1 Kings 3
1 Salomon then made affinitie with Pharaoh King of Egypt, and tooke Pharaohs daughter, and brought her into the citie of Dauid, vntill hee had made an ende of buylding his owne house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Ierusalem round about.
Y Salomón hizo parentesco con Faraón rey de Egipto, porque tomó por mujer la hija de Faraón, y trájola en la ciudad de David, entre tanto que acababa de edificar su casa, y la casa de Jehová, y los muros de Jerusalem al derredor.
2 Only the people sacrificed in the hie places, because there was no house buylt vnto the name of the Lord, vntill those dayes.
Hasta entonces el pueblo sacrificaba en los altos; porque aun no había casa edificada al nombre de Jehová hasta aquellos tiempos.
3 And Salomon loued the Lord, walking in the ordinances of Dauid his father: onely he sacrificed and offred incense in the hie places.
Mas Salomón amó a Jehová andando en la institución de su padre David, solamente sacrificaba, y quemaba olores en altos.
4 And the King went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the chiefe hie place: a thousand burnt offrings did Salomon offer vpon that altar.
E iba el rey a Gabaón, porque aquel era el alto principal, y sacrificaba allí: mil holocaustos sacrificaba Salomón sobre aquel altar.
5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Salomon in a dreame by night: and God sayd, Aske what I shall giue thee.
Y aparecióse Jehová a Salomón en Gabaón una noche en sueños, y dijo Dios: Pide lo que quisieres, que yo te dé.
6 And Salomon sayd, Thou hast shewed vnto thy seruant Dauid my father great mercie, when hee walked before thee in trueth, and in righteousnesse, and in vprightnes of heart with thee: and thou hast kept for him this great mercie, and hast giuen him a sonne, to sit on his throne, as appeareth this day.
Y Salomón dijo: Tú hiciste gran misericordia a tu siervo David mi padre, de la manera que él anduvo delante de ti con verdad, con justicia, y con rectitud de corazón para contigo: y tú le has guardado esta tu grande misericordia, que le diste un hijo que se asentase en su trono, como parece en este día.
7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy seruant King in steade of Dauid my father: and I am but a yong childe, and know not howe to go out and in.
Ahora pues, Jehová Dios mío, tú has puesto a mí tu siervo por rey en lugar de David mi padre: y yo soy mozo pequeño, que ni sé entrar, ni salir:
8 And thy seruant is in the mids of thy people, which thou hast chosen, euen a great people which cannot be told nor nobred for multitude.
Y tu siervo está en medio de tu pueblo, al cual tú elegiste: un pueblo grande, que ni se puede contar, ni numerar por su multitud.
9 Giue therefore vnto thy seruant an vnderstanding heart, to iudge thy people, that I may discerne betweene good and bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people?
Da pues a tu siervo corazón dócil para juzgar a tu pueblo: para entender entre lo bueno y lo malo: porque ¿quién podrá gobernar este tu pueblo tan grande?
10 And this pleased the Lord well, that Salomon had desired this thing.
Y agradó delante de Adonaí, que Salomón pidiese esto.
11 And God sayde vnto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thy selfe long life, neyther hast asked riches for thy selfe, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thy selfe vnderstanding to heare iudgement,
Y díjole Dios: Porque has demandado esto, y no pediste para ti muchos días, ni pediste para ti riquezas, ni pediste la vida de tus enemigos, mas demandaste para ti inteligencia para oír juicio:
12 Beholde, I haue done according to thy wordes: lo, I haue giuen thee a wise and an vnderstanding heart, so that there hath bene none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall arise the like vnto thee.
He aquí, yo lo he hecho conforme a tus palabras: he aquí que yo te he dado corazón sabio y entendido tanto, que no haya habido antes de ti otro como tú, ni después de ti se levante otro como tú.
13 And I haue also giuen thee that, which thou hast not asked, both riches and honour, so that among the Kings there shall be none like vnto thee all thy dayes.
Y aun también las cosas que no pediste, te he dado: riquezas y gloria, que entre los reyes ninguno haya como tú en todos tus días.
