Psalms 72
1 A psalm on Solomon.
[Für [O. von] Salomo.] O Gott, gib dem Könige deine Gerichte, [O. Rechte, Urteile] und deine Gerechtigkeit dem Sohne des Königs!
2 Give to the king thy judgment, O God: and to the king’s son thy justice: To judge thy people with justice, and thy poor with judgment.
Er wird dein Volk richten in Gerechtigkeit, und deine Elenden nach Recht.
3 Let the mountains receive peace for the people: and the hills justice.
Es werden dem Volke Frieden [O. Wohlfahrt] tragen die Berge und die Hügel durch Gerechtigkeit.
4 He shall judge the poor of the people, and he shall save the children of the poor: and he shall humble the oppressor.
Er wird Recht schaffen den Elenden des Volkes; er wird retten die Kinder des Armen, und den Bedrücker wird er zertreten.
5 And he shall continue with the sun, and before the moon, throughout all generations.
Man wird dich fürchten von Geschlecht zu Geschlecht, so lange Sonne und Mond bestehen.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the fleece; and as showers falling gently upon the earth.
Er wird herabkommen wie ein Regen auf die gemähte Flur, wie Regenschauer, Regengüsse auf das Land.
7 In his days shall justice spring up, and abundance of peace, till the moon be taken sway.
In seinen Tagen wird der Gerechte blühen, und Fülle von Frieden [O. Wohlfahrt] wird sein, bis der Mond nicht mehr ist.
8 And he shall rule from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
Und er wird herrschen von Meer zu Meer, und vom Strome bis an die Enden der Erde. [O. des Landes]
9 Before him the Ethiopians shall fall down: and his enemies shall lick the ground.
Vor ihm werden sich beugen die Bewohner der Wüste, und seine Feinde werden den Staub lecken;
10 The kings of Tharsis and the islands shall offer presents: the kings of the Arabians and of Saba shall bring gifts:
Die Könige von Tarsis und von den Inseln werden Geschenke entrichten, es werden Abgaben darbringen die Könige von Scheba und Seba.
11 And all kings of the earth shall adore him: all nations shall serve him.
Und alle Könige werden vor ihm niederfallen, alle Nationen ihm dienen.
12 For he shall deliver the poor from the mighty: and the needy that had no helper.
Denn erretten wird er den Armen, der um Hülfe ruft, und den Elenden, der [O. und den, der] keinen Helfer hat;
13 He shall spare the poor and needy: and he shall save the souls of the poor.
Er wird sich erbarmen des Geringen und des Armen, und die Seelen der Armen wird er retten.
14 He shall redeem their souls from usuries and iniquity: and their names shall be honourable in his sight.
Von Bedrückung und Gewalttat wird er ihre Seele erlösen, und ihr Blut wird teuer sein in seinen Augen.
15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Arabia, for him they shall always adore: they shall bless him all the day.
Und er wird leben, und von dem Golde Schebas wird man [O. er] ihm geben; und man [O. er] wird beständig für ihn beten, den ganzen Tag ihn segnen.
16 And there shall be a firmament on the earth on the tops of mountains, above Libanus shall the fruit thereof be exalted: and they of the city shall flourish like the grass of the earth.
Es wird Überfluß an Getreide sein im Lande, [O. auf der Erde] auf dem Gipfel der Berge; gleich dem Libanon wird rauschen seine Frucht; und Menschen werden hervorblühen aus den Städten wie das Kraut der Erde.
17 Let his name be blessed for evermore: his name continueth before the sun. And in him shall all the tribes of the earth be blessed: all nations shall magnify him.
Sein Name wird ewig sein; so lange die Sonne besteht, wird fortdauern sein Name; und in ihm wird man sich segnen; alle Nationen werden [O. in ihm werden sich segnen alle Nationen, sie werden usw.] ihn glücklich preisen.
18 Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone doth wonderful things.
Gepriesen sei Jehova, Gott, der Gott Israels, der Wunder tut, er allein!
19 And blessed be the name of his majesty for ever: and the whole earth shall be filled with his majesty. So be it. So be it.
Und gepriesen sei sein herrlicher Name in Ewigkeit! Und die ganze Erde werde erfüllt mit seiner Herrlichkeit! Amen, ja, Amen.
20 The praises of David, the son of Jesse, are ended.
Es sind zu Ende die Gebete Davids, des Sohnes Isais.
