Romans 15
1 Now we that are stronger, ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
Nous devons, nous qui sommes forts, supporter les faiblesses de ceux qui ne le sont pas, et ne pas nous plaire à nous-mêmes.
2 Let every one of you please his neighbour unto good, to edification.
Que chacun de nous cherche à complaire au prochain pour le bien, afin de l'édifier.
3 For Christ did not please himself, but as it is written: The reproaches of them that reproached thee, fell upon me.
Car le Christ n'a pas eu de complaisance pour lui-même; mais, selon qu'il est écrit: " Les outrages de ceux qui t'outragent sont tombés sur moi. "
4 For what things soever were written, were written for our learning: that through patience and the comfort of the scriptures, we might have hope.
Car tout ce qui a été écrit avant nous l'a été pour notre instruction, afin que, par la patience et la consolation que donnent les Ecritures, nous possédions l'espérance.
5 Now the God of patience and of comfort grant you to be of one mind one towards another, according to Jesus Christ:
Que le Dieu de la patience et de la consolation vous donne d'avoir les uns envers les autres les mêmes sentiments selon Jésus-Christ,
6 That with one mind, and with one mouth, you may glorify God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
afin que, d'un même cœur et d'une même bouche, vous glorifiez Dieu, le Père de Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
7 Wherefore receive one another, as Christ also hath received you unto the honour of God.
Accueillez-vous donc les uns les autres, comme le Christ vous a accueillis, pour la gloire de Dieu.
8 For I say that Christ Jesus was minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers.
J'affirme, en effet, que le Christ a été ministre des circoncis, pour montrer la véracité de Dieu, en accomplissant les promesses faites à leurs pères,
9 But that the Gentiles are to glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: Therefore will I confess to thee, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and will sing to thy name.
tandis que les Gentils glorifient Dieu à cause de sa miséricorde, selon qu'il est écrit: " C'est pourquoi je te louerai parmi les nations, et je chanterai à la gloire de ton nom. "
10 And again he saith: Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.
L'Ecriture dit encore: " Nations, réjouissez-vous avec son peuple. "
11 And again: Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and magnify him, all ye people.
Et ailleurs: " Nations, louez toutes le Seigneur; peuples, célébrez-le tous. "
12 And again Isaias saith: There shall be a root of Jesse; and he that shall rise up to rule the Gentiles, in him the Gentiles shall hope.
Isaïe dit aussi: " Il paraîtra, le rejeton de Jessé, celui qui se lève pour régner sur les nations; en lui les nations mettront leur espérance. "
13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing; that you may abound in hope, and in the power of the Holy Ghost.
Que le Dieu de l'espérance vous remplisse de toute joie et de toute paix dans la foi, afin que, par la vertu de l'Esprit-Saint, vous abondiez en espérance!
14 And I myself also, my brethren, am assured of you, that you also are full of love, replenished with all knowledge, so that you are able to admonish one another.
Moi aussi, mes frères, j'ai de vous cette persuasion que vous êtes de vous-mêmes pleins de bons sentiments, remplis de toute connaissance, et capables de vous avertir les uns les autres.
15 But I have written to you, brethren, more boldly in some sort, as it were putting you in mind: because of the grace which is given me from God.
Cependant je vous ai écrit plus librement, comme pour raviver en partie vos souvenirs, — à cause de la grâce que Dieu m'a faite
16 That I should be the minister of Christ Jesus among the Gentiles; sanctifying the gospel of God, that the oblation of the Gentiles may be made acceptable and sanctified in the Holy Ghost.
d'être ministre de Jésus-Christ, pour les Gentils, — en m'acquittant du divin service de l'Evangile de Dieu, afin que l'offrande des Gentils soit agréée, étant sanctifiée par le Saint-Esprit.
17 I have therefore glory in Christ Jesus towards God.
J'ai donc sujet de me glorifier en Jésus-Christ pour ce qui regarde le service de Dieu.
18 For I dare not to speak of any of those things which Christ worketh not by me, for the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,
Car je n'oserais point parler de choses que le Christ n'aurait pas faites par mon ministère pour amener les païens à obéir à l'Evangile, par la parole et par l'action,
19 By the virtue of signs and wonders, in the power of the Holy Ghost, so that from Jerusalem round about as far as unto Illyricum, I have replenished the gospel of Christ.
par la vertu des miracles et des prodiges, par la puissance de l'Esprit-Saint: si bien que, depuis Jérusalem et les pays voisins jusqu'à l'Illyrie, j'ai porté partout l'Evangile du Christ,
20 And I have so preached this gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation.
mettant toutefois mon honneur à prêcher l'Evangile là où le Christ n'avait pas encore été nommé, afin de ne pas bâtir sur le fondement qu'un autre aurait posé,
21 But as it is written: They to whom he was not spoken of, shall see, and they that have not heard shall understand.
mais selon qu'il est écrit: " Ceux à qui il n'avait pas été annoncé le verront, et ceux qui n'en avaient pas entendu parler le connaîtront. "
22 For which cause also I was hindered very much from coming to you, and have been kept away till now.
C'est ce qui m'a souvent empêché d'aller chez vous.
23 But now having no more place in these countries, and having a great desire these many years past to come unto you,
Mais maintenant n'ayant plus rien qui me retienne dans ces contrées, et ayant depuis plusieurs années le désir d'aller vers vous,
24 When I shall begin to take my journey into Spain, I hope that as I pass, I shall see you, and be brought on my way thither by you, if first, in part, I shall have enjoyed you:
j'espère vous voir en passant, quand je me rendrai en Espagne, et y être accompagné par vous, après que j'aurai satisfait, en partie du moins, mon désir de me trouver parmi vous.
25 But now I shall go to Jerusalem, to minister unto the saints.
Présentement je vais à Jérusalem, pour venir en aide aux saints.
26 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a contribution for the poor of the saints that are in Jerusalem.
Car la Macédoine et l'Achaïe ont bien voulu faire une collecte en faveur des saints de Jérusalem qui sont dans la pauvreté.
27 For it hath pleased them; and they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, they ought also in carnal things to minister to them.
Elles l'ont bien voulu; aussi bien elles le leur devaient; car si les Gentils ont eu part à leurs biens spirituels, ils doivent à leur tour les assister de leurs biens temporels.
28 When therefore I shall have accomplished this, and consigned to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.
Dès que j'aurai terminé cette affaire et que j'aurai consigné ce don entre leurs mains, je partirai pour l'Espagne et passerai chez vous.
29 And I know, that when I come to you, I shall come in the abundance of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.
Or je sais qu'en allant chez vous, j'y viendrai avec une abondante bénédiction du Christ.
30 I beseech you therefore, brethren, through our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the charity of the Holy Ghost, that you help me in your prayers for me to God,
Je vous exhorte, mes frères, par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ et par la charité du Saint-Esprit, à combattre avec moi, en adressant pour moi des prières à Dieu,
31 That I may be delivered from the unbelievers that are in Judea, and that the oblation of my service may be acceptable in Jerusalem to the saints.
afin que j'échappe aux incrédules qui sont en Judée, et que l'offrande que je porte à Jérusalem soit agréable aux saints,
32 That I may come to you with joy, by the will of God, and may be refreshed with you.
en sorte que j'arrive chez vous dans la joie, si c'est la volonté de Dieu, et que je goûte quelque repos au milieu de vous.
33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Que le Dieu de paix soit avec vous tous! Amen!
