Matthew 10
1 And having called his twelve disciples together, he gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of diseases, and all manner of infirmities.
Il appela à lui ses douze disciples, et leur donna autorité sur les esprits impurs, pour les chasser, et pour guérir toute maladie et toute infirmité.
2 And the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother,
Voici les noms des douze apôtres. Le premier, Simon, appelé Pierre; André, son frère; Jacques, fils de Zébédée; Jean, son frère;
3 James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus,
Philippe; Barthélemy; Thomas; Matthieu, publicain; Jacques, fils d'Alphée; Lebbée, appelé aussi Thaddée;
4 Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
Simon le Zélote; et Judas Iscariote, qui le livra aussi.
5 These twelve Jesus sent: commanding them, saying: Go ye not into the way of the Gentiles, and into the city of the Samaritans enter ye not.
Jésus envoya ces douze personnes et leur donna cet ordre: « N'allez pas parmi les païens, et n'entrez dans aucune ville des Samaritains.
6 But go ye rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Allez plutôt vers les brebis perdues de la maison d'Israël.
7 And going, preach, saying: The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
En chemin, prêchez en disant: Le Royaume des cieux est tout proche.
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out devils: freely have you received, freely give.
Guérissez les malades, purifiez les lépreux, chassez les démons. Vous avez reçu gratuitement, donnez gratuitement.
9 Do not possess gold, nor silver, nor money in your purses:
Ne prenez pas d'or, d'argent ou d'airain dans vos ceintures.
10 Nor scrip for your journey, nor two coats, nor shoes, nor a staff; for the workman is worthy of his meat.
Ne prenez pas de sac pour votre voyage, ni deux tuniques, ni sandales, ni bâton; car l'ouvrier mérite sa nourriture.
11 And into whatsoever city or town you shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and there abide till you go thence.
Dans quelque ville ou village que vous entriez, cherchez qui en est digne, et restez-y jusqu'à ce que vous partiez.
12 And when you come into the house, salute it, saying: Peace be to this house.
Lorsque vous entrez dans une maison, saluez-la.
13 And if that house be worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you.
Si la maison est digne, que ta paix vienne sur elle, mais si elle n'est pas digne, que ta paix revienne vers toi.
14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words: going forth out of that house or city shake off the dust from your feet.
Si quelqu'un ne te reçoit pas ou n'écoute pas tes paroles, en sortant de cette maison ou de cette ville, secoue la poussière de tes pieds.
15 Amen I say to you, it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
En vérité, je vous le dis, au jour du jugement, le pays de Sodome et de Gomorrhe sera plus tolérable que cette ville.
16 Behold I send you as sheep in the midst of wolves. Be ye therefore wise as serpents and simple as doves.
« Voici que je vous envoie comme des brebis au milieu des loups. Soyez donc sages comme les serpents et inoffensifs comme les colombes.
17 But beware of men. For they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues.
Mais méfiez-vous des hommes, car ils vous livreront aux conseils, et dans leurs synagogues ils vous flagelleront.
18 And you shall be brought before governors, and before kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles:
Oui, et vous serez amenés devant des gouverneurs et des rois à cause de moi, en témoignage pour eux et pour les nations.
19 But when they shall deliver you up, take no thought how or what to speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what to speak.
Mais quand on te livrera, ne t'inquiète pas de ce que tu diras ni de la manière dont tu le feras, car ce que tu diras te sera donné à l'heure même.
20 For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.
Car ce n'est pas vous qui parlez, mais l'Esprit de votre Père qui parle en vous.
21 The brother also shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the son: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and shall put them to death.
« Le frère livrera son frère à la mort, et le père son enfant. Les enfants se soulèveront contre les parents et les feront mourir.
22 And you shall be hated by all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall persevere unto the end, he shall be saved.
Vous serez haïs de tous à cause de mon nom, mais celui qui persévérera jusqu'à la fin sera sauvé.
23 And when they shall persecute you in this city, flee into another. Amen I say to you, you shall not finish all the cities of Israel, till the Son of man come.
Mais si l'on vous persécute dans cette ville, fuyez dans la suivante; car, je vous le dis en toute certitude, vous n'aurez pas traversé les villes d'Israël avant que le Fils de l'homme ne soit venu.
24 The disciple is not above the master, nor the servant above his lord.
« Le disciple n'est pas au-dessus de son maître, ni le serviteur au-dessus de son seigneur.
25 It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the goodman of the house Beelzebub, how much more them of his household?
Il suffit que le disciple soit comme son maître, et le serviteur comme son seigneur. S'ils ont appelé le maître de la maison Béelzébul, à combien plus forte raison ceux de sa maison!
26 Therefore fear them not. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed: nor hid, that shall not be known.
N'ayez donc pas peur d'eux, car il n'y a rien de caché qui ne soit révélé, ni de dissimulé qui ne soit connu.
27 That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light: and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops.
Ce que je vous dis dans les ténèbres, dites-le en pleine lumière; et ce que vous entendez murmurer à l'oreille, proclamez-le sur les toits.
28 And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Geenna g1067)
Ne craignez pas ceux qui tuent le corps, mais ne peuvent tuer l'âme. Craignez plutôt celui qui est capable de détruire l'âme et le corps dans la géhenne. (Geenna g1067)
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father.
« Deux moineaux ne sont-ils pas vendus pour une pièce d'assarion? Aucun d'entre eux ne tombe à terre sans la volonté de votre Père.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
Mais les cheveux de votre tête sont tous comptés.
31 Fear not therefore: better are you than many sparrows.
N'ayez donc pas peur. Vous avez plus de valeur que beaucoup de moineaux.
32 Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.
Ainsi, quiconque me confesse devant les hommes, je le confesserai aussi devant mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
33 But he that shall deny me before men, I will also deny him before my Father who is in heaven.
Mais quiconque me renie devant les hommes, je le renierai aussi devant mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
34 Do not think that I came to send peace upon earth: I came not to send peace, but the sword.
« Ne croyez pas que je sois venu apporter la paix sur la terre. Je ne suis pas venu envoyer la paix, mais une épée.
35 For I came to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Car je suis venu opposer l'homme à son père, la fille à sa mère et la belle-fille à sa belle-mère.
36 And as a man’s enemies shall be they of his own household.
L' homme aura pour ennemis les gens de sa propre maison.
37 He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.
Celui qui aime son père ou sa mère plus que moi n'est pas digne de moi, et celui qui aime son fils ou sa fille plus que moi n'est pas digne de moi.
38 And he that taketh not up his cross, and followeth me, is not worthy of me.
Celui qui ne prend pas sa croix et ne me suit pas n'est pas digne de moi.
39 He that findeth his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for me, shall find it.
Celui qui cherche sa vie la perdra, et celui qui perd sa vie à cause de moi la trouvera.
40 He that receiveth you, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.
« Celui qui vous reçoit me reçoit, et celui qui me reçoit reçoit celui qui m'a envoyé.
41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive the reward of a prophet: and he that receiveth a just man in the name of a just man, shall receive the reward of a just man.
Celui qui reçoit un prophète au nom d'un prophète recevra la récompense du prophète. Celui qui reçoit un juste au nom d'un juste recevra la récompense d'un juste.
42 And whosoever shall give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
Celui qui donnera à boire à l'un de ces petits un simple verre d'eau froide au nom d'un disciple, très certainement, je vous le dis, il ne perdra en rien sa récompense. »
