Psalms 118

1 Give praise to Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Célébrez l'Éternel; car il est bon, Et sa miséricorde dure éternellement!

2 Let Israel now say that he is good: that his mercy endureth for ever.

Qu'Israël dise: «Oui, sa miséricorde dure éternellement!»

3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

Que la maison d'Aaron dise: «Sa miséricorde dure éternellement!»

4 Let them that fear the Lord now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

Que ceux qui craignent l'Éternel disent: «Sa miséricorde dure éternellement!»

5 In my trouble I called upon the Lord: and the Lord heard me, and enlarged me.

Du sein de la détresse, j'ai invoqué l'Éternel; Il m'a exaucé et m'a mis au large.

6 The Lord is my helper, I will not fear what man can do unto me.

L'Éternel est pour moi, je ne craindrai rien: Que pourraient me faire les hommes?

7 The Lord is my helper: and I will look over my enemies.

L'Éternel est pour moi, il est parmi mes défenseurs; Je verrai la confusion de mes ennemis!

8 It is good to confide in the Lord, rather than to have confidence in man.

Mieux vaut se réfugier auprès de l'Éternel, Que mettre sa confiance en l'homme;

9 It is good to trust in the Lord, rather than to trust in princes.

Mieux vaut se réfugier auprès de l'Éternel, Que mettre sa confiance dans les grands de la terre.

10 All nations compassed me about; and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.

Toutes les nations m'avaient assiégé; Au nom de l'Éternel, je les ai détruites.

11 Surrounding me they compassed me about: and in the name of the Lord I have been revenged on them.

Oui, elles m'avaient assiégé, Elles m'avaient cerné de toutes parts; Au nom de l'Éternel, je les ai détruites.

12 They surrounded me like bees, and they burned like fire among thorns: and in the name of the Lord I was revenged on them.

Elles m'avaient entouré comme un essaim d'abeilles; Elles ont été consumées comme un feu d'épines. C'est au nom de l'Éternel que je les ai détruites.

13 Being pushed I was overturned that I might fall: but the Lord supported me.

Mes ennemis s'étaient jetés sur moi pour me faire tomber; Mais l'Éternel m'a secouru.

14 The Lord is my strength and my praise: and he is become my salvation.

L'Éternel est ma force et le sujet de mes louanges; Il a été mon libérateur.

15 The voice of rejoicing and of salvation is in the tabernacles of the just.

Un chant de triomphe et de délivrance S'élève dans les tentes des justes. «La main de l'Éternel agit avec puissance!

16 The right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength: the right hand of the Lord hath exulted me: the right hand of the Lord hath wrought strength.

La main de l'Éternel est victorieuse; La main de l'Éternel agit avec puissance!»

17 I shall not die, but live: and shall declare the works of the Lord.

Je ne mourrai point, mais je vivrai. Et je raconterai les oeuvres de l'Éternel.

18 The Lord chastising hath chastised me: but he hath not delivered me over to death.

L'Éternel m'a châtié sévèrement; Mais il ne m'a pas livré à la mort.

19 Open ye to me the gates of justice: I will go into them, and give praise to the Lord.

Ouvrez-moi les portes du Dieu de justice; J'entrerai dans le temple et je célébrerai l'Éternel.

20 This is the gate of the Lord, the just shall enter into it.

Voici la porte de l'Éternel; Les justes entreront.

21 I will give glory to thee because thou hast heard me: and art become my salvation.

Je te célébrerai, car tu m'as exaucé, Et tu as été mon libérateur.

22 The stone which the builders rejected; the same is become the head of the corner.

La pierre qu'avaient rejetée ceux qui bâtissaient Est devenue la maîtresse pierre de l'angle.

23 This is the Lord’s doing: and it is wonderful in our eyes.

Cela vient de l'Éternel, Et c'est une merveille à nos yeux.

24 This is the day which the Lord hath made: let us be glad and rejoice therein.

Voici la journée que l'Éternel a faite: Livrons-nous à la joie et à l'allégresse!

25 O Lord, save me: O Lord, give good success.

Éternel, délivre-nous! Éternel, donne-nous la prospérité!

26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name Lord. We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.

Béni soit celui qui vient au nom de l'Éternel! Du seuil de la maison de l'Éternel, nous vous bénissons.

27 The Lord is God, and he hath shone upon us. Appoint a solemn day, with shady boughs, even to the horn of the alter.

L'Éternel est le Dieu fort, et il nous a éclairés. Liez les victimes avec des cordes, Et amenez-les jusqu'aux angles de l'autel.

28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, and I will exalt thee. I will praise thee, because thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.

Tu es mon Dieu fort, je te célébrerai; Tu es mon Dieu, je t'exalterai.

29 O praise ye the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Louez l'Éternel; car il est bon, Et sa miséricorde dure éternellement!
