< Psalms 131 >

1 A song for pilgrims going up to Jerusalem. A psalm of David. Lord, I'm not proud or arrogant. I don't worry about things that are beyond me, matters that are far beyond my experience.
A Song of degrees. Of David. Jehovah, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty; neither do I exercise myself in great matters, and in things too wonderful for me.
2 On the contrary, I have chosen to be calm and quiet, like a weaned child with its mother. I am like a weaned child with its mother.
Surely I have restrained and composed my soul, like a weaned child with its mother: my soul within me is as a weaned child.
3 Israel, hope in the Lord, now and forever!
Let Israel hope in Jehovah, from henceforth and for evermore.
