< Luke 24 >

1 Very early on the first day of the week, the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they'd prepared.
2 They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance to the tomb,
Wakakuta lile jiwe limevingirishwa kutoka kwenye kaburi,
3 but when they went in they didn't find the body of the Lord Jesus.
4 While they were wondering what was going on, two men suddenly appeared dressed in clothes that shone brilliantly.
Walipokuwa wanashangaa juu ya jambo hili, ghafula watu wawili waliokuwa wamevaa mavazi yanayongʼaa kama umeme wakasimama karibu nao.
5 The women were terrified and bowed down, their faces on the ground. They said to the women, “Why are you looking for someone who is alive among the dead?
Wale wanawake, wakiwa na hofu, wakainamisha nyuso zao mpaka chini. Lakini wale watu wakawaambia, “Kwa nini mnamtafuta aliye hai miongoni mwa wafu?
6 He's not here; he's risen from the dead! Remember what he told you while you were still in Galilee:
Hayuko hapa; amefufuka! Kumbukeni alivyowaambia alipokuwa bado yuko pamoja nanyi huko Galilaya kwamba:
7 ‘The Son of man must be betrayed into the hands of evil men, be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’”
‘Ilikuwa lazima Mwana wa Adamu atiwe mikononi mwa watu wenye dhambi na waovu ili asulubiwe, na siku ya tatu afufuke.’”
8 Then they remembered what he'd said.
Ndipo wakayakumbuka maneno ya Yesu.
9 When they returned from the tomb they reported all that had happened to the eleven disciples and to all the others.
Waliporudi kutoka huko kaburini, wakawaeleza wale wanafunzi kumi na mmoja pamoja na wengine wote mambo haya yote.
10 Those who told the apostles what had happened were Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and other women with them.
11 But it seemed like nonsense to them, so they didn't believe the women.
12 However, Peter got up and ran to the tomb. Bending down, he looked in and saw only the linen grave-clothes. So he went back home, wondering what had happened.
Hata hivyo, Petro akainuka na kukimbia kwenda kule kaburini. Alipoinama kuchungulia, akaona vile vitambaa vya kitani, ila hakuona kitu kingine. Naye akaenda zake akijiuliza nini kilichotokea.
13 The same day two disciples were on their way to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.
Ikawa siku iyo hiyo, wanafunzi wawili wa Yesu walikuwa njiani wakienda kijiji kilichoitwa Emau, yapata maili saba kutoka Yerusalemu.
14 They were talking about all that had happened.
Walikuwa wakizungumza wao kwa wao kuhusu mambo yote yaliyotukia.
15 As they discussed and debated, Jesus came up and fell into step with them.
Walipokuwa wakizungumza na kujadiliana, Yesu mwenyewe akaja akatembea pamoja nao,
16 But they were kept from recognizing him.
lakini macho yao yakazuiliwa ili wasimtambue.
17 “What are you discussing as you walk along?” he asked them. They stopped, their faces sad.
Akawauliza, “Ni mambo gani haya mnayozungumza wakati mnatembea?” Wakasimama, nyuso zao zikionyesha huzuni.
18 One of them, called Cleopas, replied, “Are you just visiting Jerusalem? You must be the only person who doesn't know the things that have happened in the past few days.”
Mmoja wao, aliyeitwa Kleopa, akamuuliza, “Je, wewe ndiye peke yako mgeni huku Yerusalemu ambaye hufahamu mambo yaliyotukia humo siku hizi?”
19 “What things?” Jesus asked. “About Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “He was a prophet who spoke powerfully and performed great miracles before God and all the people.
Akawauliza, “Mambo gani?”
20 But our high priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death, and they crucified him.
21 We had hoped he was the one who was going to rescue Israel. It's been three days now since all this happened.
22 But then some of the women in our group surprised us.
Walikwenda kaburini leo alfajiri,
23 At dawn they went to the tomb and they didn't find his body. They came back saying that they'd seen a vision of angels who told them he's alive.
