1 Chronicles 23

1 So when Dauid was olde and full of dayes, he made Salomon his sonne King ouer Israel.

Ketika Daud sudah tua sekali ia mengangkat Salomo menjadi raja Israel.

2 And hee gathered together all the princes of Israel with the Priestes and the Leuites.

Raja Daud mengumpulkan semua pemimpin Israel, imam-imam dan orang Lewi,

3 And the Leuites were numbred from ye age of thirtie yeere and aboue, and their nomber according to their summe was eight and thirtie thousand men.

lalu ia menghitung semua orang laki-laki suku Lewi yang berumur tiga puluh tahun ke atas. Semuanya ada 38.000 orang.

4 Of these foure and twentie thousande were set to aduance the worke of the house of the Lord, and sixe thousand were ouerseers and iudges.

Lalu 24.000 orang di antara mereka ditugaskannya untuk menangani pekerjaan di Rumah TUHAN, 6.000 untuk mengurus administrasi dan perkara-perkara pengadilan,

5 And foure thousand were porters, and foure thousande praised the Lord with instruments which he made to praise the Lord.

4.000 untuk tugas pengawalan, dan 4.000 lagi untuk memuji TUHAN dengan alat-alat musik yang telah disediakan.

6 So Dauid deuided offices vnto them, to wit, to the sonnes of Leui, to Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Daud membagi orang-orang Lewi itu dalam tiga kelompok menurut kaum mereka, yaitu kaum Gerson, Kehat dan Merari.

7 Of the Gershonites were Laadan and Shimei.

Gerson mempunyai dua anak laki-laki: Ladan dan Simei.

8 The sonnes of Laadan, the chiefe was Iehiel, and Zetham and Ioel, three.

Anak-anak lelaki Ladan ada tiga orang: Yehiel, Zetam dan Yoel.

9 The Sonnes of Shimei, Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haram, three: these were the chiefe fathers of Laadan.

Mereka adalah kepala kaum keturunan Ladan. (Selomit, Haziel dan Haran adalah anak laki-laki Simei.)

10 Also the sonnes of Shimei were Iahath, Zina, Ieush, and Beriah: these foure were ye sonnes of Shimei.

Empat anak laki-laki Simei menurut urutan umur mereka adalah: Yahat, Ziza, Yeus dan Beria. Keturunan Yeus dan Beria tidak banyak, jadi mereka dianggap satu kaum.

11 And Iahath was the chiefe, and Zizah the seconde, but Ieush and Beriah had not many sonnes: therfore they were in the families of their father, counted but as one.

12 The sonnes of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron aud Vzziel, foure.

Kehat mempunyai empat anak laki-laki: Amram, Yizhar, Hebron dan Uziel.

13 The sonnes of Amram, Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated to sanctifie the most holy place, hee and his sonnes for euer to burne incense before the Lord, to minister to him, and to blesse in his Name for euer.

Amram adalah ayah Harun dan Musa. (Harun dan keturunannya untuk selama-lamanya telah dikhususkan untuk mengurus perkakas-perkakas ibadat, membakar dupa bagi TUHAN, melayani TUHAN dan memberkati rakyat atas nama TUHAN.

14 Moses also the man of God, and his children were named with the tribe of Leui.

Anak-anak lelaki Musa hamba Allah itu digolongkan ke dalam suku Lewi.)

15 The sonnes of Moses were Gershom, and Eliezer,

Musa mempunyai dua anak laki-laki, yaitu Gersom dan Eliezer.

16 Of the sonnes of Gershom was Shebuel the chiefe.

Yang menjadi pemimpin anak-anak Gersom ialah Sebuel.

17 And the sonne of Eliezer was Rehabiah the chiefe: for Eliezer had none other sonnes: but the sonnes of Rehabiah were very many.

Eliezer mempunyai hanya seorang anak laki-laki, namanya Rehabya. Tetapi Rehabya mempunyai banyak sekali anak.

18 The sone of Izhar was Shelomith ye chiefe.

Yizhar, anak Kehat yang kedua, mempunyai anak laki-laki bernama Selomit; ia adalah kepala kaum.

19 The sonnes of Hebron were Ieriah the first, Amariah the second, Iahaziel the third, and Iekamiam the fourth.

Hebron, anak Kehat yang ketiga, mempunyai empat anak laki-laki: Yeria yang tertua, berikut Amarya, Yehaziel dan Yekameam.

