Titus 1

1 This letter comes from Paul, servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. I'm sent to build up the trust of God's chosen people and to share the knowledge of the truth that leads to lives lived for God.

Si Pablo, ulipon sa Dios ug apostol ni Jesu-Cristo, aron sa pagpausbaw sa pagtoo sa mga pinili sa Dios, ug sa ilang kahibalo sa kamatuoran nga nahitukma sa pagkadiosnon,

2 This gives them the hope of eternal life that God (who cannot lie) promised ages ago, (aiōnios g166)

diha sa paglaum alang sa dayong kinabuhi nga sa Dios nga dili arang makabakak, gisaad kaniadto sa wala pa ang kapanahonan (aiōnios g166)

3 but which at the proper time he revealed through his word in the message which I was entrusted to give, following the command of God our Savior.

ug nga sa gitagal nga panahon gikapadayag diha sa iyang pulong pinaagi sa pagwali nga gipiyal kanako sumala sa sugo sa Dios nga atong Manluluwas;

4 This letter is sent to Titus, my true son through the trust in God we share in common. May you have grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Savior.

Kang Tito, akong tinuod nga anak diha sa tinuohan nga atong tanan:

5 The reason I left you in Crete was for you to organize what was still needed and to appoint elders in every town, as I told you.

Gibilin ko ikaw sa Creta sa hinungdan nga mao kini, aron sa paghulip sa kakulangan, ug sa pagtudlog mga anciano sa matag-usa ka lungsod sumala sa akong gitugon kanimo,

6 An elder must have a good reputation, the husband of one wife, and have children who believe and who are not accused of being wild or disobedient.

nga ang maong mga tawo kinahanglan dili masaway, bana sa usa lamang ka asawa, kinsang mga anak mga magtotoo ug dili arang kabutangan ug sumbong sa pagkamapatuyangon o pagkamasupilon.

7 As a leader for God, a head elder must have a good reputation and not be arrogant. He should not have a quick temper nor get drunk; he shouldn't be violent or greedy for money.

Kay ang obispo, ingon nga piniyalan sa Dios, kinahanglan dili baladlongon; kinahanglan dili siya magpalabawlabaw sa iyang kaugalingon, dili masuk-anon, dili hinginom ug bino, dili tigpanukmag, dili hinapi sa talamayong paagi,

8 He should be hospitable, someone who loves what's good and does what's right. He should be living a life for God, self-controlled,

hinonoa maabiabihon siya sa mga dumuloong, mahigugmaon sa maayo, mabuot, matarung, putli, mapugnganon sa kaugalingon;

9 and must be devoted to the trustworthy message as it's taught. In this way he can encourage others through correct teaching, and be able to convince those who disagree.

kinahanglan nga mangupot siya pag-ayo sa kasaligang pulong nga ingon sa gikatudlo kaniya, aron makahimo siya sa paghatag ug pagtulon-an sa matarung tuloohan, ug usab sa pagsaway kanila nga nagasupak niini.

10 For there are many rebels around who talk a lot of deceptive nonsense, especially from the circumcision group.

Kay daghan ang mga tawong masukihon, mga tigsultig mga pulong nga walay hinungdan ug usab mga malimbongon, ilabina ang mga tawo sa pundok sa mga may sirkunsisyon,

11 Their talking must stop, these people who throw whole families into turmoil, teaching things that aren't right for the sake of making money.

kinsang mga baba kinahanglan busalan, sanglit kini sila tungod lang sa pagpanapi nga makauulaw, nanagpangdaut man sa tibuok nga mga panimalay pinaagi sa pagpanudlo sa dili nila katungod sa pagpanudlo.

12 As someone of their own people, a prophet, has stated, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts who are lazy, greedy people.”

Usa kanila, nga ilang kaugalingon profeta, miingon, "Ang mga Cretanhon kanunay gayung bakakon, mga mananap nga dautan, mga palakaon nga tapulan."

13 This is a true statement! Consequently give them a good telling-off so that they can have a healthy trust in God,

14 not paying attention to Jewish myths and human commandments from those who deviate from the truth.

ug dili na magtagad sa mga tinumotumong sugilanon sa mga Judio o sa mga kasugoan gikan sa mga tawo nga nanagsalikway sa kamatuoran.

15 To those who have clean minds everything is clean, but to those who are corrupt and refuse to trust in God, nothing is clean—both their minds and their consciences are corrupt.

Alang sa mga maputli, ang tanang mga butang maputli; apan alang sa mga mahugaw ug dili matinoohon, walay bisan unsang butang nga maputli; hinonoa ang ilang mga hunahuna ug kaisipan mao ang mahugaw.

16 They claim to know God, but they prove this is false by what they do. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.

Sila magapahayag nga sila nanagpakaila sa Dios, apan ilang ginapanghimakak siya pinaagi sa ilang mga binuhatan; sila dulomtan, masukihon, dili mapuslan alang sa bisan unsang maayong bulohaton.