24 Some of us went to the tomb, and found it just as the women said—but they didn't see him.”
25 Jesus told them, “You're so dull! How slow you are to trust in all that the prophets said!
26 Didn't the Messiah have to suffer before he could enter into his glory?”
27 Then, starting with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them everything that was said in Scripture about himself.
28 As they approached the village they were going to, Jesus made it seem as if he was going farther.
Nao walipokaribia kile kijiji walichokuwa wakienda, Yesu akawa kama anaendelea mbele.
29 But they urged him, saying, “Please come and stay with us. It's getting late—the day is almost over.” So he went to stay with them.
Basi akaingia ndani kukaa nao.
30 When he sat down to eat with them, he took the bread and gave thanks, broke it, and gave it to them.
Alipokuwa mezani pamoja nao, akachukua mkate, akashukuru, akaumega, akaanza kuwagawia.
31 Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. Then he disappeared from view.
Ndipo macho yao yakafumbuliwa, nao wakamtambua, naye akatoweka machoni pao. Hawakumwona tena.
32 The two disciples said to each other, “Weren't our thoughts on fire when he spoke to us, as he explained the Scriptures to us?”
33 They got up right away and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the eleven disciples and those who were with them meeting together,
Wakaondoka mara, wakarudi Yerusalemu. Wakawakuta wale wanafunzi kumi na mmoja na wale waliokuwa pamoja nao, wamekusanyika
34 who said, “The Lord has really risen again! He has appeared to Simon.”
wakisema, “Ni kweli! Bwana amefufuka, naye amemtokea Simoni.”
35 Then those who had just arrived explained to the other disciples what had happened to them on the road, and how they had recognized Jesus when he broke bread.
Kisha wale wanafunzi wawili wakaeleza yaliyotukia njiani na jinsi walivyomtambua Yesu alipoumega mkate.
36 While they were talking, Jesus himself stood among them, and said, “Peace to you!”
Walipokuwa bado wanazungumza hayo, Yesu mwenyewe akasimama katikati yao, akasema, “Amani iwe nanyi!”
37 They were startled and afraid, thinking they were seeing a ghost.
Wakashtuka na kuogopa wakidhani kwamba wameona mzuka.
38 “Why are you frightened? Why are you doubting?” he asked them.
Lakini Yesu akawauliza, “Kwa nini mnaogopa? Kwa nini mna shaka mioyoni mwenu?
39 “Look at my hands and my feet—you can see it's me. Touch me and you'll be certain, for a spirit doesn't have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
40 Having said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
Aliposema haya, akawaonyesha mikono na miguu yake.
41 But they still couldn't believe it because they were so elated and amazed. He asked them, “Do you have anything to eat?”
Akawauliza, “Mna chakula chochote hapa?”
42 They gave him a piece of cooked fish,
Wakampa kipande cha samaki aliyeokwa,
43 and he took it and ate it in front of them.
naye akakichukua na kukila mbele yao.
44 Then Jesus said to them, “This is what I explained to you while I was still with you. Everything written about me in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms, had to be fulfilled.”
45 Then he opened their minds so they were able to understand the Scriptures.
Ndipo akafungua fahamu zao ili waweze kuyaelewa Maandiko.
46 He told them, “It was written like this: the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and in his name
47 repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.
48 You are witnesses of all this.
Ninyi ni mashahidi wa mambo haya.
49 Now I'm going to send you what my Father promised—but wait in the city until you receive power from heaven.”
“Tazama nitawatumia ahadi ya Baba yangu; lakini kaeni humu mjini hadi mtakapovikwa uwezo utokao juu.”
50 Then he led them out until they were near Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them.
51 While he was blessing them, he left them, and was taken up to heaven.
Alipokuwa anawabariki, akawaacha, akachukuliwa mbinguni.
52 They worshiped him, and then they returned to Jerusalem full of joy.
Kisha wakamwabudu na kurudi Yerusalemu wakiwa wamejawa na furaha kuu.
53 They spent all their time in the Temple praising God.
Nao wakadumu ndani ya Hekalu wakimtukuza Mungu. Amen.
