1 Corinthians 14
1 Make love your most important objective! But also do your best to gain spiritual gifts, especially the ability to speak God's message.
Segui a caridade, e procurai com zelo os dons espirituais, mas principalmente o de profetizar.
2 Those who speak in a tongue are not talking to people, but to God, because nobody can understand them as they speak mysteries in the Spirit.
Porque o que fala língua estranha não fala aos homens, senão a Deus; porque ninguém o entende, e em espírito fala de mistérios.
3 However, the words of those who speak for God build people up—they provide encouragement and comfort.
Mas o que profetiza fala aos homens para edificação, exortação e consolação.
4 Those that speak in a tongue only build themselves up, but those who speak God's message build up the church. I would like it if you all spoke in tongues, but I'd prefer if you could speak God's message.
O que fala língua estranha edifica-se a si mesmo, mas o que profetiza edifica a igreja.
5 Those who speak for God are more important than those who speak in tongues, unless they interpret what's been said, so that the church can be built up.
E eu quero que todos vós faleis línguas estranhas, mas muito mais que profetizeis, porque o que profetiza é maior do que o que fala línguas estranhas, a não ser que também intérprete, para que a igreja receba edificação.
6 Brothers and sisters, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what benefit would I be to you unless I bring you some revelation, or knowledge, or prophetic message, or teaching?
E agora, irmãos, se eu for ter convosco falando línguas estranhas, que vos aproveitaria, se vos não falasse ou por meio da revelação, ou da ciência, ou da profecia, ou da doutrina?
7 Even when it comes to something non-living such as musical instruments like a flute or a harp: if they don't produce clear notes, how will you know what tune is being played?
Da mesma sorte, se as coisas inanimadas, que fazem sonido, seja flauta, seja Cithara, não formarem sons distintos, como se saberá o que se toca com a flauta ou com a Cithara?
8 Similarly, if the trumpet doesn't give a clear sound, who will get ready for battle?
Porque, se a trombeta der sonido incerto, quem se preparará para a batalha?
9 It's the same situation for you—unless you speak using words that are easy to understand, who will know what you're saying? What you say will be lost on the wind.
Assim também vós, se com a língua não pronunciardes palavras bem inteligíveis, como se entenderá o que se diz? porque estareis como que falando ao ar
10 There are surely many languages in this world, and there is meaning in every one of them.
Há, por exemplo, tantos gêneros de vozes no mundo, e nenhuma delas é sem significação.
11 If I don't understand the language, those who speak make no sense to me, and I make no sense to them.
Porém, se eu ignorar o sentido da voz, serei bárbaro para aquele a quem falo, e o que fala será bárbaro para mim.
12 It's the same for you—if you are keen to have spiritual gifts, try to have many of those that will build up the church.
Assim também vós, pois que desejais dons espirituais, procurai abundar neles, para edificação da igreja.
13 Anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that they're able to translate what they say.
Pelo que, o que fala língua estranha, ore para que possa interpretar.
14 For if I pray out loud in a tongue, my spirit is praying, but it does nothing for my understanding!
Porque, se eu orar em língua estranha, o meu espírito ora bem, mas o meu entendimento fica sem fruto.
15 So then, what should I do? I will pray “in the Spirit,” but I will pray with my mind too. I will sing “in the Spirit,” but I will sing with my mind too.
Que farei pois? Orarei com o espírito, mas também orarei com o entendimento; cantarei com o espírito, mas também cantarei com o entendimento.
16 For if you only pray “in the Spirit,” how can ordinary people that don't have understanding say “Amen” after your prayer of thanks, since they haven't a clue what you said?
Doutra maneira, se tu bendisseres com o espírito, como dirá o que ocupa o lugar de indouto, o amém, sobre a tua benção, visto que não sabe o que dizes?
17 You might have said a great prayer of thanks, but the other hasn't been helped!
Porque realmente tu dás bem as graças, mas o outro não é edificado.
18 I thank God that I can speak in tongues more than all of you.
Dou graças ao meu Deus, que falo mais línguas do que vós todos.
19 But in church I would rather speak five understandable words to teach others than ten thousand words in a tongue nobody understands.
Porém eu antes quero falar na igreja cinco palavras na minha inteligência, para que possa também instruir os outros, do que dez mil palavras em língua estranha.
20 Brothers and sisters, don't think like children. Be as innocent as babies in regard to evil, but be grown up in your understanding.
