Psalms 124

1 If it had not been that the Lord was with us, let Israel now say:

Una canción de ascensos. Por David. Si no hubiera sido Yahvé quien estuviera de nuestra parte, dejemos que Israel diga ahora,

2 If it had not been that the Lord was with us, When men rose up against us,

si no hubiera sido Yahvé quien estuviera de nuestra parte, cuando los hombres se levantaron contra nosotros,

3 Perhaps they had swallowed us up alive. When their fury was enkindled against us,

entonces nos habrían tragado vivos, cuando su ira se encendió contra nosotros,

4 Perhaps the waters had swallowed us up.

entonces las aguas nos habrían desbordado, la corriente habría pasado por encima de nuestra alma.

5 Our soul hath passed through a torrent: perhaps our soul had passed through a water insupportable.

Entonces las aguas orgullosas habrían pasado por encima de nuestra alma.

6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us to be a prey to their teeth.

Bendito sea Yahvé, que no nos ha dado como presa a sus dientes.

7 Our soul hath been delivered as a sparrow out of the snare of the followers. The snare is broken, and we are delivered.

Nuestra alma ha escapado como un pájaro de la trampa del cazador. La trampa se ha roto y hemos escapado.

8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Nuestra ayuda está en el nombre de Yahvé, que hizo el cielo y la tierra.
