< Isaiah 13 >

1 This is the message Isaiah, son of Amoz, received about Babylon.
Raajii waaʼee Baabilon kan Isaayyaas ilmi Amoos arge:
2 Set up a banner on a bare hilltop; shout out to them; wave your hand to encourage them to enter the palaces of princes.
Tulluu homaa itti hin biqilin irratti faajjii ol kaasaatii isaanitti iyyaa; akka isaan karra namoota bebeekamootiin ol galaniif harkaan itti himaa.
3 I have ordered the ones I have chosen to attack; I have called my warriors to execute my furious judgment and to celebrate my triumph.
Ani qulqulloota koo ajajeera; akka isaan dheekkamsa koo hojii irra naa oolchaniif ani loltoota koo kanneen moʼannoo kootti gammadan waammadheera.
4 A noise comes from the mountains, sounding like that of a huge crowd! It's the roaring sound from the kingdoms, from nations gathering together! The Lord Almighty is calling up an army for war.
Waca tulluuwwan irraa, kan akka tuuta guddaa tokkoo dhaggeeffadhaa! Guungummii mootummootaa kan saboota walitti qabamanii dhaggeeffadhaa! Waaqayyoon Waan Hunda Dandaʼu lolaaf jedhee loltoota qopheeffachaa jira!
5 They are coming from distant lands, from beyond the far horizons—the Lord and the weapons of his fury—coming to destroy the whole country.
Isaan biyya fagoodhaa daarii samiiwwaniitii dhufan; Waaqayyoo fi miʼa lolaa kan dheekkamsa isaatiin guutummaa biyyattii balleessuuf dhufu.
6 Howl in fear, for the day of the Lord is approaching—the time when the Almighty destroys.
Waan guyyaan Waaqayyoo dhiʼaateef booʼaa; guyyaan sun akkuma badiisa Waaqa Waan Hunda Dandaʼu biraa ergameetti ni dhufa.
7 Everyone's hands will fall limp, and everyone will lose their minds in panic.
Kanaafuu harki hundinuu ni laamshaʼa; onneen nama hundaas ni baqa.
8 They will be terrified; pain and anguish will seize them; they will suffer like a woman giving birth. They will look in shock at each other, their faces burning in fear.
Sodaan isaan qabata; dhukkubbii fi gaddi isaan qabata; akkuma dubartii ciniinsuun qabeetti wixxirfatu. Isaan rifatanii wal ilaalu; fuulli isaanii akka ibiddaa diimata.
9 Look! The day of the Lord is coming—cruel, with fury and fierce anger—to devastate the land and to wipe out its sinners.
Kunoo guyyaan Waaqayyoo, guyyaan hamaan, dheekkamsaa fi aarii sodaachisaadhaan, lafa onsuu fi cubbamoota ishee keessa jiraatan barbadeessuuf ni dhufa.
10 The stars in the constellations of heaven above will not shine. When the sun rises it will stay dark. The moon will give no light.
Urjiiwwan samiitii fi tuunni isaanii ifa isaanii hin kennan. Aduun baatu ni dukkanoofti; jiʼis ifa ishee hin kennitu.
11 I will punish the world for its evil, and the wicked for their sin, says the Lord. I will put an end to the conceit of the arrogant, and I will humiliate tyrants and their pride.
Ani addunyaa kana sababii jalʼina isaatiif, hamoota sababii cubbuu isaaniitiif nan adaba. Ani of tuulummaa of jajjootaa nan balleessa; of guddisuu gara jabeeyyii illee gadin deebisa.
12 I will make people scarcer than pure gold, rarer than the gold of Ophir.
Ani akka namni warqee qulqulluu caalaa gati qabeessa, warqee Oofiir caalaas muraasa taʼu nan godha.
13 So I will shake the heavens and make the earth jump out of its place because of the fury of the Lord Almighty, at the time when his anger burns.
Kanaafuu ani akka samiiwwan hollatan nan godha; gaafa aariin isaa bobaʼutti dheekkamsa Waaqayyoo Waan Hunda Dandaʼuutiin lafti iddoo isheetii ni raafamti.
14 Like a gazelle being hunted, or like sheep without a shepherd, the Babylonians will return to their own people, they will run away to their own land.
Namni hundinuu akkuma kuruphee adamsamtuu, akkuma hoolota tiksee hin qabnee gara saba isaatti deebiʼa; namni kam iyyuu biyya isaatti baqata.
15 Anyone who is captured will be stabbed to death; anyone who is caught will be killed by the sword.
Namni boojiʼame hundinuu ni waraanama; kan qabame kam iyyuu goraadeedhaan duʼa.
16 Their little children will be dashed to pieces as they watch, their houses will be looted, and their wives will be raped.
Daaʼimman isaanii fuuluma isaanii duratti ni cicciramu; manneen isaanii ni saamamu; niitonni isaaniis humnaan gudeedamu.
17 I'm going to get the Medes to attack them, people who don't care about silver or gold.
Kunoo ani warra Meedee kanneen meetii irraa dhimma hin qabne warra warqeen hin gammachiifne jarattin kakaasa.
18 Their bows will slaughter their young men; they will show no mercy to babies; they will have no pity on children.
Iddaan isaanii dargaggoota fixxi; isaan daaʼimmaniif hin naʼan; ijoolleefis garaa hin laafan.
19 Babylon, the most marvelous city of any kingdom, the greatest pride of the Babylonian people, will be demolished by God like Sodom and Gomorrah.
Baabilon ulfinni moototaa, miidhaginni of jaja warra Baabilon akkuma Sodoomii fi Gomoraa irree Waaqaatiin garagalfamti.
20 No one will ever live in Babylon again. It will be deserted—no desert nomad will set up a tent there, no shepherd will bring a flock to rest there.
Namni ishee keessa hin qubatu; yookaan dhaloota hunda keessatti namni ishee keessa hin jiraatu; namni Arabaa tokko iyyuu dunkaana isaa achi hin dhaabbatu; tikseen tokko iyyuu bushaayee isaa achi hin boqochiifattu.
21 Only desert animals will make their homes there, and the ruined houses will be inhabited by wild dogs. Owls will live there, and wild goats will leap around.
Garuu bineensonni bosonaa achi ciciisu; waangoowwan mana ishee ni guutu; urunguun achi jiraatti; reʼeen diidaa achi keessa buburraaqxi.
22 Hyenas will howl in her fortresses and jackals in her lavish palaces. Babylon's time is coming soon—they will not last much longer.
Waraabessi daʼannoowwan ishee keessaa yuusa; waangoonis manneen ishee mimmiidhagoo kan mootummaa keessaa iyyiti. Yeroon ishee gaʼeera; barri ishees hin dheeratu.
