1 Corinthians 11

1 Be yee followers of mee, euen as I am of Christ.

Sed imitadores míos tal cual soy yo de Cristo.

2 Now brethren, I commend you, that ye remember all my things, and keepe the ordinances, as I deliuered them to you.

Os alabo de que en todas las cosas os acordéis de mí, y de que observéis las tradiciones conforme os las he transmitido.

3 But I wil that ye know, that Christ is the head of euery man: and the man is the womans head: and God is Christs head.

Mas quiero que sepáis que la cabeza de todo varón es Cristo, y el varón, cabeza de la mujer, y Dios, cabeza de Cristo.

4 Euery man praying or prophecying hauing any thing on his head, dishonoureth his head.

Todo varón que ora o profetiza con la cabeza cubierta, deshonra su cabeza.

5 But euery woman that prayeth or prophecieth bare headed, dishonoureth her head: for it is euen one very thing, as though she were shauen.

Mas toda mujer que ora o profetiza con la cabeza descubierta, deshonra su cabeza; porque es lo mismo que si estuviera rapada.

6 Therefore if the woman be not couered, let her also be shorne: and if it be shame for a woman to be shorne or shauen, let her be couered.

Por donde si una mujer no se cubre, que se rape también; mas si es vergüenza para la mujer cortarse el pelo o raparse, que se cubra.

7 For a man ought not to couer his head: for as much as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.

El hombre, al contrario, no debe cubrirse la cabeza, porque es imagen y gloria de Dios; más la mujer es gloria del varón.

8 For the man is not of the woman, but the woman of the man.

Pues no procede el varón de la mujer, sino la mujer del varón;

9 For the man was not created for the womans sake: but the woman for the mans sake.

como tampoco fue creado el varón por causa de la mujer, sino la mujer por causa del varón.

10 Therefore ought the woman to haue power on her head, because of the Angels.

Por tanto, debe la mujer llevar sobre su cabeza ( la señal de estar bajo ) autoridad, por causa de los ángeles.

11 Neuertheles, neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man in the Lord.

Con todo, en el Señor, el varón no es sin la mujer, ni la mujer sin el varón.

12 For as the woman is of the man, so is the man also by the woman: but all things are of God.

Pues como la mujer procede del varón, así también el varón ( nace ) por medio de la mujer; mas todas las cosas son de Dios.

13 Iudge in your selues, Is it comely that a woman pray vnto God vncouered?

Juzgad por vosotros mismos: ¿Es cosa decorosa que una mujer ore a Dios sin cubrirse?

14 Doeth not nature it selfe teach you, that if a man haue long heare, it is a shame vnto him?

¿No os enseña la misma naturaleza que si el hombre deja crecer la cabellera, es deshonra para él?

15 But if a woman haue long heare, it is a prayse vnto her: for her heare is giuen her for a couering.

Mas si la mujer deja crecer la cabellera es honra para ella; porque la cabellera le es dada a manera de velo.

16 But if any man lust to be contentious, we haue no such custome, neither the Churches of God.

Si, con todo eso, alguno quiere disputar, sepa que nosotros no tenemos tal costumbre, ni tampoco las Iglesias de Dios.

17 Nowe in this that I declare, I prayse you not, that ye come together, not with profite, but with hurt.

Entretanto, al intimaros esto, no alabo el que vuestras reuniones no sean para bien sino para daño vuestro.

18 For first of all, when ye come together in the Church, I heare that there are dissentions among you: and I beleeue it to be true in some part.

Pues, en primer lugar, oigo que al reuniros en la Iglesia hay escisiones entre vosotros; y en parte lo creo.

19 For there must be heresies euen among you, that they which are approoued among you, might be knowen.

Porque menester es que haya entre vosotros facciones para que se manifieste entre vosotros cuáles sean los probados.

20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eate the Lords Supper.

Ahora, pues, cuando os reunís en un mismo lugar, no es para comer la Cena del Señor;

21 For euery man when they should eate, taketh his owne supper afore, and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

porque cada cual, al comenzar la cena, toma primero sus propias provisiones, y sucede que uno tiene hambre mientras otro está ebrio.

22 Haue ye not houses to eate and to drinke in? despise ye the Church of God, and shame them that haue not? what shall I say to you? shall I prayse you in this? I prayse you not.

¿Acaso no tenéis casas para comer y beber? ¿O es que despreciáis la Iglesia de Dios, y avergonzáis a los que nada tienen? ¿Qué os diré? ¿He de alabaros? En esto no alabo.

23 For I haue receiued of the Lord that which I also haue deliuered vnto you, to wit, That the Lord Iesus in the night when he was betrayed, tooke bread:

Porque yo he recibido del Señor lo que también he transmitido a vosotros: que el Señor Jesús la misma noche en que fue entregado, tomó pan;

24 And when hee had giuen thankes, hee brake it, and sayde, Take, eate: this is my body, which is broken for you: this doe ye in remembrance of me.

y habiendo dado gracias, lo partió y dijo: Este es mi cuerpo, el ( entregado ) por vosotros. Esto haced en memoria mía.

25 After the same maner also he tooke the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the Newe Testament in my blood: this doe as oft as ye drinke it, in remembrance of me.

Y de la misma manera ( tomó ) el cáliz, después de cenar, y dijo: Este cáliz es la Nueva Alianza en mi sangre; esto haced cuantas veces bebáis, para memoria de Mí.

26 For as often as ye shall eate this bread, and drinke this cup, ye shewe the Lords death till hee come.

Porque cuantas veces comáis este pan y bebáis el cáliz, anunciad la muerte del Señor hasta que Él venga.

27 Wherefore, whosoeuer shall eate this bread, and drinke the cup of the Lord vnworthily, shall be guiltie of the body and blood of the Lord.

De modo que quien comiere el pan o bebiere el cáliz del Señor indignamente, será reo del cuerpo y de la sangre del Señor.

28 Let euery man therefore examine himselfe, and so let him eate of this bread, and drinke of this cup.

Pero pruébese cada uno a sí mismo, y así coma del pan y beba del cáliz;

29 For he that eateth and drinketh vnworthily, eateth and drinketh his owne damnation, because he discerneth not the Lords body.

porque el que come y bebe, no haciendo distinción del Cuerpo ( del Señor ), come y bebe su propia condenación.

30 For this cause many are weake, and sicke among you, and many sleepe.

Por esto hay entre vosotros muchos débiles y enfermos, y muchos que mueren.

31 For if we would iudge our selues, we should not be iudged.

Si nos examinásemos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos juzgados.

32 But when we are iudged, we are chastened of the Lord, because we should not be condemned with the world.

Mas siendo juzgados por el Señor, somos corregidos para no ser condenados con el mundo.

33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eate, tary one for another.

Por lo cual, hermanos míos, cuando os juntéis para comer, aguardaos los unos a los otros.

34 And if any man be hungry, let him eate at home, that ye come not together vnto condemnation. Other things will I set in order when I come.

Si alguno tiene hambre, coma en su casa a fin de que no os reunáis para condenación. Cuando yo vaya arreglaré lo demás.
