Deuteronomy 6

1 These are the commandments and rules and regulations that the Lord your God has ordered me to teach you to follow in the country that you're going to enter and occupy.

১তোমাদেরকে শিক্ষা দেবার জন্যে তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু আমাকে এই আজ্ঞা, বিধি ও শাসন আদেশ করেছেন; যেন তোমরা যে দেশ অধিকার করতে যর্দ্দন পার হয়ে যাচ্ছ, সেই দেশে সে সব পালন কর;

2 This is so you and your children and grandchildren will show respect to the Lord your God throughout your lives by keeping all his rules and regulations that I give you, and so that you may have a long life.

২যেন তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে তুমি ভয় কর, তোমার ছেলে ও তোমার নাতিরা সারাজীবন আমার দেওয়া আদেশ সব পালন কর, এই ভাবে যেন তোমাদের দীর্ঘায়ু হয়।

3 Listen, people of Israel, and be careful to observe them, so that you may do well and have many descendants in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your forefathers, promised you.

৩অতএব হে ইস্রায়েল, শোনো, এ সব পালন কর, তাতে তোমার পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে যেমন বলেছেন, সেই অনুসারে দুধ ও মধু প্রবাহী দেশে তোমার ভালো হবে ও তোমরা বহুগুণ বৃদ্ধি পাবে।

4 Listen, people of Israel, The Lord our God, the Lord is the only one.

৪হে ইস্রায়েল, শোনো; আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু এক;

5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your mind and with all your being and with all your strength.

৫আর তুমি তোমার সমস্ত হৃদয়, তোমার সমস্ত প্রাণ ও তোমার সমস্ত শক্তি দিয়ে তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ভালবাসবে।

6 The commands I'm giving you today must stay in your minds.

৬আর এই যে সব কথা আমি আজ তোমাকে আদেশ করছি, তা তোমার হৃদয়ে থাকবে

7 You are to explain them carefully to your children and talk about them when you're at home and when you're traveling, when you lie down and when you get up.

৭এবং তোমরা তোমাদের ছেলেময়েদেরকে যত্ন সহকারে শিক্ষা দেবে এবং বাড়িতে বসার কিংবা রাস্তায় চলার দিনের এবং শোয়ার দিন কিংবা ঘুম থেকে ওঠার দিনের ঐ সব বিষয়ে কথাবার্তা বলবে।

8 Tie them on your hands as reminders and put them on your foreheads as well.

৮আর তোমার হাতে চিহ্নের মতো সে সব বেঁধে রাখবে ও সে সব তোমার দুই চোখের মাঝে বেঁধে রাখবে।

9 Write them on the doorposts of your homes and on your gates.

৯আর তোমার ঘরের দরজার কবাটে ও তোমার ফটকে তা লিখে রাখবে।

10 The Lord your God is going to take you into the country he promised to give you and your forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It's a country with large, prosperous towns that you didn't build,

১০তোমার পূর্বপুরুষ অব্রাহামের, ইস্‌হাকের ও যাকোবের কাছে তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে যে দেশ দিতে শপথ করেছেন, সে দেশে তিনি তোমাকে নিয়ে গেলে পর তুমি যা নির্মাণ করনি, এমন বিশাল ও সুন্দর শহর

11 with houses full of plenty of good things that you didn't provide, that have wells you didn't dig, and vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant. When you eat and are full

১১এবং যাতে কিছুই সঞ্চয় করনি, ভালো ভালো জিনিসে পরিপূর্ণ এমন সব বাড়ি যা তৈরী করনি, এমন সব কুয়ো যা খনন করনি, এমন সব আঙ্গুরক্ষেত ও জিত গাছ যা রোপণ করনি, তুমি খাবে এবং সন্তুষ্ট হবে,

12 make sure you don't forget the Lord who led you out of Egypt, out of the prison-house of slavery.

