< Jeremiah 37 >

1 Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon replaced Jehoiachin son of Jehoiakim with Zedekiah son of Josiah as the ruling king of Judah.
Ita, nagturay a kas ari ni Zedekias a putot ni Josias a saan ket a ni Jeconias a putot ni Jehoiakim. Insaad ni Nebucadnesar nga ari ti Babilonia ni Zedekias a kas ari iti entero a daga ti Juda.
2 But Zedekiah and his officers and everyone else in the country refused to obey what the Lord had said through Jeremiah the prophet.
Ngem saan a dimngeg ni Zedekias, dagiti adipenna ken dagiti tattao iti daga, kadagiti sasao ni Yahweh nga impakaammona babaen kadagiti ima ni Jeremias a profeta.
3 However, King Zedekiah sent Jehucal son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the priest, son of Maaseiah, to Jeremiah the prophet with the message, “Please pray to the Lord our God for us!”
Nangipatulod ngarud da ari Zedekias, Jehucal a putot ni Selemias, ken Sofonias a putot ni Maaseias a padi iti mensahe kenni Jeremias a profeta. Kinunada, “Ikararagandakami kenni Yahweh a Diostayo.”
4 (At this time Jeremiah could come and go freely, because as yet they hadn't put him in prison.)
Ita, nawaya pay laeng a makilangen-langen ni Jeremias kadagiti tattao, ta saan pay isuna a naibalud.
5 Pharaoh's army was advancing from Egypt, and when the Babylonian army heard about it, they moved away from Jerusalem.
Rimmuar ti armada ni Faraon iti Egipto, ket nadamag dagiti Caldeo a manglaklakub iti Jerusalem ti maipanggep kadakuada ket pinanawanda ti Jerusalem.
6 Then a message from the Lord came to Jeremiah the prophet:
Ket immay ti sao ni Yahweh kenni Jeremias a profeta a kinunana,
7 This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, instructs you to tell the king of Judah, who sent you to ask me for help: Look! Pharaoh's army, which set out to help you, is going to return home to Egypt.
“Ni Yahweh a Dios ti Israel, kastoy ti kunana: Daytoy ti ibagamto iti ari ti Juda, gapu ta imbaonnaka a dumawat iti balakad manipud kaniak, “Kitaem, ti armada ni Faraon nga immay a tumulong kadakayo, ket pasublin idiay Egipto, a bukodda a daga.
8 Then the Babylonians will return and attack Jerusalem. They will capture it and burn it down.
Agsublinto dagiti Caldeo. Gubatendanto daytoy a siudad, sakupen, ken puorandanto daytoy.
9 This is what the Lord says: Don't fool yourselves by saying, “The Babylonians are gone for good,” because they're not!
Kastoy ti kuna ni Yahweh: Saanyo nga allilawen dagiti bagbagiyo babaen iti panangibagbagayo, 'Awan duadua a panawandatayo dagiti Caldeo,' ta saandanto a pumanaw.
10 In fact, even if you were able to kill the whole Babylonian army attacking you, leaving only wounded men in their tents, they would still get up and burn this city down.
Uray no maparmekyo ti entero nga armada dagiti Caldeo a makiranget kadakayo tapno dagitinto laeng nasugatan a lallaki ti mabati kadagiti toldada, bumangondanto ket puoranda daytoy a siudad.”
11 When the Babylonian army moved away from Jerusalem because of the threat of Pharaoh's army,
Isu nga idi pimmanawen ti armada dagiti Caldeo iti Jerusalem bayat nga um-umay ti armada ni Faraon,
12 Jeremiah was on his way out of Jerusalem to go to his home in the territory of Benjamin to claim his share of his family's property.
ket rimmuar ni Jeremias iti Jerusalem tapno mapan idiay daga ti Benjamin. Kayatna ti mangtagikua iti paset ti daga sadiay, nga isu iti ayan dagiti tattaona.
13 However, when he reached the Benjamin Gate, the guard captain, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah, arrested him, saying, “You're defecting to the Babylonians!”
Bayat iti kaaddana iti Ruangan ti Benjamin, maysa a panguloen dagiti agbanbantay ti adda sadiay. Ti naganna ket Jerias, ket putot isuna ni Selemias a putot ni Hananias. Ginammatanna ni Jeremias a profeta ket kinunana, “Mapanka tumipon kadagiti Caldeo, ania!”
14 “That's not true,” Jeremiah replied. “I'm not defecting to the Babylonians!” But Irijah refused to listen to him. He arrested Jeremiah and took him before the officers.
Ngem kinuna ni Jeremias, “Saan a pudno dayta. Saanak a mapan tumipon kadagiti Caldeo.” Ngem saan a dimngeg ni Jerias kenkuana. Ingguyodna ni Jeremias ket impanna kadagiti opisial.
15 The officers were furious with Jeremiah. They had him beaten and locked up in the house of Jonathan the scribe, which had been turned into a prison.
Nakaunget dagiti opisial kenni Jeremias. Sinapsaplitda ken imbaludda isuna iti balay ni Jonatan nga eskriba, ta pinagbalinda daytoy a pagbaludan.
16 Jeremiah was placed in a cell in the underground dungeon and was kept there for a long time.
Naibalud ngarud ni Jeremias iti pagbaludan nga adda iti uneg ti daga, a nagtalinaedanna iti adu nga al-aldaw.
17 Some while later King Zedekiah secretly sent for him and had him brought to the royal palace where he asked, “Is there a message from Lord for me?” “Yes there is,” Jeremiah replied. “You are going to be handed over to the king of Babylon.”
Ket nangibaon ni Ari Zedekias iti maysa a tao a mangiyeg kenkuana iti palasio. Iti balayna, nalimed a sinaludsod kenkuana ti ari, “Adda kadi sao manipud kenni Yahweh?” Simmungbat ni Jeremias, “Adda iti sao: “Maiyawatkanto iti ima ti ari ti Babilonia.”
18 Then Jeremiah asked King Zedekiah, “What wrong have I done to you or your servants or these people, for you to put me in prison?
Ket kinuna ni Jeremias kenni Ari Zedekias, “Ania ti nakabasolak kenka, kadagiti adipenmo wenno kadagitoy a tattao tapno ibaluddak?
19 Where are your prophets now, the ones who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon won't come and attack you and this country’?
Sadino ti ayan dagiti profetam, dagidiay nagipadto para kenka ken nagkuna a saan nga umay ti ari ti Babilonia a maibusor kenka wenno maibusor iti daytoy a daga?
20 Now please listen to me, my lord the king, and respond positively to my request. Don't send me back to prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe, otherwise I'll die there.”
Ngem ita dumngegka, apok nga ari! Patgam koma dagiti kiddawko iti sangoanam. Saannak koma nga isubli iti balay ni Jonatan nga eskriba, ta no isublinak sadiay, matayak.”
21 King Zedekiah gave the order for Jeremiah to be held in the guard's courtyard and be provided with a loaf of bread every day from a bakery until there was no bread left in the city. So Jeremiah stayed in the guard's courtyard.
Nangted ngarud ni Zedekias iti bilin. Inkabil dagiti adipenna ni Jeremias iti paraangan nga ayan dagiti agbanbantay. Inaldaw a maik-ikkan isuna iti tinapay manipud iti kalsada dagiti panadero, agingga a naibus dagiti tinapay iti siudad. Nagtalinaed ngarud ni Jeremias iti paraangan nga ayan dagiti agbanbantay.
