Matthew 20
1 For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
સ્વર્ગરાજ્યમ્ એતાદૃશા કેનચિદ્ ગૃહસ્યેન સમં, યોઽતિપ્રભાતે નિજદ્રાક્ષાક્ષેત્રે કૃષકાન્ નિયોક્તું ગતવાન્|
2 He agreed to pay the workers one denarius for the day, and sent them to work in his vineyard.
પશ્ચાત્ તૈઃ સાકં દિનૈકભૃતિં મુદ્રાચતુર્થાંશં નિરૂપ્ય તાન્ દ્રાક્ષાક્ષેત્રં પ્રેરયામાસ|
3 Around 9 a.m. he went out and saw others without work standing in the marketplace.
અનન્તરં પ્રહરૈકવેલાયાં ગત્વા હટ્ટે કતિપયાન્ નિષ્કર્મ્મકાન્ વિલોક્ય તાનવદત્,
4 ‘Go and work in the vineyard too, and I'll pay you what's right,’ he told them. So they went to work.
યૂયમપિ મમ દ્રાક્ષાક્ષેત્રં યાત, યુષ્મભ્યમહં યોગ્યભૃતિં દાસ્યામિ, તતસ્તે વવ્રજુઃ|
5 Around noon and 3 p.m. he went out and did the same thing.
પુનશ્ચ સ દ્વિતીયતૃતીયયોઃ પ્રહરયો ર્બહિ ર્ગત્વા તથૈવ કૃતવાન્|
6 At 5 p.m. he went out and found others standing there. ‘Why are you standing around all day doing nothing?’ he asked them.
તતો દણ્ડદ્વયાવશિષ્ટાયાં વેલાયાં બહિ ર્ગત્વાપરાન્ કતિપયજનાન્ નિષ્કર્મ્મકાન્ વિલોક્ય પૃષ્ટવાન્, યૂયં કિમર્થમ્ અત્ર સર્વ્વં દિનં નિષ્કર્મ્માણસ્તિષ્ઠથ?
7 ‘Because nobody has hired us,’ they replied. ‘Go and work in the vineyard too,’ he told them.
તે પ્રત્યવદન્, અસ્માન્ ન કોપિ કર્મમણિ નિયુંક્તે| તદાનીં સ કથિતવાન્, યૂયમપિ મમ દ્રાક્ષાક્ષેત્રં યાત, તેન યોગ્યાં ભૃતિં લપ્સ્યથ|
8 When evening came, the owner of the vineyard told his manager, ‘Call the workers in, and pay them their wages. Begin with the workers hired last and then move on to those hired first.’
તદનન્તરં સન્ધ્યાયાં સત્યાં સએવ દ્રાક્ષાક્ષેત્રપતિરધ્યક્ષં ગદિવાન્, કૃષકાન્ આહૂય શેષજનમારભ્ય પ્રથમં યાવત્ તેભ્યો ભૃતિં દેહિ|
9 When those who were hired at 5 p.m. came in, they each received one denarius.
તેન યે દણ્ડદ્વયાવસ્થિતે સમાયાતાસ્તેષામ્ એકૈકો જનો મુદ્રાચતુર્થાંશં પ્રાપ્નોત્|
10 So when those who were hired first came in, they thought they would get more, but they also received one denarius.
તદાનીં પ્રથમનિયુક્તા જના આગત્યાનુમિતવન્તો વયમધિકં પ્રપ્સ્યામઃ, કિન્તુ તૈરપિ મુદ્રાચતુર્થાંશોઽલાભિ|
11 When they received their pay, they complained to the owner.
તતસ્તે તં ગૃહીત્વા તેન ક્ષેત્રપતિના સાકં વાગ્યુદ્ધં કુર્વ્વન્તઃ કથયામાસુઃ,
12 ‘Those who were hired last only worked for an hour, and you've paid them the same as us who worked the whole day in the burning heat,’ they grumbled.
વયં કૃત્સ્નં દિનં તાપક્લેશૌ સોઢવન્તઃ, કિન્તુ પશ્ચાતાયા સે જના દણ્ડદ્વયમાત્રં પરિશ્રાન્તવન્તસ્તેઽસ્માભિઃ સમાનાંશાઃ કૃતાઃ|
13 The owner answered one of them, ‘My friend, I haven't treated you unfairly. Didn't you agree with me to work for one denarius?
