< Luke 3 >

1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, while his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Iturea and Trachonitis and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,
Eta Tiberio Cesaren emperadoregoaren hamaborzgarren vrthean, Pontio Pilate Iudeaco gobernadore cenean, eta Herodes Galileaco tetrarcha, eta harén anaye Philippe halaber Iturea eta Trachonite comarcaco tetrarcha, eta Lisania Abilineco tetrarcha,
2 during the high priesthood of Annas (also Caiaphas), the word of God came upon John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
Eta Annas eta Caiphas Sacrificadore subirano ciradenean: eman cequión Iaincoaren hitza Ioannes Zachariasen semeari desertuan.
3 So he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for forgiveness of sins;
Eta ethor cedin Iordanaren inguruco comarca gucira, predicatzen çuela emendamendutaco Baptismoa bekatuén barkamendutan:
4 as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying: “A voice calling out: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness, make His paths straight.
Nola baita scribatua Esaias prophetaren hitzén liburuän, dioela, Desertuan oihuz dagoenaren voza da, Appain eçaçue Iaunaren bidea, plana itzaçue haren bidescác.
5 Every ravine will be filled up, and every mountain and hill will be leveled; the crooked parts of the roads will be straightened out, and the rough parts will be smoothed out;
Haran gucia betheren da, eta mendi eta mendisca gucia beheraturen da, eta makur diraden gauçác chuchenduren dirade, eta bide ikeçuac planaturen,
6 and all flesh will see the salvation of God.’”
Eta ikussiren du haragui guciac Iaincoaren saluagarria.
7 Then he said to the crowds that were coming out to be baptized by him: “You sons of poisonous snakes! Who tipped you off to flee from the coming wrath?
Erraiten cerauen bada harenganic batheya litecençat ethorten ciraden gendetzey, Vipera castá, norc auisatu çaituzte ethorteco den hirari ihes eguiten?
8 Well then, produce fruits befitting repentance, and don't even begin to say among yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as father,’ because I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones!
Eguin itzaçue bada fructu emendamenduaren digneac: eta etzaiteztela has erraiten ceuroc baithan, Abraham dugu aita: ecen badiotsuet, Iaincoac harri hautaric-ere Abrahami haour suscita, ahal dieçaqueola.
9 But even now the axe is being laid to the root of the trees; so then, every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
Bada ia aizcora-ere arborén errora eçarria da: beraz arbore fructu on eguiten eztuen gucia piccatzen da, eta sura egoizten.
10 So the people started asking him, “What then must we do?”
Orduan interroga ceçaten gendetzéc, cioitela, Cer eguinen dugu beraz?
11 In answer he said to them, “He who has two coats, let him share with him who has none; and he who has food should do likewise.”
Eta ihardesten çuela erran ciecén, Bi arropa dituenac eman bieço eztuenari: eta iatecoric duenac, halaber eguin beça.
12 Well even tax collectors came to be baptized by him and said to him, “Teacher, what must we do?”
Ethor cedin publicanoetaric-ere batheya litecençat: eta erran cieçoten, Magistruá, cer eguinen dugu?
13 So He said to them, “Don't charge more than what was determined to you.”
Eta harc erran ciecén, Deus ordenatu çaiçuen baino guehiago ezteçaçuela erekar.
14 So the soldiers started asking him too: “What about us? What must we do?” He said to them, “Don't extort or harass anyone, and be content with your wages.”
Interroga ceçaten gendarmesec-ere, cioitela, Eta guc cer eguinen dugu? Eta dioste, Nehor ezteçaçuela tormenta, ez iniuria: eta contenta çaitezte çuen gagéz.
15 Now as the people were expectant and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John, whether he just might be the Messiah,
Eta populua beha cegoela, eta guciéc bere bihotzetan pensatzen çutela Ioannesez, eya hura liçatenez Christ,
16 John anticipated them all saying: “I indeed am baptizing you with water, but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal straps I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with Holy Spirit and fire;
Ihardets ceçan Ioannesec, erraiten cerauela guciey, Eguia da nic batheyatzen çaituztet vrez: baina heldu da ni baino borthitzago dena, ceinen çapatetaco hedearen lachatzeco ezpainaiz digne: harc batheyaturen çaituzte Spiritu sainduaz eta suz.
17 whose winnowing shovel is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor and gather the wheat into His barn, but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
Ceinen bahea haren escuan içanen baita, eta garbituren du chahu bere larraina: eta bilduren du bihia bere granerera: baina lastoa choil erreren du bihinere hiltzen ezten suan.
18 (Indeed, with many other exhortations as well he kept on preaching to the people;
Bada anhitz berce gauçaz-ere exhortatzen çuela euangelizatzen ceraucan populuari.
19 but Herod the tetrarch—being reproved by him concerning Herodias, his brother's wife, as also about all the wicked things that Herod perpetrated—
Baina Herodes tetrarcha harçaz reprehenditzen cenean, Herodias bere anaye Philipperen emazteagatic, eta berac eguin cituen gaichtaqueria guciacgatic,
20 added this also to them all: he actually locked John up in his prison.)
Eratchequi ceçan haur-ere berce gucién gainera, eçar baitzeçan Ioannes presoindeguian.
21 Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus, having been baptized also, was praying, when the heaven was opened
Eta guertha cedin populu gucia batheyatzen cela, eta Iesus batheyaturic othoiztez cegoela, irequi baitzedin cerua:
22 and the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove and rested upon Him, and a Voice came out of heaven saying, “You are my beloved Son; in you I am always well pleased.”
Eta iauts baitzedin Spiritu saindua forma visibletan vsso columba baten guissán, haren gainera, eta vozbat cerutic eguin baitzedin, cioela, Hi aiz ene Seme maitea, hitan hartzen diat neure atseguin ona.