১২তারপর সাবধান থেকো যেন তুমি সদাপ্রভুকে ভুলে না যাও, যিনি মিশর দেশ থেকে, দাসত্বের বাড়ি থেকে, তোমাকে বের করে এনেছেন।

13 Respect the Lord your God only worship him, and only make promises in his name.

১৩তুমি তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকেই সম্মান করবে, তাঁরই উপাসনা করবে ও তাঁরই নামে শপথ করবে।

14 Don't worship any other gods, the gods of the peoples around you,

১৪তোমরা অন্য দেবতাদের, চারদিকের জাতিদের দেবতাদের অনুসারী হয়ো না;

15 because the Lord your God, who lives among you, is an exclusive God, and Lord your God will become angry with you, and he will wipe you out.

১৫কারণ তোমার মাঝে তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু স্ব গৌরব রক্ষণশীল ঈশ্বর পাছে তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর রাগ তোমার বিরুদ্ধে জ্বলে ওঠে, আর তিনি পৃথিবী থেকে তোমাকে ধ্বংস করেন।

16 Don't test the Lord your God like you did at Massah.

১৬তোমরা মঃসাতে যেমন করেছিলে, তেমনি তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর পরীক্ষা কর না।

17 You must be careful to keep the commandments of the Lord your God and the laws and rules he's given you.

১৭তোমরা তোমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর আজ্ঞা, সাক্ষ্য ও বিধি সকল যত্ন সহকারে পালন করবে।

18 Do what's good and right in the Lord's sight so that it will go well for you and that you may enter and take over the good land that the Lord your God promised to give your forefathers,

১৮আর সদাপ্রভুর দৃষ্টিতে যা সঠিক ও ভালো, তাই করবে, যেন তোমার ভালো হয়; এবং সদাপ্রভু যে দেশের বিষয়ে তোমার পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে এই শপথ করেছেন যে, তিনি তোমার সামনে থেকে তোমার সমস্ত শত্রুকে তাড়িয়ে দেবেন,

19 He will drive out all your enemies ahead of you, just as he said.

১৯যেন তুমি সদাপ্রভুর কথা অনুসারে সেই উত্তম দেশে প্রবেশ করে তা অধিকার করতে পার।

20 In the future, when your children come and ask you, “What's the point of decrees and rules and regulations that the Lord our God ordered you to follow?”

২০আগামী দিনের যখন তোমার ছেলে জিজ্ঞাসা করবে, “আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাদেরকে যে সব সাক্ষ্য, বিধি ও শাসন আদেশ করেছেন, সে সবের অর্থ কি?”

21 then you are to tell them, “Once we were slaves of Pharaoh in Egypt, but the Lord by his power led us out of Egypt.

২১তখন তুমি তোমার ছেলেকে বলবে, “আমরা মিশর দেশে ফরৌণের দাস ছিলাম, আর সদাপ্রভু শক্তিশালী হাতে মিশর থেকে আমাদের বের করে এনেছেন

22 Before our very eyes the Lord brought down incredible and terrifying signs and miracles on Egypt, on Pharaoh, and on all his people.

২২এবং আমাদের সামনে সদাপ্রভু মিশরে, ফরৌণে ও তাঁর সমস্ত বংশে মহৎ ও কষ্টকর নানা চিহ্ন ও অদ্ভুত লক্ষণ দেখালেন

23 But he led us out of there to take us here, giving us this country that he had promised to our forefathers.

২৩এবং তিনি আমাদেরকে সেখান থেকে বের করে এনেছেন, যেন তিনি আমাদেরকে নিয়ে আসেন, যেন আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের কাছে যে দেশ দেবার জন্য শপথ করেছিলেন।

24 The Lord ordered us to keep all these laws and to respect the Lord our God, so that we would always be safe and well, as we are today

২৪আর সদাপ্রভু আমাদেরকে এই সমস্ত বিধি পালন করতে, আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ভয় করতে আজ্ঞা করলেন, যেন সারাজীবন আমাদের ভালো হয়, আর তিনি আজকের মত যেন আমাদেরকে জীবন্ত রাখেন।

25 And if we carefully observe each of these commandments as we live in the presence of the Lord, as he instructed us, then we will be right with him.”

২৫যদি আমরা আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ অনুসারে তাঁর সামনে এই সমস্ত বিধি পালন করলে আমাদের ধার্ম্মিকতা হবে।”