20 The sones of Vzziel were Michah the first, and Isshiah the second.

Uziel, anak Kehat yang keempat, mempunyai dua anak laki-laki: Mikha yang tertua, dan Yisia.

21 The sonnes of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. The sonnes of Mahli, Eleazar and Kish.

Merari mempunyai dua anak laki-laki bernama Mahli dan Musi. Mahli mempunyai dua anak laki-laki, yaitu Eleazar dan Kish,

22 And Eleazar dyed, and had no sonnes, but daughters, and their brethren the sonnes of Kish tooke them.

tetapi Eleazar meninggal tanpa mempunyai anak laki-laki; hanya anak-anak perempuan yang kawin dengan saudara-saudara sepupu mereka, yaitu anak-anak Kish.

23 The sonnes of Mushi were Mahli, and Eder, and Ierimoth, three.

Musi, anak Merari yang kedua, mempunyai tiga anak laki-laki: Mahli, Eder dan Yeremot.

24 These were the sonnes of Leui according to the house of their fathers, euen the chiefe fathers according to their offices, according to the nomber of names and their summe that did the worke for the seruice of the house of the Lord from the age of twentie yeeres and aboue.

Itulah nama-nama keturunan Lewi yang tercatat menurut nama kepala kaum dan keluarganya masing-masing. Mereka berumur dua puluh tahun ke atas dan mendapat tugas di Rumah TUHAN.

25 For Dauid sayde, The Lord God of Israel hath giuen rest vnto his people, that they may dwell in Ierusalem for euer.

Daud berkata, "TUHAN Allah Israel telah memberikan ketentraman kepada umat-Nya, dan Ia sendiri tinggal di Yerusalem untuk selama-lamanya.

26 And also the Leuites shall no more beare the Tabernacle and al the vessels for the seruice thereof.

Karena itu, Kemah TUHAN dan semua perkakas yang dipakai untuk ibadat tidak perlu lagi dipikul oleh orang Lewi."

27 Therefore according to the last wordes of Dauid, the Leuites were nombred from twentie yeere and aboue,

Berdasarkan perintah-perintah terakhir dari Daud, semua orang Lewi, apabila sudah berumur 20 tahun, harus didaftarkan untuk bertugas.

28 And their office was vnder the hand of the sonnes of Aaron, for the seruice of the house of the Lord in the courtes, and chambers, and in the purifiyng of all holy thinges, and in the worke of the seruice of the house of God,

Mereka harus membantu imam-imam keturunan Harun dalam menyelenggarakan upacara ibadat di Rumah TUHAN, memelihara pelataran-pelataran dan kamar-kamar di Rumah TUHAN itu, serta menjaga supaya segala sesuatu yang sudah dikhususkan untuk TUHAN tidak menjadi najis.

29 Both for the shewbread, and for the fine floure, for the meate offring, and for the vnleauened cakes, and for the fryed things, and for that which was rosted, and for all measures and cise,

Mereka juga bertanggung jawab atas yang berikut ini: roti yang dipersembahkan kepada Allah, tepung yang dipakai untuk persembahan kepada TUHAN, kue tipis yang dibuat tanpa ragi, kurban panggangan, dan tepung yang dicampur dengan minyak zaitun. Mereka harus juga menimbang dan menakar persembahan-persembahan yang dibawa ke Rumah TUHAN.

30 And for to stand euery morning, to giue thanks and praise to the Lord, and likewise at euen,

Selain itu mereka harus menyanyi untuk memuji TUHAN setiap pagi dan setiap malam;

31 And to offer all burnt offrings vnto the Lord, in the Sabbaths, in the moneths, and at the appointed times, according to the nomber and according to their custome continually before the Lord,

juga setiap waktu apabila ada kurban yang dibakar untuk TUHAN pada hari Sabat, pada perayaan Bulan Baru, dan pada perayaan-perayaan lainnya. Mengenai jumlah orang Lewi yang harus bertugas setiap kali, telah juga dibuat peraturannya. Untuk selama-lamanya orang Lewi harus melaksanakan tugas itu.

32 And that they should keepe the charge of the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and the charge of ye holy place, and the charge of ye sonnes of Aaron their brethren in the seruice of ye house of the Lord.

Mereka diberi juga tanggung jawab untuk memelihara Kemah TUHAN serta Rumah TUHAN dan untuk membantu saudara-saudara mereka, yaitu para imam keturunan Harun, dalam menyelenggarakan ibadat di tempat itu.
