Acts 23
1 Paul, looking sraight at the council, said, “Brothers, right up to now I have always conducted myself before God with a clear conscience.”
Ug si Pablo, sa nagtutok siya sa Sanhedrin, miingon, "Mga igsoon, sa atubangan sa Dios nagakinabuhi ako diha sa bug-os nga maayong kaisipan hangtud niining adlawa."
2 Ananias the high priest ordered the officers standing beside Paul to hit him on the mouth.
Ug ang labawng sacerdote nga si Ananias misugo kanila nga nagtindog tupad kang Pablo sa pagsagpa sa iyang baba.
3 Paul said to him, “God will hit you, you whitewashed wall! You're sitting there to judge me according to the law, and you order me to be hit in contravention of the law!”
Unya si Pablo miingon kaniya, "Sa Dios pagasagpaon ikaw, pinaputi nga bongbong! Nagalingkod ikaw diha aron kono sa paghukom kanako subay sa balaod, ug unya imo akong ipasagpa supak sa balaod?"
4 The officers standing beside Paul said, “How dare you insult the high priest!”
Ug sila nga nagtindog sa iyang tupad miingon kaniya, "Mopasipala ka ba diayg sulti batok sa labawng sacerdote sa Dios?"
5 “Brothers, I didn't know that he was the high priest,” Paul replied. “As Scriptures say, ‘You must not speak evil of any ruler of your people.’”
Ug si Pablo mitubag, "Mga igsoon, wala ako makaila nga siya diay labawng sacerdote; ug tuod nahisulat man, `Dili ka magsultig dautan batok sa punoan sa imong katawhan.'"
6 When Paul realized that some of the council were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, he shouted out, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee! I'm on trial because of my hope in the resurrection of the dead!”
Apan sa pagkamatikod ni Pablo nga usa ka bahin kanila mga Saduceo ug ang usa mga Fariseo, siya misinggit sa Sanhedrin, "Mga igsoon, ako Fariseo, anak sa mga Fariseo; ug bahin sa paglaum ug sa pagpangabanhaw sa mga patay, ako karon ginahukman."
7 When he said this, a tremendous argument broke out between the Pharisees and Sadducees that split the council.

8 (The Sadducees say there is no resurrection from the dead, no angels, and no spirits, but Pharisees believe in all of these.)
Kay ang mga Saduceo ugod nagaingon man nga walay pagkabanhaw, ni manolunda, ni espiritu; apan ang mga Fariseo nagatoo nga aduna kining tanan.
9 A great commotion erupted and some of the Pharisee teachers of the law stood up and argued fiercely, saying, “We find this man not guilty! Maybe a spirit spoke to him, or an angel!”
Ug nahitabo ang makusog nga sininggitay; ug pipila sa mga escriba sa pundok sa mga Fariseo nanindog ug nakigbisug nga nanag-ingon, "Wala kamiy nakitang dautan niining tawhana. Pananglitan tinuod nga may espiritu o manolunda nga nakigsulti kaniya, unsa man?"
10 The argument was getting out of hand, so the commander, concerned that they would tear Paul to pieces, ordered the soldiers to go and rescue him from them by force, and take him back into the fortress.
Ug sa diha nga misamot kainit ang panaglalisay, ang koronil nga nahadlok nga ilang koniskonison si Pablo, misugo sa mga sundalo sa pagkanaug ug sa pagsakmit kaniya gikan kanila ug sa pagdala kaniya ngadto sa kuta.
11 Afterwards, during the night, the Lord stood by Paul, and told him, “Keep up your courage! Just as you have given your testimony about me in Jerusalem, so you must be my witness in Rome as well.”
Ug sa pagkagabii niana, ang Ginoo mitungha kaniya ug miingon, "Sumalig ka, kay maingon nga nanghimatuod ikaw kanako sa Jerusalem, kinahanglan nga manghimatuod usab ikaw didto sa Roma."
12 Next day some Jews plotted together, and they took an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul.
Ug sa pagkabuntag na, ang mga Judio naghimog usa ka panagsabut, ug ubos sa panumpa nagsinaaray sa dili na pagkaon ni pag-inom hangtud ilang mapatay si Pablo.
13 Over forty were part of this conspiracy.

14 They went to the chief priests and leaders and said, “We have taken a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul.
Ug nangadto sila sa mga sacerdote nga punoan ug sa mga anciano, ug miingon kanila, "Ubos sa panumpa, nagsinaaray kami sa mapiuton gayud sa dili na pagtilaw sa bisan unsang pagkaon hangtud among mapatay si Pablo.
15 So you and the council should send word to the commander that he should bring Paul down to meet with you, as if you wanted to examine his case in more detail. We're ready to kill him along the way.”

