth by it, shalbe astonied, and shall hisse, and they shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus vnto this land and to this house?

y esta Casa será reducida a ruinas, y cuantos pasaren junto a ella se pasmarán y silbarán, diciendo: «¿Por qué ha tratado así Yahvé a esta tierra y a esta Casa?»

9 And they shall answere, Because they forsooke the Lord their God, which brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and haue taken holde vpon other gods, and haue worshipped them, and serued them, therfore hath the Lord brought vpon them all this euill.

Y se les contestará: «Porque abandonaron a Yahvé, su Dios, que sacó a sus padres del país de Egipto y se adhirieron a otros dioses, postrándose ante ellos y dándoles culto; por eso ha descargado Yahvé sobre ellos todos estos males».”

10 And at the ende of twentie yeeres, when Salomon had buylded the two houses, the house of the Lord, and the Kings palace,

Al fin de los veinte años que Salomón empleó para edificar las dos casas, la Casa de Yahvé y la casa del rey,

11 (For the which Hiram the King of Tyrus had brought to Salomon timber of cedar, and firre trees, and golde, and whatsoeuer he desired) then King Salomon gaue to Hiram twentie cities in the land of Galil.

para las cuales Hiram, rey de Tiro, había dado a Salomón maderas de cedro y de ciprés y oro, accediendo a todos sus deseos, el rey Salomón dio a Hiram veinte ciudades en la tierra de Galilea.

12 And Hiram came out from Tyrus to see the cities which Salomon had giuen him, and they pleased him not.

Salió, pues, Hiram de Tiro para ver las ciudades que le había dado Salomón, y no le gustaron.

13 Therefore hee sayde, What cities are these which thou hast giuen me, my brother? And hee called them the land of Cabul vnto this day.

Por lo cual dijo: “¿Estas son las ciudades que me has dado, hermano mío?” Y las llamó Tierra de Cabul (nombre que llevan) hasta hoy día.

14 And Hiram had sent the King sixe score talents of gold.

Es de saber que Hiram había enviado al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro.

15 And this is the cause of the tribute why King Salomon raised tribute, to wit, to builde the house of the Lord, and his owne house, and Millo, and the wall of Ierusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

He aquí la razón de las cargas que impuso el rey Salomón. Fue para edificar la Casa de Yahvé, su propia casa, el Milló, el muro de Jerusalén, y a Hasor, Megiddó y Guézer.

16 Pharaoh King of Egypt had come vp, and taken Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slew the Canaanites, that dwelt in the citie, and gaue it for a present vnto his daughter Salomons wife.

El Faraón, rey de Egipto, había subido, y después de tomar a Guézer, la había incendiado, matando a los cananeos que habitaban la ciudad. Después la dio en dote a su hija, la mujer de Salomón.

17 (Therefore Salomon builte Gezer and Beth-horon the nether,

Salomón edificó a Guézer, Bet-horón de abajo,

18 And Baalath and Tamor in the wildernes of the land,

Baalat y Tadmor en el país del desierto,

19 And all the cities of store, that Salomon had, euen cities for charets, and cities for horsemen, and all that Salomon desired and woulde build in Ierusalem, and in Lebanon and in all the land of his dominion)

como también todas las ciudades de almacenes que tenía Salomón, como también las ciudades de los carros, y las ciudades de la caballería: en fin, todo cuanto Salomón gustó de edificar en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y en todo el territorio de su reino.

20 Al the people that were left of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hiuites, and Iebusites, which were not of the children of Israel:

Toda la gente que había quedado de los amorreos, de los heteos, de los fereceos, de los heveos y de los jebuseos, que no eran de los hijos de Israel

21 To wit, their children that were left after them in the lande, whome the children of Israel were not able to destroy, those did Salomon make tributaries vnto this day.

(es decir), los hijos de ellos que habían quedado en el país después de ellos, porque los hijos de Israel no pudieron exterminarlos, a estos hizo Salomón esclavos de trabajo hasta el día de hoy.

22 But of the children of Israel did Salomon make no bondmen: but they were men of warre and his seruants, and his princes, and his captaines, and rulers of his charets and his horsemen.

Salomón no sujetó a servidumbre a ninguno de los hijos de Israel, sino que ellos eran sus guerreros, sus dignatarios, sus jefes, sus capitanes y los comandantes de sus carros y de su caballería.

23 These were the princes of the officers, that were ouer Salomons worke: euen fiue hundreth and fiftie, and they ruled the people that wrought in the worke.

Los jefes que estaban al frente de las obras de Salomón, eran quinientos cincuenta. Estos dirigían a los obreros que trabajaban en la obra.

24 And Pharaohs daughter came vp from the citie of Dauid vnto the house which Salomon had built for her: then did he buylde Millo.

La hija del Faraón subió desde la ciudad de David a la casa, que (Salomón) le había edificado. En aquel tiempo edificó también el Millo.

25 And thrise a yere did Salomon offer burnt offringes and peace offrings vpon the altar which he built vnto the Lord: and hee burnt incense vpon the altar that was before the Lord, when hee had finished the house.

Tres veces al año ofrecía Salomón holocaustos y sacrificios pacíficos sobre el altar que había erigido a Yahvé, y quemaba incienso sobre el que estaba delante de Yahvé, después de quedar acabada la Casa.

26 Also King Salomon made a nauie of ships in Ezeon-geber, which is beside Eloth, and the brinke of the red Sea, in the land of Edom.

El rey Salomón construyó también una flota en Esionguéber, que está junto a Elat, sobre la orilla del Mar Rojo en el país de Edom.

27 And Hiram sent with the nauie his seruats, that were mariners, and had knowledge of the sea, with the seruants of Salomon.

Con esta flota envió Hiram a sus siervos, marinos peritos en la navegación, juntamente con los siervos de Salomón.

28 And they came to Ophir and sette from thence foure hundreth and twentie talents of gold, and brought it to King Salomon.

Y fueron a Ofir, de donde tomaron cuatrocientos veinte talentos de oro que trajeron al rey Salomón.
