Psalms 64

1 For the music director. A psalm of David. God, please listen to my complaint. Protect me because my enemies scare me.

[Dem Vorsänger. Ein Psalm von David.] Höre, Gott, meine Stimme in meiner Klage; vor dem Schrecken des Feindes behüte mein Leben!

2 Shelter me from the plots of the wicked, from this evil mob.

Verbirg mich vor dem geheimen Rat der Übeltäter, vor der Rotte derer, die Frevel tun!

3 What they say cuts like swords; they fire off poisonous words like arrows.

Welche ihre Zunge geschärft haben gleich einem Schwerte, ihren Pfeil angelegt, bitteres Wort,

4 They shoot from their hiding places at innocent people—doing this without warning, not afraid of being caught.

Um im Versteck zu schießen auf den Unsträflichen: plötzlich schießen sie auf ihn und scheuen sich nicht.

5 They encourage one another to do evil, planning how to secretly trap people, telling themselves, “Nobody will notice.”

Sie stärken sich in einer bösen Sache; sie reden davon, Fallstricke zu verbergen; sie sagen: Wer wird uns sehen? [Eig. wer ihnen zusehen könnte]

6 They plot wicked things. “What a great plan we've created!” they say. There are no limits to the depths to which human minds and thoughts can sink.

Sie denken Schlechtigkeiten aus: "Wir habens fertig, der Plan ist ausgedacht!" [O. "Wir haben fertig gebracht den ausgedachten Plan"] Und eines jeden Inneres und Herz ist tief.

7 But God will shoot them with arrows; all of a sudden they will be wounded.

Aber Gott schießt auf sie, -plötzlich kommt ein Pfeil: [And. üb.: auf sie einen plötzlichen Pfeil] ihre Wunden sind da.

8 What they themselves say will trip them up; people who see them will mock them, shaking their heads at them.

Und sie werden zu Fall gebracht, ihre Zunge [d. h. ihr Ratschlag, das was sie anderen zu tun gedachten] kommt über sie; alle, die sie sehen, werden den Kopf schütteln. [And. üb.: werden sich flüchten]

9 Then everyone will be frightened. They will say that this is the work of God, and they will think about what he has done.

Und es werden sich fürchten alle Menschen, und das Tun Gottes verkünden und sein Werk erwägen.

10 Those who are right with the Lord will be happy in him, they will go to him for protection. Those who live right will praise him.

Der Gerechte wird sich in Jehova freuen und auf ihn trauen; und es werden sich rühmen alle von Herzen Aufrichtigen.