તતઃ સ તેષામેકં પ્રત્યુવાચ, હે વત્સ, મયા ત્વાં પ્રતિ કોપ્યન્યાયો ન કૃતઃ કિં ત્વયા મત્સમક્ષં મુદ્રાચતુર્થાંશો નાઙ્ગીકૃતઃ?
14 Take your pay and go. I want to pay those who were hired last the same as I paid you.
તસ્માત્ તવ યત્ પ્રાપ્યં તદાદાય યાહિ, તુભ્યં યતિ, પશ્ચાતીયનિયુક્તલોકાયાપિ તતિ દાતુમિચ્છામિ|
15 Can't I choose to do what I want with my own money? Why should you give me evil looks because I want to do good?’
સ્વેચ્છયા નિજદ્રવ્યવ્યવહરણં કિં મયા ન કર્ત્તવ્યં? મમ દાતૃત્વાત્ ત્વયા કિમ્ ઈર્ષ્યાદૃષ્ટિઃ ક્રિયતે?
16 In this way the last shall be first and the first shall be last.”
ઇત્થમ્ અગ્રીયલોકાઃ પશ્ચતીયા ભવિષ્યન્તિ, પશ્ચાતીયજનાશ્ચગ્રીયા ભવિષ્યન્તિ, અહૂતા બહવઃ કિન્ત્વલ્પે મનોભિલષિતાઃ|
17 On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus took the twelve disciples aside as they walked along and told them,
તદનન્તરં યીશુ ર્યિરૂશાલમ્નગરં ગચ્છન્ માર્ગમધ્યે શિષ્યાન્ એકાન્તે વભાષે,
18 “Look, we're going to Jerusalem, and the Son of man will be betrayed to the chief priests and religious teachers. They will condemn him to death
પશ્ય વયં યિરૂશાલમ્નગરં યામઃ, તત્ર પ્રધાનયાજકાધ્યાપકાનાં કરેષુ મનુષ્યપુત્રઃ સમર્પિષ્યતે;
19 and hand him over to the foreigners to mock him, whip him, and crucify him. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.”
તે ચ તં હન્તુમાજ્ઞાપ્ય તિરસ્કૃત્ય વેત્રેણ પ્રહર્ત્તું ક્રુશે ધાતયિતુઞ્ચાન્યદેશીયાનાં કરેષુ સમર્પયિષ્યન્તિ, કિન્તુ સ તૃતીયદિવસે શ્મશાનાદ્ ઉત્થાપિષ્યતે|
20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee came with her two sons to Jesus. She kneeled down before him to make a request.
તદાનીં સિવદીયસ્ય નારી સ્વપુત્રાવાદાય યીશોઃ સમીપમ્ એત્ય પ્રણમ્ય કઞ્ચનાનુગ્રહં તં યયાચે|
21 “What is it you are asking me for?” Jesus said to her. “Please appoint my sons to sit beside you in your kingdom, one on your right and the other on your left,” she asked.
તદા યીશુસ્તાં પ્રોક્તવાન્, ત્વં કિં યાચસે? તતઃ સા બભાષે, ભવતો રાજત્વે મમાનયોઃ સુતયોરેકં ભવદ્દક્ષિણપાર્શ્વે દ્વિતીયં વામપાર્શ્વ ઉપવેષ્ટુમ્ આજ્ઞાપયતુ|
22 “You don't know what you're asking,” Jesus told them. “Are you able to drink the cup I'm about to drink?” “Yes, we are able to do that,” they told him.
યીશુઃ પ્રત્યુવાચ, યુવાભ્યાં યદ્ યાચ્યતે, તન્ન બુધ્યતે, અહં યેન કંસેન પાસ્યામિ યુવાભ્યાં કિં તેન પાતું શક્યતે? અહઞ્ચ યેન મજ્જેનેન મજ્જિષ્યે, યુવાભ્યાં કિં તેન મજ્જયિતું શક્યતે? તે જગદુઃ શક્યતે|
23 “You will certainly drink from my cup,” he said to them, “but the privilege to sit on my right or on my left isn't mine to give. My Father is the one who has decided who that will be.”
