Matthew 21
1 And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto mount Olivet, then Jesus sent two disciples,
Lorsqu'ils approchèrent de Jérusalem, et furent arrivés à Bethphagé, vers le mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de ses disciples,
2 Saying to them: Go ye into the village that is over against you, and immediately you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them and bring them to me.
en leur disant: " Allez au village qui est devant vous; vous trouverez aussitôt une ânesse attachée et un ânon avec elle; détachez-les, et amenez-les-moi.
3 And if any man shall say anything to you, say ye, that the Lord hath need of them: and forthwith he will let them go.
Et si l'on vous dit quelque chose, répondez que le Seigneur en a besoin, et à l'instant on les laissera aller. "
4 Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
Or ceci arriva, afin que s'accomplît la parole du prophète:
5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of her that is used to the yoke.
" Dites à la fille de Sion: Voici que ton roi vient à toi plein de douceur, assis sur une ânesse et sur un ânon, le petit de celle qui porte le joug. "
6 And the disciples going, did as Jesus commanded them.
Les disciples allèrent donc et firent ce que Jésus leur avait commandé.
7 And they brought the ass and the colt, and laid their garments upon them, and made him sit thereon.
Ils amenèrent l'ânesse et l'ânon, mirent dessus leurs manteaux, et l'y firent asseoir.
8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way: and others cut boughs from the trees, and strewed them in the way:
Le peuple en grand nombre étendit ses manteaux le long de la route; d'autres coupaient des branches d'arbres et en jonchaient le chemin.
9 And the multitudes that went before and that followed, cried, saying: Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
Et toute cette multitude, en avant de Jésus et derrière lui, criait: " Hosanna au fils de David! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux! "
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, saying: Who is this?
Lorsqu'il entra dans Jérusalem, toute la ville fut en émoi; on disait: " Qui est-ce? "
11 And the people said: This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee.
Et le peuple répondait: " C'est Jésus le prophète, de Nazareth en Galilée. "
12 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the chairs of them that sold doves:
Jésus étant entré dans le temple, chassa tous ceux qui vendaient et achetaient dans le temple; il renversa les tables des changeurs et les sièges de ceux qui vendaient les colombes,
13 And he saith to them: It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.
et leur dit: " Il est écrit: Ma maison sera appelée une maison de prière, et vous en faites une caverne de voleurs. "
14 And there came to him the blind and the lame in the temple; and he healed them.
Des aveugles et des boiteux vinrent à lui dans le temple, et il les guérit.
15 And the chief priests and scribes, seeing the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying: Hosanna to the son of David; were moved with indignation.
Mais les Princes des prêtres et les Scribes, voyant les miracles qu'il faisait, et les enfants qui criaient dans le temple et disaient: " Hosanna au fils de David, " s'indignèrent,
16 And said to him: Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus said to them: Yea, have you never read: Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
et ils lui dirent: " Entendez-vous ce qu'ils disent? — Oui, leur répondit Jésus; n'avez-vous jamais lu: De la bouche des enfants et de ceux qui sont à la mamelle, vous vous êtes préparé une louange? "
17 And leaving them, he went out of the city into Bethania, and remained there.
Et les ayant laissés là, il sortit de la ville, et s'en alla dans la direction de Béthanie, où il passa la nuit en plein air.
18 And in the morning, returning into the city, he was hungry.
Le lendemain matin, comme il retournait à la ville, il eut faim.
19 And seeing a certain fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves only, and he saith to it: May no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away. (aiōn g165)
Voyant un figuier près du chemin, il s'en approcha; mais il n'y trouva que des feuilles, et il lui dit: " Que jamais aucun fruit ne naisse de toi! " Et à l'instant le figuier sécha. (aiōn g165)
20 And the disciples seeing it wondered, saying: How is it presently withered away?
A cette vue, les disciples dirent avec étonnement: " Comment a-t-il séché en un instant? "
21 And Jesus answering, said to them: Amen, I say to you, if you shall have faith, and stagger not, not only this of the fig tree shall you do, but also if you shall say to this mountain, Take up and cast thyself into the sea, it shall be done.
Jésus leur répondit: " En vérité, je vous le dis, si vous avez de la foi et que vous n'hésitiez point, non seulement vous ferez comme il a été fait à ce figuier; mais quand même vous diriez à cette montagne: Ote-toi de là et jette-toi dans la mer, cela se ferait.
22 And in all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.
Tout ce que vous demanderez avec foi dans la prière, vous l'obtiendrez. "
23 And when he was come into the temple, there came to him, as he was teaching, the chief priests and ancients of the people, saying: By what authority dost thou these things? and who hath given thee this authority?
Étant entré dans le temple, comme il enseignait, les Princes des prêtres et les Anciens s'approchèrent de lui et lui dirent: " De quel droit faites-vous ces choses, et qui vous a donné ce pouvoir? "
24 Jesus answering, said to them: I also will ask you one word, which if you shall tell me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.
