Proverbs 31
1 These are the words of King Lemuel, an oracle, taught to him by his mother.
Palavras do rei Lemuel: a profecia com que lhe ensinou a sua mãe.
2 What shall I tell you, my son?—the son I gave birth to, the son given in response to my vows.
Como, filho meu? e como, ó filho do meu ventre? e como, ó filho das minhas promessas?
3 Don't waste your strength sleeping with women, those that bring down kings.
Não dês às mulheres a tua força, nem os teus caminhos às que destroem os reis
4 Lemuel, kings shouldn't be drinking wine, rulers shouldn't be drinking alcohol.
Não é dos reis, ó Lemuel, não é dos reis beber vinho, nem dos príncipes desejar bebida forte.
5 For if they drink, they'll forget what the law says, and pervert the rights of those who are suffering.
Para que não bebam, e se esqueçam do estatuto, e pervertam o juízo de todos os aflitos.
6 Give alcohol to those who are dying, and wine to those who are in terrible distress.
Dai bebida forte aos que perecem, e o vinho aos amargosos de espírito:
7 Let them drink so they can forget their poverty, and not remember their troubles any longer.
Para que bebam, e se esqueçam da sua pobreza, e do seu trabalho não se lembrem mais.
8 Speak up for those who have no voice, for the rights of those marginalized by society.
Abre a tua boca a favor do mudo, pelo direito de todos que vão perecendo.
9 Speak up and judge fairly; defend the poor and destitute.
Abre a tua boca; julga retamente; e faze justiça aos pobres e aos necessitados.
10 Who can find a strong, capable wife? She's worth more than jewels!
Aleph. Mulher virtuosa quem a achará? porque a sua valia muito excede a de rubins.
11 Her husband has complete confidence in her, and with her he'll never be poor.
Beth. O coração do seu marido está nela tão confiado que fazenda lhe não faltará.
12 She brings him good, not evil, all her life.
Gimel. ela lhe faz bem, e não mal, todos os dias da sua vida.
13 She gets wool and flax, and with her eager hands turns them into clothes.
Daleth. Busca lã e linho, e trabalha com a indústria de suas mãos.
14 Like a merchant's ship, she brings food from far away.
He. É como o navio de mercador; de longe traz o seu pão.
15 She gets up while it's still dark to make breakfast for her family, and to plan what her servant girls need to do.
Vau. Ainda até de noite se levanta, e dá mantimento à sua casa, e ordenaria porção às suas servas.
16 She looks at a field, and decides to buy it; from the money she's earned she buys a vineyard.
Zain. Considera uma herdade, e adquire-a: planta uma vinha do fruto de suas mãos.
17 She's keen to get ready, and works hard with her strong arms.
Heth. Cinge os seus lombos de força, e corrobora os seus braços.
18 She knows that the things she makes are valuable. She keeps busy—her lamp burns late into the night.
Teth. Prova e vê que é boa a sua mercância; e a sua lâmpada não se apaga de noite.
19 She spins the thread and weaves the cloth.
Jod. Estende as suas mãos ao fuso, e as palmas das suas mãos pegam na roca.
20 She's generous to the poor, and gives help to the needy.
Caph. Abre a sua mão ao aflito; e ao necessitado estende as suas mãos.
21 She doesn't worry if it snows, because her whole family has warm clothing.
Lamed. Não temerá, por causa da neve, por sua casa, porque toda a sua casa anda forrada de roupa dobrada.
22 She makes herself bedspreads; she dresses in fine linen and purple clothes.
Mem. Faz para si tapeçaria; de linho fino e púrpura é o seu vestido.
23 Her husband is well-respected in the council at the town gates, where he sits with the town elders.
Nun. Conhece-se o seu marido nas portas, quando se assenta com os anciãos da terra.
24 She makes linen clothes for sale, and supplies merchants with belts.
Samech. Faz panos de linho fino, e vende-os, e dá cintas aos mercadores.
25 She's clothed with strength and dignity, and she is happy about the future.
Ain. A força e a glória são os seus vestidos, e ri-se do dia futuro.
26 She speaks wise words, and she's kind when she gives instructions.
Pé. Abre a sua boca com sabedoria, e a lei da beneficência está na sua língua.
27 She looks after the needs of her whole household, and she's never idle.
Tsade. atenta pelos passos de sua casa, e não come o pão da preguiça.
28 Her children are quick to bless her. Her husband praises her too, saying,
Koph. Levantam-se seus filhos, prezam-na por benaventurada; como também seu marido, que a louva, dizendo:
29 “Many women do great things, but you are better than all of them!”
Res. Muitas filhas obraram virtuosamente; porém tu a todas as sobrepujas.
30 Charm can deceive, and beauty fades, but a woman who honors the Lord should be praised.
Sin. Enganosa é a graça e vaidade a formosura, mas a mulher que teme ao Senhor essa será louvada.
31 Give her the recognition she deserves; praise her publicly for what she's done.
Thau. dai-lhe do fruto das suas mãos, e louvem-na nas portas as suas obras.