તદા સ ઉક્તવાન્, યુવાં મમ કંસેનાવશ્યં પાસ્યથઃ, મમ મજ્જનેન ચ યુવામપિ મજ્જિષ્યેથે, કિન્તુ યેષાં કૃતે મત્તાતેન નિરૂપિતમ્ ઇદં તાન્ વિહાયાન્યં કમપિ મદ્દક્ષિણપાર્શ્વે વામપાર્શ્વે ચ સમુપવેશયિતું મમાધિકારો નાસ્તિ|
24 When the other ten disciples heard what they had asked, they were annoyed with the two brothers.
એતાં કથાં શ્રુત્વાન્યે દશશિષ્યાસ્તૌ ભ્રાતરૌ પ્રતિ ચુકુપુઃ|
25 Jesus called them together and told them, “You know that foreign rulers lord it over their subjects, and powerful leaders oppress them.
કિન્તુ યીશુઃ સ્વસમીપં તાનાહૂય જગાદ, અન્યદેશીયલોકાનાં નરપતયસ્તાન્ અધિકુર્વ્વન્તિ, યે તુ મહાન્તસ્તે તાન્ શાસતિ, ઇતિ યૂયં જાનીથ|
26 It shall not be like that for you. Whoever among you wants to be the most important will be your servant.
કિન્તુ યુષ્માકં મધ્યે ન તથા ભવેત્, યુષ્માકં યઃ કશ્ચિત્ મહાન્ બુભૂષતિ, સ યુષ્માન્ સેવેત;
27 Whoever among you wants to be first will be like a slave.
યશ્ચ યુષ્માકં મધ્યે મુખ્યો બુભૂષતિ, સ યુષ્માકં દાસો ભવેત્|
28 In the same way the Son of man didn't come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
ઇત્થં મનુજપુત્રઃ સેવ્યો ભવિતું નહિ, કિન્તુ સેવિતું બહૂનાં પરિત્રાણમૂલ્યાર્થં સ્વપ્રાણાન્ દાતુઞ્ચાગતઃ|
29 As they left Jericho, a huge crowd followed Jesus.
અનન્તરં યિરીહોનગરાત્ તેષાં બહિર્ગમનસમયે તસ્ય પશ્ચાદ્ બહવો લોકા વવ્રજુઃ|
30 Two blind men were sitting at the side of the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they called out, “Have mercy on us, Lord, son of David!”
અપરં વર્ત્મપાર્શ્વ ઉપવિશન્તૌ દ્વાવન્ધૌ તેન માર્ગેણ યીશો ર્ગમનં નિશમ્ય પ્રોચ્ચૈઃ કથયામાસતુઃ, હે પ્રભો દાયૂદઃ સન્તાન, આવયો ર્દયાં વિધેહિ|
31 The crowd told them to be quiet, but they shouted even louder, “Have mercy on us, Lord, son of David!”
તતો લોકાઃ સર્વ્વે તુષ્ણીમ્ભવતમિત્યુક્ત્વા તૌ તર્જયામાસુઃ; તથાપિ તૌ પુનરુચ્ચૈઃ કથયામાસતુઃ હે પ્રભો દાયૂદઃ સન્તાન, આવાં દયસ્વ|
32 Jesus stopped. He called them over, asking, “What do you want me to do for you?”
તદાનીં યીશુઃ સ્થગિતઃ સન્ તાવાહૂય ભાષિતવાન્, યુવયોઃ કૃતે મયા કિં કર્ત્તર્વ્યં? યુવાં કિં કામયેથે?
33 “Lord, please make us able to see,” they replied.
તદા તાવુક્તવન્તૌ, પ્રભો નેત્રાણિ નૌ પ્રસન્નાનિ ભવેયુઃ|
34 Jesus had pity on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they could see, and they followed him.
તદાનીં યીશુસ્તૌ પ્રતિ પ્રમન્નઃ સન્ તયો ર્નેત્રાણિ પસ્પર્શ, તેનૈવ તૌ સુવીક્ષાઞ્ચક્રાતે તત્પશ્ચાત્ જગ્મુતુશ્ચ|