16 But Paul's nephew (his sister's son) heard about their planned ambush, and he went into the fortress and told Paul about it.
Apan ang lalaking anak sa babayeng igsoon ni Pablo nakadungog mahitungod niining ilang banhig; busa miadto siya ug misaka sa kuta ug iyang gisuginlan niini si Pablo.
17 Paul called over one of the centurions, and told him, “Take this young man to the commander, because he has some information to share with him.”
Ug gitawag ni Pablo ang usa sa mga kapitan ug miingon kaniya, "Dad-a kining batan-on ngadto sa koronil, kay aduna siyay isugilon kaniya."
18 So the centurion took Paul's nephew and brought him to the commander and told him, “The prisoner Paul called me over and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has something to tell you.”
Ug iyang gikuha ug gidala siya ngadto sa koronil, ug miingon, "Si Pablo, ang binilanggo, mitawag kanako ug mihangyo nga dad-on ko kanimo kining batan-on, kay aduna kono siyay isugilon kanimo."
19 The commander took the young man by the hand and drew him aside. “What do you have to tell me?” he asked quietly.

20 “The Jews have arranged to ask you to bring Paul to the council tomorrow, as if they wanted to ask more detailed questions about his case,” he explained.

21 “Please don't listen to them, because they have planned to ambush him with more than forty men who have taken an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him. They're ready right now, waiting for you to agree to the request.”
Apan ayaw sila pagtoohi, kay kapin sa kap-atan sa ilang mga tawo anaa nagabanhig karon kaniya, ug kini sila ubos sa panumpa nagsinaaray sa dili na pagkaon ni pag-inom hangtud ilang mapatay siya; ug karon andam na sila, nga nagapaabut sa imong pag-uyon."
22 The commander sent the young man on his way, warning him, “Don't tell anyone that you've told me about this.”
Ug ang batan-on gipapauli sa koronil, gipinahan niya nga nag-ingon, "Ayaw baya pagsulti kang bisan kinsa nga imo akong gikasuginlan niini."
23 He summoned two centurions and told them, “Get two hundred soldiers ready to go to Caesarea, together with seventy cavalry-men and two hundred spearmen. Be ready to leave at nine p.m. tonight.
Unya iyang gitawag ang duha sa mga kapitan ug miingon siya kanila, "Andama ninyo ang duha ka gatus ka mga sundalo sa paglakaw paingon sa Cesarea sa ikasiyam ang takna karong gabii, dala ang kapitoan nga managkabayo, ug duha ka gatus ka mga magbabangkaw.
24 Provide horses for Paul to ride to make sure he gets to Governor Felix safely.”
Ug usab pagtagana kamog mga kabayo nga kasakyan ni Pablo, ug ayoha siya ninyo paghatud ngadto kang Felix nga gobernador."
25 He also wrote a letter that went like this:
Ug nagsulat siyag usa ka sulat nga ingon niini:
26 “From Claudius Lysias to His Excellency Governor Felix, greetings!
"Si Claudio Lisias ngadto sa iyang Kahalangdon Gobernador Felix, komusta!
27 This man was seized by the Jews and they were about to kill him, when I arrived on the scene with soldiers and rescued him, because I had found out he was a Roman citizen.
Kining tawhana gipanagdakop sa mga Judio ug hapit na unta patyon nila, sa diha nga uban sa mga sundalo hing-abtan ko sila ug gitabang ko kini siya, sa nahibaloan ko nga siya usa diay ka siyudadano nga Romanhon.
28 I wanted to know the reason for their accusations, so I took him before their council.
Ug sanglit buot man ako pakisayud sa pasikaranan sa ilang sumbong batok kaniya, gidala ko siya ngadto sa ilang Sanhedrin.
29 I found out the charges against him had to do with issues regarding their law, but he was not guilty of anything that merited death or imprisonment.
Ug akong nasuta nga siya gisumbong mahitungod diay sa pipila ka mga butang labut sa ilang kasugoan, apan nga walay gikasumbong batok kaniya nga takus sa kamatayon o sa bilanggoan.
30 When I discovered a plot against this man I sent him to you right away, ordering his accusers to make their complaints before you.”
Ug kay gikasugilon man kanako nga dihay himoon nga panagsabut batok niining tawhana, gipadala ko siya kanimo dihadiha, dungan ang pagsugo sa iyang mga magsusumbong usab nga kinahanglan ilang ipahayag sa imong atubangan ang ilang sumbong batok kaniya."
31 So the soldiers followed their orders and took Paul overnight to Antipatris.
Ug si Pablo gikuha sa mga sundalo sumala sa gisugo kanila, ug sa takna sa kagabhion ilang gidala siya ngadto sa Antipatrida.
32 The next morning they sent him on with the cavalry, and went back to the fortress.
Ug sa pagkabuntag namauli sila ngadto sa kuta, nga nagbilin sa mga nanagkabayo sa pagpadayon sa pagpanaw uban kaniya.
33 When the cavalry arrived at Caesarea they delivered the letter to the governor and brought Paul before him.
Ug sa pag-abut nila sa Cesarea ug gikatunol ang sulat ngadto sa gobernador, si Pablo usab ilang gipaatubang kaniya.
34 After reading the letter, the governor asked Paul what province he came from. When he learned he was from Cilicia he told Paul,
Ug sa pagkabasa niya sa sulat, si Felix nangutana kaniya kon tagadiin siyang lalawigana. Ug sa iyang pagkasayud nga siya taga-Cilicia,
35 “I will investigate your case when your accusers arrive.” He ordered Paul detained in Herod's palace.