Jésus leur répondit: " Je vous ferai, moi aussi, une question, et, si vous y répondez, je vous dirai de quel droit je fais ces choses:
25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? But they thought within themselves, saying:
Le baptême de Jean, d'où était-il? du ciel, ou des hommes? " Mais ils faisaient en eux-mêmes cette réflexion:
26 If we shall say, from heaven, he will say to us: Why then did you not believe him? But if we shall say, from men, we are afraid of the multitude: for all held John as a prophet.
" Si nous répondons: Du ciel, il nous dira: Pourquoi donc n'avez-vous pas cru en lui? Et si nous répondons: Des hommes, nous avons à craindre le peuple: car tout le monde tient Jean pour un prophète. "
27 And answering Jesus, they said: We know not. He also said to them: Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Ils répondirent à Jésus: " Nous ne savons. — Et moi, dit Jésus, je ne vous dis pas non plus de quel droit je fais ces choses. "
28 But what think you? A certain man had two sons; and coming to the first, he said: Son, go work today in my vineyard.
" Mais que vous en semble? Un homme avait deux fils; s'adressant au premier, il lui dit: Mon fils, va travailler aujourd'hui à ma vigne.
29 And he answering, said: I will not. But afterwards, being moved with repentance, he went.
Celui-ci répondit: Je ne veux pas; mais ensuite, touché de repentir, il y alla.
30 And coming to the other, he said in like manner. And he answering, said: I go, Sir; and he went not.
Puis, s'adressant à l'autre, il lui fit le même commandement. Celui-ci répondit: J'y vais, seigneur; et il n'y alla point.
31 Which of the two did the father’s will? They say to him: The first. Jesus saith to them: Amen I say to you, that the publicans and the harlots shall go into the kingdom of God before you.
Lequel des deux a fait la volonté de son père? — Le premier, " lui dirent-ils. Alors Jésus: " Je vous le dis en vérité, les publicains et les courtisanes vous devancent dans le royaume de Dieu.
32 For John came to you in the way of justice, and you did not believe him. But the publicans and the harlots believed him: but you, seeing it, did not even afterwards repent, that you might believe him.
Car Jean est venu à vous dans la voie de la justice, et vous n'avez pas cru en lui; mais les publicains et les courtisanes ont cru en lui, et vous, qui avez vu cela, vous ne vous êtes pas encore repentis pour croire en lui.
33 Hear ye another parable. There was a man an householder, who planted a vineyard, and made a hedge round about it, and dug in it a press, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen; and went into a strange country.
" Écoutez une autre parabole. Il y avait un père de famille qui planta une vigne. Il l'entoura d'une haie, y creusa un pressoir et y bâtit une tour; et l'ayant louée à des vignerons, il partit pour un voyage.
34 And when the time of the fruits drew nigh, he sent his servants to the husbandmen that they might receive the fruits thereof.
Quand vint le temps des fruits, il envoya aux vignerons ses serviteurs pour recevoir le produit de sa vigne.
35 And the husbandmen laying hands on his servants, beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
Les vignerons s'étant saisis de ses serviteurs, battirent l'un, tuèrent l'autre et lapidèrent le troisième.
36 Again he sent other servants more than the former; and they did to them in like manner.
Il envoya de nouveau d'autres serviteurs en plus grand nombre que les premiers, et ils les traitèrent de même.
37 And last of all he sent to them his son, saying: They will reverence my son.
Enfin il leur envoya son fils, en disant: ils respecteront mon fils.
38 But the husbandmen seeing the son, said among themselves: This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and we shall have his inheritance.
Mais quand les vignerons virent le fils, ils se dirent entre eux: Voici l'héritier; venez, tuons-le, et nous aurons son héritage.
39 And taking him, they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.
Et s'étant saisis de lui, ils le jetèrent hors de la vigne et le tuèrent.
40 When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do to those husbandmen?
Maintenant, lorsque le maître de la vigne viendra, que fera-t-il à ces vignerons? "
41 They say to him: He will bring those evil men to an evil end; and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, that shall render him the fruit in due season.
Ils lui répondirent: " Il frappera sans pitié ces misérables, et louera sa vigne à d'autres vignerons, qui lui en donneront les fruits en leur temps. "
42 Jesus saith to them: Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? By the Lord this has been done; and it is wonderful in our eyes.
Jésus leur dit: " N'avez-vous jamais lu dans les Écritures: La pierre qu'ont rejetée ceux qui bâtissaient, est devenue le sommet de l'angle? C'est le Seigneur qui a fait cela, et c'est un prodige à nos yeux. —
43 Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and shall be given to a nation yielding the fruits thereof.
C'est pourquoi je vous dis que le royaume de Dieu vous sera ôté et qu'il sera donné à un peuple qui en produira les fruits.
44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone, shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.
Celui qui tombera sur cette pierre se brisera, et celui sur qui elle tombera sera écrasé. "
45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they knew that he spoke of them.
Les Princes des prêtres et les Pharisiens ayant entendu ces paraboles, comprirent que Jésus parlait d'eux.
46 And seeking to lay hands on him, they feared the multitudes: because they held him as a prophet.
Et ils cherchaient à se saisir de lui; mais ils craignaient le peuple, qui le regardait comme un prophète.
