1 Kings 3
1 Salomon then made affinitie with Pharaoh King of Egypt, and tooke Pharaohs daughter, and brought her into the citie of Dauid, vntill hee had made an ende of buylding his owne house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Ierusalem round about.
E Salomão se aparentou com Pharaó, rei do Egypto: e tomou a filha de Pharaó, e a trouxe á cidade de David, até que acabasse de edificar a sua casa, e a casa do Senhor, e a muralha de Jerusalem em roda
2 Only the people sacrificed in the hie places, because there was no house buylt vnto the name of the Lord, vntill those dayes.
Sómente que o povo sacrificava sobre os altos: porque até áquelles dias ainda se não tinha edificado casa ao nome do Senhor.
3 And Salomon loued the Lord, walking in the ordinances of Dauid his father: onely he sacrificed and offred incense in the hie places.
E Salomão amava ao Senhor, andando nos estatutos de David seu pae: sómente que nos altos sacrificava, e queimava incenso.
4 And the King went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the chiefe hie place: a thousand burnt offrings did Salomon offer vpon that altar.
E foi o rei a Gibeon para lá sacrificar, porque aquelle era o alto grande: mil holocaustos sacrificou Salomão n'aquelle altar.
5 In Gibeon the Lord appeared to Salomon in a dreame by night: and God sayd, Aske what I shall giue thee.
E em Gibeon appareceu o Senhor a Salomão de noite em sonhos: e disse-lhe Deus: Pede o que quizeres que te dê.
6 And Salomon sayd, Thou hast shewed vnto thy seruant Dauid my father great mercie, when hee walked before thee in trueth, and in righteousnesse, and in vprightnes of heart with thee: and thou hast kept for him this great mercie, and hast giuen him a sonne, to sit on his throne, as appeareth this day.
E disse Salomão: De grande beneficencia usaste tu com teu servo David meu pae, como tambem elle andou comtigo em verdade, e em justiça, e em rectidão de coração, perante a tua face: e guardaste-lhe esta grande beneficencia, e lhe déste um filho que se assentasse no seu throno, como se vê n'este dia.
7 And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy seruant King in steade of Dauid my father: and I am but a yong childe, and know not howe to go out and in.
Agora pois, ó Senhor meu Deus, tu fizeste reinar a teu servo em logar de David meu pae: e sou ainda menino pequeno; nem sei sair, nem entrar.
8 And thy seruant is in the mids of thy people, which thou hast chosen, euen a great people which cannot be told nor nobred for multitude.
E teu servo está no meio do teu povo que elegeste: povo grande, que nem se pode contar, nem numerar, pela sua multidão.
9 Giue therefore vnto thy seruant an vnderstanding heart, to iudge thy people, that I may discerne betweene good and bad: for who is able to iudge this thy mightie people?
A teu servo pois dá um coração entendido para julgar a teu povo, para que prudentemente discerna entre o bem e o mal: porque quem poderia julgar a este teu tão grande povo?
10 And this pleased the Lord well, that Salomon had desired this thing.
E esta palavra pareceu boa aos olhos do Senhor, de que Salomão pedisse esta coisa.
11 And God sayde vnto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thy selfe long life, neyther hast asked riches for thy selfe, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thy selfe vnderstanding to heare iudgement,
E disse-lhe Deus: Porquanto pediste esta coisa, e não pediste para ti riquezas, nem pediste a vida de teus inimigos; mas pediste para ti entendimento, para ouvir causas de juizo;
12 Beholde, I haue done according to thy wordes: lo, I haue giuen thee a wise and an vnderstanding heart, so that there hath bene none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall arise the like vnto thee.
Eis que fiz segundo as tuas palavras: eis que te dei um coração tão sabio e entendido, que antes de ti teu egual não houve, e depois de ti teu egual se não levantará.
13 And I haue also giuen thee that, which thou hast not asked, both riches and honour, so that among the Kings there shall be none like vnto thee all thy dayes.
E tambem até o que não pediste te dei, assim riquezas como gloria: que não haja teu egual entre os reis, por todos os teus dias.
14 And if thou wilt walke in my wayes, to keepe mine ordinances and my commandements, as thy father Dauid did walke, I will prolong thy dayes.
