Psalms 14

1 For the music director. A psalm of David. Only fools tell themselves, “God doesn't exist.” They are completely immoral; they commit terrible sins; not a single one of them does anything good.

Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen. Die Toren sprechen in ihrem Herzen: Es ist kein Gott. Sie taugen nichts und sind ein Greuel mit ihrem Wesen. Da ist keiner, der Gutes tue.

2 The Lord watches from heaven to see whether anyone understands—if there's anyone who wants to come to God.

Der HERR schauet vom Himmel auf der Menschen Kinder, daß er sehe, ob jemand klug sei und nach Gott frage.

3 They have all gone their own way, they are totally depraved; none of them does anything good, not even one.

Aber sie sind alle abgewichen und allesamt untüchtig; da ist keiner, der Gutes tue, auch nicht einer.

4 Won't these people who do evil ever learn? They consume my people as if they were eating bread, and refuse to pray to the Lord.

Will denn der Übeltäter keiner das merken, die mein Volk fressen, daß sie sich nähren, aber den HERRN rufen sie nicht an?

5 Look, they will become terrified, because God is with those who live right.

Daselbst fürchten sie sich; aber Gott ist bei dem Geschlecht der Gerechten.

6 The wicked dismiss the plans of the poor people, but the Lord looks after them.

Ihr schändet des Armen Rat; aber Gott ist seine Zuversicht.

7 If only the Lord's salvation would come from Zion! When the Lord restores his people, the people of Jacob will celebrate, and the people of Israel will be glad.

Ach, daß die Hilfe aus Zion über Israel käme, und der HERR sein gefangen Volk erlösete! So würde Jakob fröhlich sein und Israel sich freuen.
