Ruth 2
1 Now her husband Elimelech had a kinsman, a powerful man, and very rich, whose name was Booz.
১নয়মীর স্বামী ইলীমেলকের গোষ্ঠীর এক জন ভদ্র ধনী লোক ছিলেন; তাঁর নাম বোয়স।
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said to her mother in law: If thou wilt, I will go into the field, and glean the ears of corn that escape the hands of the reapers, wheresoever I shall find grace with a householder that will be favourable to me. And she answered her: Go, my daughter.
২পরে মোয়াবীয়া রূত নয়মীকে বলল, “অনুরোধ করি, আমি ক্ষেত্রে গিয়ে যার দৃষ্টিতে অনুগ্রহ পাই, তার পিছনে পিছনে শস্যের পড়ে থাকা শীষ কুড়াই।” নয়মী বলল, “বৎসে, যাও।”
3 She went therefore and gleaned the ears of corn after the reapers. And it happened that the owner of that field was Booz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
৩পরে সে গিয়ে এক ক্ষেত্রে উপস্থিত হয়ে ছেদকদের পিছনে পিছনে পড়ে থাকা শীষ কুড়াতে লাগল; আর ঘটনাক্রমে সে ইলীমেলকের গোষ্ঠীর ঐ বোয়সের ভূমিতেই গিয়ে পড়ল।
4 And behold, he came out of Bethlehem, and said to the reapers: The Lord be with you. And they answered him: The Lord bless thee.
৪আর দেখ, বোয়স বৈৎলেহম থেকে এসে ছেদকদেরকে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু তোমাদের সহবর্ত্তী হোন।” তারা উত্তর করল, “সদাপ্রভু আপনাকে আশীর্বাদ করুন।”
5 And Booz said to the young man that was set over the reapers: Whose maid is this?
৫পরে বোয়স ছেদকদের উপরে নিযুক্ত নিজের চাকরকে জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “এ যুবতী কার?”
6 And he answered him: This is the Moabitess who came with Noemi, from the land of Moab,
৬তখন ছেদকদের উপর নিযুক্ত চাকর বলল, “এ সেই মোয়াবীয়া যুবতী, যে নয়মীর সঙ্গে মোয়াব দেশ থেকে এসেছে;”
7 And she desired leave to glean the ears of corn that remain, following the steps of the reapers: and she hath been in the field from morning till now, and hath not gone home for one moment.
৭সে বলল, “অনুগ্রহ করে আমাকে ছেদকদের পিছনে পিছনে আঁটির মধ্যে শীষ কুড়াতে দাও;” অতএব সে এসে সকাল থেকে এখন পর্যন্ত রয়েছে; কেবল বিশ্রামের ঘরে (বিশ্রাম নিতে) অল্পক্ষণ ছিল।
8 And Booz said to Ruth: Hear me, daughter, do not go to glean in any other field, and do not depart from this place: but keep with my maids,
৮পরে বোয়স রূতকে বললেন, “বৎসে, বলি শুন; তুমি কুড়াতে অন্য ক্ষেত্রে যেও না, এখান থেকে চলে যেও না, এখানে আমার যুবতী দাসীদের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে থাক।
9 And follow where they reap. For I have charged my young men, not to molest thee: and if thou art thirsty, go to the vessels, and drink of the waters whereof the servants drink.
৯ছেদকেরা যে ক্ষেত্রের শস্য কাটবে, তার প্রতি চোখ রেখে তুমি দাসীদের পিছনে যেও; তোমাকে স্পর্শ করতে আমি কি যুবকদেরকে নিষেধ করিনি? আর পিপাসা পেলে তুমি পাত্রের কাছে গিয়ে, যুবকরা যে জল তুলেছে, তা থেকে পান কোরো।”
10 She fell on her face and worshipping upon the ground, said to him: Whence cometh this to me, that I should find grace before thy eyes, and that thou shouldst vouchsafe to take notice of me a woman of another country?
১০তাতে সে উপুর হয়ে মাটিতে নত হয়ে তাঁকে বলল, “আমি তো বিদেশিনী, তবুও আপনি আমার বিষয় জানতে চাইছেন, আপনার দৃষ্টিতে এ অনুগ্রহ আমি কিসের জন্য পেলাম?”
11 And he answered her: All hath been told me, that thou hast done to thy mother in law after the death of thy husband: and how thou hast left thy parents, and the land wherein thou wast born, and art come to a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
১১বোয়স উত্তর করলেন, “তোমার স্বামীর মৃত্যুর পরে তুমি তোমার শাশুড়ীর সঙ্গে যেমন ব্যবহার করেছ এবং নিজের বাবা মা ও জন্মদেশ ছেড়ে, আগে যাদেরকে জানতে না, এমন লোকদের কাছে এসেছ, এ সব কথা আমার শোনা আছে।
12 The Lord render unto thee for thy work, and mayest thou receive a full reward of the Lord the God of Israel, to whom thou art come, and under whose wings thou art fled.
