< Psalms 108 >

1 A song. A psalm of David. God, I have complete confidence in you! My whole being sings praises to you!
A Song, a Melody: David’s. Fixed, is my heart, O God, I will sing and touch the strings, even mine honour.
2 Wake up, harp and lyre! I will wake up the dawn!
Awake, O harp and lyre, I will awaken the dawn!
3 I will thank you among the peoples, Lord, I will sing your praises among the nations.
I will thank thee among the peoples, O Yahweh, and will sing praise unto thee, among the tribes of men.
4 For your trustworthy love reaches higher than the heavens, your faithfulness is higher than the clouds.
For, great, above the heavens, is thy lovingkindness, and, as far as the skies, thy faithfulness.
5 God, your greatness is above the highest heavens; and your glory is over all the earth!
Be thou exalted above the heavens, O God, And, above all the earth, be thy glory.
6 Rescue those you love! Answer us, and save us by your power!
To the end thy beloved ones may be delivered, Oh save thou with thy right hand and answer me!
7 God has spoken from his Temple: “Triumphantly I divide up Shechem, and portion out the Valley of Succoth.
God, hath spoken in his holiness, I will exult! I will apportion Shechem! And, the Vale of Succoth, will I measure out;
8 Both Gilead and Manasseh belong to me. Ephraim is my helmet, and Judah is my scepter.
Mine, is Gilead—mine, Manasseh, but, Ephraim, is the defence of my head, Judah, is my commander’s staff;
9 I will treat Moab as my washbasin; I will place my sandal on Edom; I will shout in triumph over Philistia.”
Moab, is my wash-bowl, Upon Edom, will I throw my shoe, Over Philistia, raise a shout of triumph.
10 Who will bring me into the fortified city? Who will lead me into Edom?
Who will conduct me to a fortified city? Who will lead me as far as Edom?
11 Have you rejected us, God? Won't you go out with our armies?
Hast not thou, O God, rejected us? and wilt not go forth, O God, with our hosts.
12 Please give us help against our enemies, for human help is worthless.
Grant us help out of distress, for, vain, is the deliverance of man:
13 Our strength is in God, and he will crush our enemies.
In God, shall we do valiantly, He himself, therefore, shall tread down our adversaries.
