< Luke 3 >

1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, while his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
Ní ọdún kẹ́ẹ̀dógún ìjọba Tiberiu Kesari, nígbà tí Pọntiu Pilatu jẹ́ baálẹ̀ Judea, tí Herodu sì jẹ́ tetrarki Galili, Filipi arákùnrin rẹ̀ sì jẹ́ tetrarki Iturea àti ti Trakoniti, Lisania sì jẹ́ tetrarki Abilene,
2 during the high priesthood of Annas (also Caiaphas), the word of God came upon John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
tí Annasi òun Kaiafa ń ṣe olórí àwọn àlùfáà, nígbà náà ni ọ̀rọ̀ Ọlọ́run tọ Johanu ọmọ Sekariah wá ní ijù.
3 So he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins;
Ó sì wá sí gbogbo ilẹ̀ aginjù Jordani, ó ń wàásù ìtẹ̀bọmi ìrònúpìwàdà fún ìmúkúrò ẹ̀ṣẹ̀,
4 as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: “A voice calling out: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness, make His paths straight.
bí a ti kọ ọ́ nínú ìwé ọ̀rọ̀ wòlíì Isaiah pé, “Ohùn ẹni tí ń kígbe ní ijù, ‘Ẹ tún ọ̀nà Olúwa ṣe, ẹ mú ipa ọ̀nà rẹ̀ tọ́.
5 Every ravine will be filled up, and every mountain and hill will be leveled; the crooked parts of the roads will be straightened out, and the rough parts will be smoothed out;
Gbogbo ọ̀gbun ni a yóò kún, gbogbo òkè ńlá àti òkè kékeré ni a ó tẹ́ pẹẹrẹ. Wíwọ́ ni a ó ṣe ní títọ́, àti ọ̀nà gbọ́ngungbọ̀ngun ni a o sọ di dídán.
6 and all flesh will see the salvation of God.’”
Gbogbo ènìyàn ni yóò sì rí ìgbàlà Ọlọ́run.’”
7 Then he said to the crowds that were coming out to be baptized by him: “You sons of poisonous snakes! Who tipped you off to flee from the coming wrath?
Nígbà náà ni ó wí fún ọ̀pọ̀ àwọn ènìyàn tí ó wá láti ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ̀yin ìran paramọ́lẹ̀, ta ni ó kìlọ̀ fún un yín láti sá kúrò nínú ìbínú tí ń bọ̀?
8 Well then, produce fruits befitting repentance, and don't even begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as father,’ because I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!
Nítorí náà kí ẹ̀yin kí ó so èso tí ó yẹ fún ìrònúpìwàdà, kí ẹ má sì ṣe sí í wí nínú ara yín pé, ‘Àwa ní Abrahamu ní baba.’ Kí èmi kí ó wí fún un yín, Ọlọ́run lè gbé ọmọ dìde fún Abrahamu nínú òkúta wọ̀nyí.
9 But even now the axe is being laid to the root of the trees; so then, every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
Àti nísinsin yìí pẹ̀lú, a fi àáké lé gbòǹgbò igi náà, gbogbo igi tí kò bá so èso rere, a óò ge lulẹ̀, a sì wọ jù sínú iná.”
10 So the people started asking him, “What then must we do?”
Àwọn ènìyàn sì ń bi í pé, “Kí ni kí àwa kí ó ṣe?”
11 In answer he said to them, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food should do likewise.”
Ó dáhùn ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹni tí ó bá ní ẹ̀wù méjì, kí ó fi ọ̀kan fún ẹni tí kò ní; ẹni tí ó bá sì ní oúnjẹ, kí ó ṣe bẹ́ẹ̀ pẹ̀lú.”
12 Well even tax collectors came to be baptized by him and said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?”
Àwọn agbowó òde sì tọ̀ ọ́ wá láti ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n sì bi í pé, “Olùkọ́, kí ni àwa ó ha ṣe?”
13 So He said to them, “Don't charge more than what was determined to you.”
Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ má ṣe fi agbára gbà jù bí a ti rán yín lọ mọ́.”
14 So the soldiers started asking him too: “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Don't extort or harass anyone, and be content with your wages.”
Àwọn ọmọ-ogun sì béèrè lọ́dọ̀ rẹ̀ pé, “Àti àwa, kí ni àwa ó ṣe?” Ó sì wí fún wọn pé, “Ẹ má ṣe hùwà ipá sí ẹnikẹ́ni, kí ẹ má sì ṣe ka ẹ̀sùn èké sí ẹnikẹ́ni; kí òwò ọ̀yà yín tó yín.”
15 Now as the people were expectant and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether he just might be the Messiah,
Bí àwọn ènìyàn sì ti ń retí, tí gbogbo wọn sì ń rò nínú ara wọn nítorí Johanu, bí òun ni Kristi tàbí òun kọ́;
16 John anticipated them all saying: “I indeed am baptizing you with water, but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal straps I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with Holy Spirit and fire;
Johanu dáhùn ó sì wí fún gbogbo wọn pé, “Lóòótọ́ ni èmi ń fi omi bamitiisi yín, ṣùgbọ́n ẹni tí ó lágbára jù mí lọ ń bọ̀, okùn bàtà ẹsẹ̀ ẹni tí èmi kò tó tú, Òun ni yóò fi Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ àti iná bamitiisi yín.
17 whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor and gather the wheat into His barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
Ẹni tí àtẹ rẹ̀ ń bẹ ní ọwọ́ rẹ̀, láti gbá ilẹ̀ ìpakà rẹ̀ mọ́ tó tó, kí ó sì kó alikama rẹ̀ sínú àká; ṣùgbọ́n ìyàngbò ni yóò fi iná àjóòkú sun.”
18 (Indeed, with many other exhortations as well he kept on preaching to the people;
Johanu lo oríṣìíríṣìí ọ̀rọ̀ púpọ̀ láti gba àwọn ènìyàn níyànjú àti láti wàásù ìyìnrere fún wọn.
19 but Herod the tetrarch—being reproved by him concerning Herodias, his brother's wife, as also about all the wicked things that Herod perpetrated—
Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà ti Johanu bú Herodu tetrarki, tí ó bá wí nítorí Herodia aya Filipi arákùnrin rẹ̀, àti nítorí ohun búburú gbogbo tí Herodu tí ṣe,
20 added this also to them all: he actually locked John up in his prison.)
Ó fi èyí parí gbogbo rẹ̀ nígbà tí ó fi Johanu sínú túbú.
21 Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus, having been baptized also, was praying, when the heaven was opened
Nígbà tí a ṣe ìtẹ̀bọmi àwọn ènìyàn gbogbo tán, ó sì ṣe, a bamitiisi Jesu pẹ̀lú, bí ó ti ń gbàdúrà, ọ̀run ṣí sílẹ̀,
22 and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove and rested upon Him, and a Voice came out of heaven saying, “You are my beloved Son; in you I am always well pleased.”
Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ sì sọ̀kalẹ̀ sí orí rẹ̀ ní àwọ̀ àdàbà, ohùn kan sì ti ọ̀run wá, tí ó wí pé, “Ìwọ ni àyànfẹ́ ọmọ mi; ẹni tí inú mi dùn sí gidigidi.”