১২সদাপ্রভু তোমার কাজের উপযোগী ফল দিন; তুমি ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর যে সদাপ্রভুর পক্ষের নীচে শরণ নিতে এসেছ, তিনি তোমাকে সম্পূর্ণ পুরষ্কার দিন।”
13 And she said: I have found grace in thy eyes, my lord, who hast comforted me and hast spoken to the heart of thy handmaid, who am not like to one of thy maids.
১৩সে বলল, “হে আমার প্রভু, আপনার দৃষ্টিতে যেন আমি অনুগ্রহ পাই; আপনি আমাকে সান্ত্বনা করলেন এবং আপনার এই দাসীর কাছে মঙ্গলকাঙ্খী কথা বললেন; আমি তো আপনার একটি দাসীর মতোও নই।”
14 And Booz said to her: At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. So she sat at the side of the reapers, and she heaped to herself frumenty, and ate and was filled, and took the leavings.
১৪পরে ভোজন দিনের বোয়স তাকে বললেন, “তুমি এই জায়গায় এসে রুটি খাও এবং তোমার রুটির খন্ড সিরকায় ডুবিয়ে নাও।” তখন সে ছেদককের পাশে বসলে তারা তাকে ভাজা শস্য দিল; তাতে সে খেয়ে তৃপ্ত হল এবং কিছু রেখে দিল।
15 And she arose from thence, to glean the ears of corn as before. And Booz commanded his servants, saying: If she would even reap with you, hinder her not:
১৫পরে সে কুড়াতে উঠলে বোয়স নিজের চাকরদেরকে আজ্ঞা করলেন, “ওকে আঁটির মধ্যেও কুড়াতে দাও এবং ওকে তিরস্কার করও না;
16 And let fall some of your handfuls of purpose, and leave them, that she may gather them without shame, and let no man rebuke her when she gathereth them.
১৬আবার ওর জন্য বাঁধা আঁটি থেকে কিছু টেনে রেখে দাও, ওকে কুড়াতে দাও, ধমকীয়ও না।”
17 She gleaned therefore in the field till evening: and beating out with a rod and threshing what she had gleaned, she found about the measure of an ephi of barley, that is, three bushels:
১৭আর সে সন্ধ্যা পর্যন্ত সেই ক্ষেত্রে কুড়াল; পরে সে নিজের কুড়ান শস্য মাড়াই করলে প্রায় এক ঐফা যব হল।
18 Which she took up and returned into the city, and shewed it to her mother in law: moreover she brought out, and gave her of the remains of her meat, wherewith she had been filled.
১৮পরে সে তা তুলে নিয়ে নগরে গেল এবং তার শাশুড়ী তার কুড়ান শস্য দেখল; আর সে আহার করে তৃপ্ত হলে পর যা রেখেছিল, তা বের করে তাকে দিল।
19 And her mother in law said to her: Where hast thou gleaned today, and where hast thou wrought? blessed be he that hath had pity on thee. And she told her with whom she had wrought: and she told the man’s name, that he was called Booz.
১৯তখন তার শাশুড়ী তাকে বলল, “তুমি আজ কোথায় কুড়িয়েছ? কোথায় কাজ করেছ? যে ব্যক্তি তোমার সাহায্য করেছেন, তিনি ধন্য হোন।” তখন সে কার কাছে কাজ করেছিলে, তা শাশুড়িকে জানিয়ে বলল, “যে ব্যক্তির কাছে আজ কাজ করেছি, তাঁর নাম বোয়স।”
20 And Noemi answered her: Blessed be he of the Lord: because the same kindness which he shewed to the living, he hath kept also to the dead. And again she said: The man is our kinsman.
২০তাতে নয়মী নিজের ছেলের স্ত্রীকে বলল, “তিনি সেই সদাপ্রভুর আশীর্বাদ লাভ করুন, যিনি জীবিত ও মৃতদের প্রতি দয়া নিবৃত্ত করেননি।” নয়মী আরও বলল, “সেই ব্যক্তি আমাদের কাছের আত্মীয়, তিনি আমাদের মুক্তিকর্তা জ্ঞাতিদের মধ্যে এক জন।”
21 And Ruth said, He also charged me, that I should keep close to his reapers, till all the corn should be reaped.
২১আর মোয়াবীয়া রূত বলল, “তিনি আমাকে এটাও বললেন, আমার সমস্ত ফসল কাটা শেষ না হওয়া পর্যন্ত তুমি আমার চাকরদের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে থাক।”
22 And her mother in law said to her: It is better for thee, my daughter, to go out to reap with his maids, lest in another man’s field some one may resist thee.
২২তাতে নয়মী নিজের ছেলের স্ত্রী রূতকে বলল, “বৎসে, তুমি যে তার দাসীদের সঙ্গে যাও এবং অন্য কোনো জায়গায় কেউ যে তোমার দেখা না পায়, সে ভাল।”
23 So she kept close to the maids of Booz: and continued to glean with them, till all the barley and the wheat were laid up in the barns.
২৩অতএব যব ও গম কাটা শেষ হওয়া পর্যন্ত সে কুড়াবার জন্য বোয়সের দাসীদের সঙ্গে থাকল এবং নিজের শাশুড়ীর সঙ্গে বাস করল।
