Revelation 2
1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write: These things saith he, who holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks:
« Écris à l'ange de l'assemblée d'Éphèse: « Celui qui tient les sept étoiles dans sa main droite, celui qui marche parmi les sept chandeliers d'or dit ces choses:
2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them that are evil, and thou hast tried them, who say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
« Je connais tes œuvres, ton travail et ta persévérance, et je sais que tu ne supportes pas les méchants, que tu as mis à l'épreuve ceux qui se disent apôtres et qui ne le sont pas, et que tu les as trouvés faux.
3 And thou hast patience, and hast endured for my name, and hast not fainted.
Vous avez de la persévérance, vous avez enduré à cause de mon nom, et vous ne vous êtes pas lassés.
4 But I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first charity.
Mais j'ai contre vous ceci: c'est que vous avez abandonné votre premier amour.
5 Be mindful therefore from whence thou art fallen: and do penance, and do the first works. Or else I come to thee, and will move thy candlestick out of its place, except thou do penance.
Souviens-toi donc d'où tu es tombé, et repens-toi, et fais les premières œuvres; sinon, je viens à toi promptement, et je déplacerai ton chandelier de sa place, à moins que tu ne te repentes.
6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaites, which I also hate.
Mais ce que vous avez, c'est que vous haïssez les œuvres des Nicolaïtes, que je hais aussi.
7 He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him, that overcometh, I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of my God.
Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que l'Esprit dit aux assemblées. À celui qui vaincra, je donnerai à manger de l'arbre de vie, qui est dans le paradis de mon Dieu.
8 And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write: These things saith the First and the Last, who was dead, and is alive:
« Écris à l'ange de l'assemblée de Smyrne: « Le premier et le dernier, qui était mort et qui est revenu à la vie, dit ces choses:
9 I know thy tribulation and thy poverty, but thou art rich: and thou art blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
« Je connais tes œuvres, l'oppression, ta pauvreté (mais tu es riche), et le blasphème de ceux qui se disent Juifs, et qui ne le sont pas, mais qui sont une synagogue de Satan.
10 Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison that you may be tried: and you shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful until death: and I will give thee the crown of life.
Ne vous effrayez pas des choses que vous allez souffrir. Voici que le diable va jeter quelques-uns d'entre vous en prison, afin de vous mettre à l'épreuve, et vous serez opprimés pendant dix jours. Soyez fidèles jusqu'à la mort, et je vous donnerai la couronne de la vie.
11 He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: He that shall overcome, shall not be hurt by the second death.
Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que l'Esprit dit aux assemblées. Celui qui vaincra ne sera pas atteint par la seconde mort.
12 And to the angel of the church of Pergamus write: These things, saith he, that hath the sharp two edged sword:
« Écris à l'ange de l'assemblée de Pergame: « Celui qui a l'épée aiguë à deux tranchants dit ces choses:
13 I know where thou dwellest, where the seat of Satan is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith. Even in those days when Antipas was my faithful witness, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
« Je connais tes œuvres et le lieu où tu demeures, là où est le trône de Satan. Vous tenez fermement à mon nom, et vous n'avez pas renié ma foi au temps d'Antipas, mon témoin, mon fidèle, qui a été tué au milieu de vous, là où habite Satan.
14 But I have against thee a few things: because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat, and to commit fornication:
Mais j'ai quelque chose à vous reprocher, c'est que vous avez là des gens qui suivent la doctrine de Balaam, qui a enseigné à Balak à jeter une pierre d'achoppement devant les enfants d'Israël, à manger des viandes sacrifiées aux idoles et à se livrer à l'impudicité.
15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaites.
De même, vous avez aussi des gens qui s'attachent à la doctrine des Nicolaïtes.
16 In like manner do penance: if not, I will come to thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
Repentez-vous donc, sinon je viens à vous rapidement et je leur ferai la guerre avec l'épée de ma bouche.
17 He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him that overcometh, I will give the hidden manna, and will give him a white counter, and in the counter, a new name written, which no man knoweth, but he that receiveth it.
Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que l'Esprit dit aux assemblées. À celui qui vaincra, je donnerai de la manne cachée, je lui donnerai un caillou blanc, et sur ce caillou sera écrit un nom nouveau que personne ne connaît, sinon celui qui le reçoit.
18 And to the angel of the church of Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like to a flame of fire, and his feet like to fine brass.
« Écris à l'ange de l'assemblée de Thyatire: « Le Fils de Dieu, qui a les yeux comme une flamme de feu, et les pieds comme de l'airain poli, dit ces choses:
19 I know thy works, and thy faith, and thy charity, and thy ministry, and thy patience, and thy last works which are more than the former.
« Je connais tes œuvres, ton amour, ta foi, ton service, ta persévérance, et je sais que tes dernières œuvres sont plus nombreuses que les premières.
20 But I have against thee a few things: because thou sufferest the woman Jezabel, who calleth herself a prophetess, to teach, and to seduce my servants, to commit fornication, and to eat of things sacrificed to idols.
Mais j'ai contre toi ceci: tu tolères ta femme Jézabel, qui se dit prophétesse. Elle enseigne et séduit mes serviteurs pour qu'ils se livrent à l'impudicité et qu'ils mangent des viandes sacrifiées aux idoles.
21 And I gave her a time that she might do penance, and she will not repent of her fornication.
Je lui ai donné du temps pour se repentir, mais elle refuse de se repentir de son immoralité sexuelle.
22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed: and they that commit adultery with her shall be in very great tribulation, except they do penance from their deeds.
Voici, je la jetterai, elle et ceux qui commettent l'adultère avec elle, dans un lit de grande oppression, s'ils ne se repentent pas de ses œuvres.
23 And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts, and I will give to every one of you according to your works. But to you I say,
Je ferai mourir de mort ses enfants, et toutes les assemblées sauront que je suis celui qui sonde les esprits et les cœurs. Je rendrai à chacun de vous selon ses œuvres.
24 And to the rest who are at Thyatira: Whosoever have not this doctrine, and who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will not put upon you any other burthen.
Mais à vous, je le dis, à ceux qui restent à Thyatira - tous ceux qui n'ont pas cet enseignement, qui ne connaissent pas ce que certains appellent « les choses profondes de Satan » - à vous, je le dis, je ne vous impose aucun autre fardeau.
25 Yet that, which you have, hold fast till I come.
Néanmoins, tenez fermement ce que vous avez, jusqu'à ce que je vienne.
26 And he that shall overcome, and keep my works unto the end, I will give him power over the nations.
Celui qui vaincra, celui qui gardera mes œuvres jusqu'à la fin, c'est à lui que je donnerai autorité sur les nations.
27 And he shall rule them with a rod of iron, and as the vessel of a potter they shall be broken,
Il les dominera avec une verge de fer, les brisant comme des vases d'argile, comme je l'ai aussi reçu de mon Père;
28 As I also have received of my Father: and I will give him the morning star.
et je lui donnerai l'étoile du matin.
29 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que l'Esprit dit aux assemblées.