Irmãos, não sejais meninos no entendimento, mas sede meninos na malícia, e adultos no entendimento.
21 As Scripture records, “‘I will speak to my people through other languages and the lips of foreigners, but even then they won't listen to me,’ says the Lord.”
Está escrito na lei: Por gente de outras línguas, e por outros lábios, falarei a este povo; e ainda assim me não ouvirão, diz o Senhor.
22 Speaking in tongues is a sign, not to believers, but those who don't believe. Speaking God's prophetic message is the opposite: it is not for those who don't believe, but for believers.
De sorte que as línguas estranhas são um sinal, não para os fieis, mas para os infieis; e a profecia, não para os infieis, mas para os fieis.
23 If the whole church is meeting together and you are all speaking in tongues, and some people come in who don't understand, or people who don't believe, won't they say that you are insane?
Se pois toda a igreja se congregar num lugar, e todos falarem línguas estranhas, e entrarem indoutos ou infieis, não dirão porventura que estais loucos?
24 But if everyone is speaking God's message, and someone comes in who isn't a believer, or someone who doesn't understand, they will be convinced and called to account by everyone's words.
Mas, se todos profetizarem, e algum indouto ou infiel entrar, de todos é convencido, de todos é julgado.
25 Their secrets throughts will be revealed, so they will fall to their knees and worship God, affirming that God is truly among you.
E assim os segredos do seu coração ficarão manifestos, e assim, lançando-se sobre o seu rosto, adorará a Deus, publicando que Deus está verdadeiramente entre vós.
26 So then, brothers and sisters, what should you do? When you meet together, different people will sing, or teach, or share a special message, or speak in a tongue, or give an interpretation. But everything should be done to build up and encourage the church.
Que fareis pois, irmãos? Quando vos ajuntais, cada um de vós tem salmo, tem doutrina, tem língua estranha, tem revelação, tem interpretação. Faça-se tudo para edificação.
27 If anyone wants to speak in a tongue, make it just two, or three at the most, taking turns, and someone should interpret what is said.
E, se alguém falar língua estranha, faça-se isso por dois, ou quando muito três, e por vezes, e um intérprete.
28 If there's no one there to interpret, those who speak in tongues should keep quiet in church and only speak to themselves, and God.
Mas, se não houver intérprete, esteja calado na igreja; porém, fale consigo mesmo, e com Deus.
29 Similarly, have two or three of those who give God's prophetic message speak, and let everyone else think about what was said.
E falem dois ou três profetas, e os outros julguem.
30 However, if a special revelation comes to someone who is sitting down, then the first speaker should give way to them.
Porém, se a outro, que estiver assentado, for revelada alguma coisa, cale-se o primeiro.
31 You can all speak for God, one at a time, so that everyone can learn and be encouraged.
Porque todos podereis profetizar, uns depois dos outros; para que todos aprendam, e todos sejam consolados.
32 It is for those who speak for God to control their prophetic inspiration,
E os espíritos dos profetas estão sujeitos aos profetas.
33 for God is not a God of disorder but of peace and quiet. This is the way it should be in all the churches of God's people.
Porque Deus não é Deus de confusão, senão de paz, como em todas as igrejas dos santos.
34 “Women should stay quiet in the churches—they shouldn't speak. They should respect their situation, as the laws states.
As vossas mulheres estejam caladas nas igrejas; porque lhes não é permitido falar, mas estejam sujeitas, como também ordena a lei.
35 If they want to learn they can do so at home, asking their husbands. It is not proper for women to speak in church.”
E, se querem aprender alguma coisa, interroguem em casa a seus próprios maridos; porque é indecente que as mulheres falem na igreja.
36 What? Did the word of God begin with you? Are you the only ones it came to?
Porventura saiu dentre vós a palavra de Deus? Ou veio ela somente para vós?
37 Anyone who thinks they are a prophet, or that they have some spiritual gift, should be aware that what I'm writing to you is a command of the Lord.
Se alguém cuida ser profeta, ou espiritual, reconheça que as coisas que vos escrevo são mandamentos do Senhor.
38 Those who ignore this will themselves be ignored.
Se alguém, porém, o ignora, ignore.
39 So my brothers and sisters, make it your aim to speak for God. Don't prohibit speaking in tongues.
Portanto, irmãos, procurai, com zelo, profetizar, e não proibais falar línguas.
40 Just make sure everything done is done properly and in an orderly manner.
Mas faça-se tudo decentemente e com ordem.
