Psalms 132

1 O Lord, remember David, and all his meekness.

Cantique des montées. Souviens-toi, Yahweh, de David, de toutes ses peines!

2 How he swore to the Lord, he vowed a vow to the God of Jacob:

Il fit ce serment à Yahweh, ce vœu au Fort de Jacob:

3 If I shall enter into the tabernacle of my house: if I shall go up into the bed wherein I lie:

« Je n’entrerai pas dans la tente où j’habite, je ne monterai pas sur le lit où je repose;

4 If I shall give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids,

je n’accorderai pas de sommeil à mes yeux, ni d’assoupissement à mes paupières,

5 Or rest to my temples: until I find out a place for the Lord, a tabernacle for the God of Jacob.

jusqu’à ce que j’aie trouvé un lieu pour Yahweh, une demeure pour le Fort de Jacob. »

6 Behold we have heard of it in Ephrata: we have found it in the fields of the wood.

Voici, entendions-nous dire, qu’elle est à Ephrata; nous l’avons trouvée dans les champs de Jaar.

7 We will go into his tabernacle: We will adore in the place where his feet stood.

Allons au tabernacle de Yahweh, prosternons-nous devant l’escabeau de ses pieds.

8 Arise, O Lord, into thy resting place: thou and the ark, which thou hast sanctified.

Lève-toi, Yahweh, viens au lieu de ton repos, toi et l’arche de ta majesté!

9 Let thy priests be clothed with justice: and let thy saints rejoice.

Que tes prêtres soient revêtus de justice, et que tes fidèles poussent des cris d’allégresse!

10 For thy servant David’s sake, turn not away the face of thy anointed.

A cause de David, ton serviteur, ne repousse pas la face de ton Oint!

11 The Lord hath sworn truth to David, and he will not make it void: of the fruit of thy womb I will set upon thy throne.

Yahweh a juré à David la vérité, il ne s’en départira pas: « C’est du fruit de tes entrailles, que je mettrai sur ton trône.

12 If thy children will keep thy covenant, and these my testimonies which I shall teach them: Their children also for evermore shall sit upon thy throne.

Si tes fils gardent mon alliance, et les préceptes que je leur enseignerai, leurs fils aussi, à tout jamais, seront assis sur ton trône. »

13 For the Lord hath chosen Sion: he hath chosen it for his dwelling.

Car Yahweh a choisi Sion, il l’a désirée pour sa demeure.

14 This is my rest for ever and ever: here will I dwell, for I have chosen it.

« C’est le lieu de mon repos pour toujours; j’y habiterai, car je l’ai désirée.

15 Blessing, I will bless her widow: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

Je répandrai de riches bénédictions sur sa subsistance, je rassasierai de pain ses pauvres.

16 I will clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall rejoice with exceeding great joy.

Je revêtirai de salut ses prêtres, et ses fidèles pousseront des cris d’allégresse.

17 There will I bring forth a horn to David: I have prepared a lamp for my anointed.

Là je ferai grandir la puissance de David, je préparerai un flambeau à mon Oint.

18 His enemies I will clothe with confusion: but upon him will my sanctification flourish.

Je revêtirai de honte ses ennemis, et sur son front resplendira son diadème. »
