1 Kings 15

1 And in the eighteenth yeere of King Ieroboam the sonne of Nebat, reigned Abiiam ouer Iudah.

Il diciottesimo anno del regno di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Nebat, Abijam cominciò a regnare sopra Giuda.

2 Three yeere reigned hee in Ierusalem, and his mothers name was Maachah the daughter of Abishalom.

Regnò tre anni in Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Maaca, figliuola di Abishalom.

3 And hee walked in all the sinnes of his father, which hee had done before him: and his heart was not perfit with the Lord his God as the heart of Dauid his father.

Egli s’abbandonò a tutti i peccati che suo padre avea commessi prima di lui, e il suo cuore non fu tutto quanto per l’Eterno, l’Iddio suo, com’era stato il cuore di Davide suo padre.

4 But for Dauids sake did the Lord his God giue him a light in Ierusalem, and set vp his sonne after him, and established Ierusalem,

Nondimeno, per amor di Davide, l’Eterno, il suo Dio, gli lasciò una lampada a Gerusalemme, stabilendo dopo di lui il suo figliuolo, e lasciando sussistere Gerusalemme;

5 Because Dauid did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and turned from nothing that he commanded him, all the dayes of his life, saue onely in the matter of Vriah the Hittite.

perché Davide avea fatto ciò ch’è giusto agli occhi dell’Eterno, e non si era scostato in nulla dai suoi comandamenti per tutto il tempo della sua vita, salvo nel fatto di Uria, lo Hitteo.

6 And there was warre betweene Rehoboam and Ieroboam as long as he liued.

Or fra Roboamo e Geroboamo vi fu guerra, finché Roboamo visse.

7 The rest also of the actes of Abiiam, and all that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah? there was also warre betweene Abiiam, and Ieroboam.

Il resto delle azioni di Abijam e tutto quello ch’ei fece, sta scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda. E vi fu guerra fra Abijam e Geroboamo.

8 And Abiiam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the citie of Dauid: and Asa his sonne reigned in his steade.

E Abijam s’addormentò coi suoi padri, e fu sepolto nella città di Davide; ed Asa, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

9 And in the twentie yeere of Ieroboam King of Israel reigned Asa ouer Iudah.

L’anno ventesimo del regno di Geroboamo, re d’Israele, Asa cominciò a regnare sopra Giuda.

10 He reigned in Ierusalem one and fourtie yeere, and his mothers name was Maachah the daughter of Abishalom.

Regnò quarantun anni in Gerusalemme. Sua madre si chiamava Maaca, figliuola d’Abishalom.

11 And Asa did right in the eyes of the Lord, as did Dauid his father.

Asa fece ciò ch’è giusto agli occhi dell’Eterno, come avea fatto Davide suo padre,

12 And he tooke away the Sodomites out of the lande, and put away all the idoles that his fathers had made.

tolse via dal paese quelli che si prostituivano, fece sparire tutti gl’idoli che i suoi padri aveano fatti,

13 And he put downe Maachah his mother also from her estate, because shee had made an idole in a groue: and Asa destroyed her idoles, and burnt them by the brooke Kidron.

e destituì pure dalla dignità di regina sua madre Maaca, perch’essa avea rizzato un’immagine ad Astarte; Asa abbatté l’immagine, e la bruciò presso al torrente Kidron.

14 But they put not downe the hie places. Neuertheles Asas heart was vpright with the Lord all his dayes.

Nondimeno, gli alti luoghi non furono eliminati; quantunque il cuore d’Asa fosse tutto quanto per l’Eterno, durante l’intera sua vita.

15 Also he brought in the holy vessels of his father, and the things that he had dedicated vnto ye house of the Lord, siluer, and golde, and vessels.

Egli fece portare nella casa dell’Eterno le cose che suo padre avea consacrate, e quelle che avea consacrate egli stesso: argento, oro, vasi.

16 And there was warre betweene Asa and Baasha King of Israel all their dayes.

E ci fu guerra fra Asa e Baasa, re d’Israele, tutto il tempo della lor vita.

17 Then Baasha king of Israel went vp against Iudah, and buylt Ramah, so that he woulde let none go out or in to Asa King of Iudah.

Baasa, re d’Israele, salì contro Giuda, ed edificò Rama, per impedire che alcuno andasse e venisse dalla parte di Asa, re di Giuda.

18 Then Asa tooke all the siluer and the gold that was left in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the kings house, and deliuered them into the handes of his seruantes, and King Asa sent them to Ben-hadad the sonne of Tabrimon, the sonne of Hezion king of Aram that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

Allora Asa prese tutto l’argento e l’oro ch’era rimasto nei tesori della casa dell’Eterno, prese i tesori della casa del re, e mise tutto in mano dei suoi servi, che mandò a Ben-Hadad, figliuolo di Tabrimmon, figliuolo di Hezion, re di Siria, che abitava a Damasco, per dirgli:

19 There is a couenant betweene me and thee, and betweene my father and thy father: behold, I haue sent vnto thee a present of siluer and golde: come, breake thy couenant with Baasha King of Israel, that he may depart from me.

