Isaiah 39
1 At the same time Merodach-baladan, son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, because he had heard that Hezekiah was sick and had recovered.
En aquel tiempo, Merodac-baladán, hijo de Baladán, rey de Babilonia, envió cartas y un regalo a Ezequías, pues se enteró de que había estado enfermo y se había recuperado.
2 Hezekiah happily welcomed the visitors and showed them what he had in his treasury—all the silver, the gold, the spices, and the expensive oils. He also showed them his whole armory and all that he had in his storehouses. In fact there wasn't anything in his palace or in the whole of his kingdom that Hezekiah didn't show them.
Ezequías se alegró de ellos, y les mostró la casa de sus cosas preciosas, la plata, el oro, las especias y el aceite precioso, y toda la casa de su armadura, y todo lo que se encontraba en sus tesoros. No había nada en su casa, ni en todo su dominio, que Ezequías no les mostrara.
3 Then the prophet Isaiah went to King Hezekiah and asked him, “Where did those men come from, and what did they tell you?” “They came to see me from a long way away, from Babylon,” Hezekiah replied.
Entonces el profeta Isaías se acercó al rey Ezequías y le preguntó: “¿Qué han dicho estos hombres? ¿De dónde vinieron a ti?” Ezequías dijo: “Han venido de un país lejano a mí, incluso de Babilonia”.
4 “What did they see in your palace?” Isaiah asked. “They saw everything in my palace,” replied Hezekiah. “There wasn't anything in all my storehouses I didn't show them.”
Entonces preguntó: “¿Qué han visto en tu casa?” Ezequías respondió: “Han visto todo lo que hay en mi casa. No hay nada entre mis tesoros que no les haya mostrado”.
5 Isaiah told Hezekiah, “Listen to what the Lord says:
Entonces Isaías dijo a Ezequías: “Escucha la palabra de Yahvé de los Ejércitos:
6 You can be certain that the time is coming when everything in your palace, and everything that your forefathers have saved up until now, will be taken away to Babylon. There will be nothing left, says the Lord.
‘He aquí que vienen días en que todo lo que hay en tu casa, y lo que tus padres han almacenado hasta hoy, será llevado a Babilonia. No quedará nada’, dice el Señor.
7 Some of your sons, your own offspring, will be taken to serve as eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
‘Se llevarán a tus hijos que saldrán de ti, a los que engendrarás, y serán eunucos en el palacio del rey de Babilonia’”.
8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The message from the Lord that you have told me is fine.” For he said to himself, “There'll definitely be peace and safety in my lifetime.”
Entonces Ezequías dijo a Isaías: “La palabra de Yahvé que has dicho es buena”. Dijo además: “Porque habrá paz y verdad en mis días”.