E, se andares nos meus caminhos, guardando os meus estatutos, e os meus mandamentos, como andou David teu pae, tambem prolongarei os teus dias.
15 And when Salomon awoke, behold, it was a dreame, and he came to Ierusalem, and stoode before the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and offred burnt offrings and made peace offrings, and made a feast to all his seruants.
E acordou Salomão, e eis que era sonho. E veiu a Jerusalem, e poz-se perante a arca do concerto do Senhor, e sacrificou holocaustos, e preparou sacrificios pacificos, e fez um banquete a todos os seus servos.
16 Then came two harlots vnto the King, and stoode before him.
Então vieram duas mulheres prostitutas ao rei, e se pozeram perante elle.
17 And the one woman sayd, Oh my lorde, I and this woman dwell in one house, and I was deliuered of a childe with her in the house.
E disse-lhe uma das mulheres: Ah! senhor meu, eu e esta mulher moramos n'uma casa; e pari, morando com ella n'aquella casa.
18 And the third day after that I was deliuered, this woman was deliuered also: and we were in the house together: no stranger was with vs in the house, saue we twaine.
E succedeu que, ao terceiro dia depois do meu parto, pariu tambem esta mulher: estavamos juntas; estranho nenhum estava comnosco na casa, senão nós ambas n'aquella casa.
19 And this womans sonne died in the night: for she ouerlay him.
E de noite morreu o filho d'esta mulher, porquanto se deitara sobre elle.
20 And she rose at midnight, and tooke my sonne from my side, while thine handmaide slept, and layde him in her bosome, and layde her dead sonne in my bosome.
E levantou-se á meia noite, e me tirou a meu filho do meu lado, dormindo a tua serva, e o deitou no seu seio: e a seu filho morto deitou no meu seio.
21 And when I rose in the morning to giue my sonne sucke, beholde, he was dead: and when I had well considered him in the morning, beholde, it was not my sonne, whom I had borne.
E, levantando-me eu pela manhã, para dar de mamar a meu filho, eis que estava morto: mas, attentando pela manhã para elle, eis que não era meu filho, que eu havia parido.
22 Then the other woman sayd, Nay, but my sonne liueth, and thy sonne is dead. Againe she sayde, No, but thy sonne is dead, and mine aliue: thus they spake before the King.
Então disse a outra mulher: Não, mas o vivo é meu filho, e teu filho o morto. Porém esta disse: Não, por certo, o morto é teu filho, e meu filho o vivo. Assim fallaram perante o rei
23 Then sayde the King, She sayth, This that liueth is my sonne, and the dead is thy sonne: and the other sayth, Nay, but the dead is thy sonne, and the liuing is my sonne.
Então disse o rei: Esta diz: Este que vive é meu filho, e teu filho o morto; e esta outra diz: Não, por certo; o morto é teu filho e meu filho o vivo.
24 Then the King said, Bring me a sworde: and they brought out a sworde before the King.
Disse mais o rei: Trazei-me uma espada. E trouxeram uma espada diante do rei.
25 And the King sayde, Deuide ye the liuing child in twaine, and giue the one halfe to the one, and the other halfe to the other.
E disse o rei: Dividi em duas partes o menino vivo: e dae metade a uma, e metade a outra.
26 Then spake the woman, whose the liuing child was, vnto the King, for her compassion was kindled toward her sonne, and she sayde, Oh my lorde, giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: but the other sayde, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but deuide it.
Mas a mulher, cujo filho era o vivo, fallou ao rei (porque as suas entranhas se lhe enterneceram por seu filho), e disse: Ah! senhor meu, dae-lhe o menino vivo, e por modo nenhum o mateis. Porém a outra dizia: Nem teu nem meu seja; dividi-o antes.
27 Then the King answered, and sayde, Giue her the liuing childe, and slay him not: this is his mother.
Então respondeu o rei, e disse: Dae a esta o menino vivo, e de maneira nenhuma o mateis, porque esta é sua mãe.
28 And all Israel heard the iudgement, which the King had iudged, and they feared the King: for they sawe that the wisedome of God was in him to doe iustice.
E todo o Israel ouviu o juizo que julgara o rei, e temeu ao rei: porque viram que havia n'elle a sabedoria de Deus, para fazer justiça.