“Siavi alleanza fra me e te, come vi fu fra il padre mio e il padre tuo. Ecco, io ti mando in dono dell’argento e dell’oro; va’, rompi la tua alleanza con Baasa, re d’Israele, ond’egli si ritiri da me”.

20 So Ben-hadad hearkened vnto King Asa, and sent the captaines of the hosts, which he had, against the cities of Israel, and smote lion, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

Ben-Hadad diè ascolto al re Asa; mandò i capi del suo esercito contro le città d’Israele ed espugnò Ijon, Dan, Abel-Beth-Maaca, tutta la contrada di Kinneroth con tutto il paese di Neftali.

21 And when Baasha heard thereof, hee left buylding of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

E quando Baasa ebbe udito questo, cessò di edificare Rama, e rimase a Tirtsa.

22 Then king Asa assembled al Iudah, none excepted. and they tooke the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, wherewith Baasha had buylt, and King Asa built with them Geba of Beniamin and Mizpah.

Allora il re Asa convocò tutti que’ di Giuda, senza eccettuarne alcuno; e quelli portaron via le pietre e il legname di cui Baasa s’era servito per la costruzione di Rama; e con essi il re Asa edificò Gheba di Beniamino, e Mitspa.

23 And the rest of all the actes of Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he buylt, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Iudah? but in his olde age he was diseased in his feete.

Il resto di tutte le azioni di Asa, tutte le sue prodezze, tutto quello ch’ei fece e le città che edificò, si trova scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda. Ma, nella sua vecchiaia, egli patì di male ai piedi.

24 And Asa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the citie of Dauid his father. And Iehoshaphat his sonne reigned in his steade.

E Asa si addormentò coi suoi padri, e fu sepolto con essi nella città di Davide, suo padre; e Giosafat, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

25 And Nadab the sonne of Ieroboam began to reigne ouer Israel the second yere of Asa King of Iudah, and reigned ouer Israel two yeere.

Nadab, figliuolo di Geroboamo, cominciò a regnare sopra Israele il secondo anno di Asa, re di Giuda; e regnò sopra Israele due anni.

26 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, walking in the way of his father, and in his sinne wherewith he made Israel to sinne.

E fece ciò ch’è male agli occhi dell’Eterno, e seguì le tracce di suo padre e il peccato nel quale aveva indotto Israele.

27 And Baasha the sonne of Ahijah of ye house of Issachar conspired against him, and Baasha slue him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistims: for Nadab and all Israel layde siege to Gibbethon.

Baasa, figliuolo di Ahija, della casa d’Issacar, cospirò contro di lui, e lo uccise a Ghibbethon, che apparteneva ai Filistei, mentre Nadab e tutto Israele assediavano Ghibbethon.

28 Euen in the third yeere of Asa King of Iudah did Baasha slay him, and reigned in his steade.

Baasa l’uccise l’anno terzo di Asa, re di Giuda, e regnò in luogo suo.

29 And when he was King, he smote all the house of Ieroboam, he left none aliue to Ieroboam, vntill hee had destroyed him, according to the word of the Lord which he spake by his seruant Ahijah the Shilonite,

E, non appena fu re, sterminò tutta la casa di Geroboamo; non risparmiò anima viva di quella casa, ma la distrusse interamente, secondo la parola che l’Eterno avea pronunziata, per bocca del suo servo Ahija lo Scilonita,

30 Because of the sinnes of Ieroboam which he committed, and wherewith he made Israel to sinne, by his prouocation, wherewith he prouoked the Lord God of Israel.

a motivo de’ peccati che Geroboamo avea commessi e fatti commettere a Israele, quando avea provocato ad ira l’Iddio d’Israele.

31 And the residue of the actes of Nadab, and all that he did, are they not written in the booke of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Il resto delle azioni di Nadab e tutto quello che fece, non sono cose scritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re d’Israele?

32 And there was warre betweene Asa and Baasha King of Israel, all their dayes.

E ci fu guerra fra Asa e Baasa, re d’Israele, tutto il tempo della loro vita.

33 In the thirde yeere of Asa King of Iudah, began Baasha the sonne of Ahijah to reigne ouer all Israel in Tirzah, and reigned foure and twentie yeeres.

L’anno terzo di Asa, re di Giuda, Baasa, figliuolo di Ahija, cominciò a regnare su tutto Israele. Stava a Tirtsa, e regnò ventiquattro anni.

34 And he did euill in the sight of the Lord, walking in the way of Ieroboam, and in his sinne, wherewith he made Israel to sinne.

Fece quel ch’è male agli occhi dell’Eterno; e seguì le vie di Geroboamo e il peccato che questi avea fatto commettere a Israele.