14 And if thou wilt walke in my wayes, to keepe mine ordinances and my commandements, as thy father Dauid did walke, I will prolong thy dayes.
Y si anduvieres en mis caminos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como tu padre David anduvo, yo alargaré tus días.
15 And when Salomon awoke, behold, it was a dreame, and he came to Ierusalem, and stoode before the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and offred burnt offrings and made peace offrings, and made a feast to all his seruants.
Y como Salomón despertó, vio que era sueño: y vino a Jerusalem, y presentóse delante del arca del concierto de Jehová, y sacrificó holocaustos, e hizo pacíficos: e hizo banquete a todos sus siervos.
16 Then came two harlots vnto the King, and stoode before him.
En aquella sazón vinieron dos mujeres rameras al rey, y presentáronse delante de él.
17 And the one woman sayd, Oh my lorde, I and this woman dwell in one house, and I was deliuered of a childe with her in the house.
Y dijo la una mujer: ¡Ay! señor mío, yo y esta mujer morábamos en una misma casa: y yo parí en casa con ella.
18 And the third day after that I was deliuered, this woman was deliuered also: and we were in the house together: no stranger was with vs in the house, saue we twaine.
Y aconteció, que al tercero día después que yo parí, esta parió también: y morábamos nosotras ambas, que ninguno de fuera estaba en casa, sino nosotras dos en una casa.
19 And this womans sonne died in the night: for she ouerlay him.
Y una noche el hijo de esta mujer murió, porque ella se acostó sobre él.
20 And she rose at midnight, and tooke my sonne from my side, while thine handmaide slept, and layde him in her bosome, and layde her dead sonne in my bosome.
Y esta se levantó a media noche, y tomóme mi hijo de junto a mí, estando yo tu sierva durmiendo, y púsole a su lado, y púsome a mi lado su hijo muerto.
21 And when I rose in the morning to giue my sonne sucke, beholde, he was dead: and when I had well considered him in the morning, beholde, it was not my sonne, whom I had borne.
Y como yo me levanté por la mañana para dar el pecho a mi hijo, he aquí que estaba muerto. Y yo le miré por la mañana, y, he aquí que no era mi hijo, que yo había parido.
22 Then the other woman sayd, Nay, but my sonne liueth, and thy sonne is dead. Againe she sayde, No, but thy sonne is dead, and mine aliue: thus they spake before the King.
Entonces la otra mujer dijo: No: mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto. Y la otra volvió a decir: No: tu hijo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive. Y de esta manera hablaban delante del rey.
23 Then sayde the King, She sayth, This that liueth is my sonne, and the dead is thy sonne: and the other sayth, Nay, but the dead is thy sonne, and the liuing is my sonne.
El rey entonces dijo: Esta dice: Mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto. Y la otra dice: No, mas el tuyo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive.
24 Then the King said, Bring me a sworde: and they brought out a sworde before the King.
Entonces dijo el rey: Traédme una espada: y trajeron al rey una espada.
25 And the King sayde, Deuide ye the liuing child in twaine, and giue the one halfe to the one, and the other halfe to the other.
Y el rey dijo: Partíd por medio el niño vivo, y dad la mitad a la una, y la otra mitad a la otra.
26 Then spake the woman, whose the liuing child was, vnto the King, for her compassion was kindled toward her sonne, and she sayde, Oh my lorde, giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: but the other sayde, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but deuide it.
Entonces aquella mujer cuyo era el hijo vivo, dijo al rey (porque sus entrañas se le encendieron por su hijo, y dijo): ¡Ay! señor mío, dad a esta el niño vivo, no le matéis. Y la otra dijo: Ni a mí, ni a ti, sino partídle.
27 Then the King answered, and sayde, Giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: this is his mother.
Entonces el rey respondió, y dijo: Dad a esta el hijo vivo, y no le matéis: ella es su madre.
28 And all Israel heard the iudgement, which the King had iudged, and they feared the King: for they sawe that the wisedome of God was in him to doe iustice.
Y todo Israel oyó aquel juicio, que había juzgado el rey, y hubieron temor del rey, porque vieron que había en él sabiduría de Dios para juzgar.
